VATICAN CITY, Sept 6 (Reuters) - Pope Francis has moved to allay Jewish concerns over comments he made about their books of sacred law, following a demand for clarification from Israel's top rabbis, Vatican and Jewish community sources said on Monday.
Last month Reuters reported exclusively that Rabbi Rasson Arousi, chair of the Commission of the Chief Rabbinate of Israel for Dialogue with the Holy See, had written a stern letter to the Vatican, saying Francis' comments appeared to suggest that the Torah, or Jewish law, was obsolete. read more
At a general audience on Aug. 11, the pope said: "The law (Torah) however does not give life."
"It does not offer the fulfilment of the promise because it is not capable of being able to fulfil it ... Those who seek life need to look to the promise and to its fulfilment in Christ.

I doubt this vermin has ever said anything similar about Islam and the Koran.
From a Biblical perspective, according to Scripture, speaking as one who is Born Again in the Shed Blood of Jesus Christ, there is far more validity to the Torah then there is to the added books of Roman catholicism.
I’m Jewish, but although I’m no fan of Pope Francis, have no problem with his statement. I don’t agree with him, but if he accepted Jewish law as the final word, there’d be no room for Christianity.
By definition, Christians believe that the word of Christ goes beyond the Torah.
Is Jesus Christ mentioned in your Torah?
You appear to contradict yourself.
As I said, I am a Born Again Christian. And Jesus is exalted throughout the Old Testament.
Did the Pope say that "the added books of Roman Catholicism" gave Life or fulfilled any promises?
No, he did not. So why bring it up?
The issue the Pope raised is not the Torah vs. the Koran. Nor the Torah vs. "the added books of Roman Catholicism." It's the Torah vs. Jesus Christ.
And from a Christian perspective, he is correct.
Pope should have just ignored the cry baby rabbi.
I bring it up because roman catholicism has exalted itself as well as the pope above Jesus Christ. The false doctrine is exalted above the Victory of Jesus Christ 2,000 years ago.
The Bible is quite clear, the Scriptures cannot be added to or taken from. Good day.
Jesus Christ is never mentioned in your Torah.
Not true! He is certainly represented in Types and Shadows.
Examples please?
And please tell us why you reject the other books of the Old Testament and the entire New Testament, while claiming to be a “born again christian”.

Nowhere did I state I reject the other Books of the Old Testament. Yet another example of “adding to and taking from”
Examples, sure.....
Ever read the Book of Hebrews? Though Paul does not give his signature to the Book of Hebrews, for the purpose of this exercise, Paul is explaining to the Judaizers that Jesus Christ is represented as the One to come.
What did the Old Testament Sacrifices represent? Who was represented by the Sacrificial Lamb?
What about the New Testament? Do you recognize it's books as the Word of God as well. After all, you claim to be a born-again-christian.
Of course I recognize every Book and Epistle in the King James Bible. Both the Old Testament and the New Testament.
2’nd Timothy 2:
15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
I also recognize the validity of “sola Scriptura”
I reject any and ALL false doctrines that exalts itself equal to or above the Inspired Word of God
18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:
19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.
John 1
King James Version
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
Amen to every one of your posts. Thank you.
I’m thinking the pope has brought this up twice to Israel because it would not be good for the False Prophet to pi$$ of the Jews. He’s got enough problems right now than to choose that hill on which to fight. He’s not going to win that battle.
