Jehovah’s Witnesses Leader: COVID-19 Signals the “Last Day of the Last Days” rapture
Patheos ^ | 20 march | He meant mehta

In case you’re wondering how some religions are coping with the outbreak of COVID-19, just look to the Jehovah’s Witnesses to see how absurd reactions can get.

In a recent video featuring Governing Body member Stephen Lett, he absolutely delights in the disease because he sees it as a signal that Armageddon is imminent.

So the events unfolding around us are making clear, [more] than ever, that we’re living in the final part of the Last Days. Undoubtedly, the final part of the final part of the Last Days, shortly before the last day of the Last Days.

Luke 2:22-24
When the time came for the purification rites required by the Law of Moses, Joseph and Mary took him to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord  (as it is written in the Law of the Lord, “Every firstborn male is to be consecrated to the Lord”),  and to offer a sacrifice in keeping with what is said in the Law of the Lord: “a pair of doves or two young pigeons.”

The LAW!

Leviticus 12:7-8
Then he shall offer it before the LORD and make atonement for her, and she shall be cleansed from the flow of her blood. This is the law for her who bears a child, whether a male or a female.
'But if she cannot afford a lamb, then she shall take two turtledoves or two young pigeons, the one for a burnt offering and the other for a sin offering; and the priest shall make atonement for her, and she will be clean.'"

Sinless Mary??
Not according to Rome's Book;    1 John 1:8 If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.

That's the way it is WRITTEN.

THIS is the way it is TAUGHT:  1 John 1:8 If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us; the only exception being Mary, Mother of GOD, of course.

Rome has published facts, in it's book,  that have turned IT's 'Mary' into a HYPOCRIT, by painting her as SINLESS, yet writing of her going into the temple to make a SIN offering.

You are a carnal minded false teacher. The rejection of your false choice is the story of Lot. You are not anywhere near the truth yet. And you are a badgering spittlefest just more clever than Phil in his badgering.

Every descendant from Adam has a body, a soul, and a spirit. Can you sin after you die? No, you cannot. BUT the spirit you possess continues to exist even as the body returns to the dust.

1 John 3:9 Whosoever is born of God sinneth not: for His seed remaineth in him, neither can he sin, because he is born of God.

Where is GOD abiding with the born again? In the spirit of that individual. Who is in the born again both to will and do of His good pleasure? How did Paul tell you how to be transformed in your soul, your behavior mechanism? Remember, you are a body, a behavior mechanism, and a spirit.

Until you are born again born from above, the engine is dead in the spirit. By faith alone in Christ alone God births the dead spirit into eternal life. You cannot do it. And when He makes you born again HE thereafter IRREVOCABLY abides in the born again spirit.

1 John 3:9 every one who hath been begotten of God, sin he doth not, because His seed in him doth remain, and he is not able to sin, because of God he hath been begotten. Young's Literal Translation (YLT)

So a born-again Christian like Ravi Zacharias or yourself doesn't sin - it's just your bodies that sin, that's what you're saying? That the sins you or Ravi commit/committed weren't done by "you" but by "your flesh"?

Well, you're on the right track...Bible says we do sin but at the same time it says we can't sin...And then it says when we do sin that sin won't be attributed to us...Looking at those seeming contradictions, and relying on our own genius we determine the bible isn't worth the paper it was written on so we throw the bible out with the bath water...But the reality is, we aren't required to understand those things, even with our advanced, trained human logic...All that's required is we believe what we read...It is God then who will open our understanding...And he does...

You clearly don't understand this born again thing...You're still trying to figure out how we can get back into the womb...You can't figure out how Paul could continue to sin in Romans 7 while he was the head Apostle...

You want us to pay a price for the sins we commit, it's only fair...You can't seem to accept the fact that spiritually Jesus already paid that price for us...I guess that's why you guys won't let Jesus come down off the Cross...He has to keep paying and keep paying because we/you continue to sin...

You don't seem to get that when we became born again we went from darkness to light...That judgement that you want us to go thru at the end of the book of Revelation ain't gonna happen...Jesus paid OUR penalty...The moment we accepted Jesus as our Savior we became (just) justified (by grace)...When God looks at us he sees his Son...(There are some pretty good perks to being a Christian)...

Now, do we sin??? Of course we do...That's unavoidable...Is that sin counted against us in our position in the family of God??? Nope...So where is justice, you say...

Jesus tells us that sometimes he will take us out behind the wood shed for a talking to...Jesus tells us the church may ban us from their presence...Jesus tells us he may end our life on Earth (sickness, execution, accident)...Some may spend a long time in jail...Jesus tells us some may not be reprimanded at all here on Earth for some things but we will be reprimanded with a lack of the many rewards that will be available in heaven...My mansion may turn out to be a dinette in the basement of heaven...

But just like he explained, our good works cannot save us, keep us saved or make us in the least bit worthy of God’s grace - that’s WHY it is by grace.

GRACE is exactly WHY I keep the commandments of God. (That’s evidently something not sinking into your mind)

That sounds almost like “Replacement Theology” but I’ll assume you’re referring instead to Believing Israel vs Unbelieving Israel.

Correct. We are all now one in Christ.

As for Ravi himself regarding his Salvation. That is secure for any who are in Christ because Jesus will not deny His Spirit within us. But Ravi’s ‘rewards’ no doubt will be affected in Heaven and that’s Gods call. Our Judgment in Heaven is one of rewards....not punishment....for what we have done for Christ through his Spirit.

Not so sure I agree with you. I’m pretty sure Ravi had knowledge of the truth. It’s God’s call, not mine.

Hebrews 10:26-27 “For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries.”

Once saved, always saved and Christians can’t sin are not doctrines I agree with. They are not supported in the bible. But, Satan is probably happy with them.

So are you saying that if we don’t keep his commandments we are doomed? or Just that we should strive to keep them because we love Him and want to please Him?

First of all, they are commandments, not suggestions. Second, God says to keep them if you claim to love him. Third, if you claim to love him and you don’t keep his commandments, you are a liar (not speaking of you in particular).

Who will be in heaven? Commandment keepers.

Rev 22:14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

Who won’t get the Mark of the Beast and will be in heaven? Christian commandment keepers.

Rev 14:12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.

What will God say to someone who doesn’t do what he says? “I never knew you, depart from me, you worker of iniquity”

Nobody said Christians can't sin.

Do try to accurately present our position.

the security of the believer is certainly taught in Scripture. You just have to read it to find it.

Here are the relevant verse and perhaps you can explain how *sealed until the day of redemption* really doesn't mean sealed until the day of redemption.

John 5:24 Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.

John 6:37-39 All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out. For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will but the will of him who sent me. And this is the will of him who sent me, that I should lose nothing of all that he has given me, but raise it up on the last day.

John 10:25-30 Jesus answered them, “I told you, and you do not believe. The works that I do in my Father's name bear witness about me, but you do not believe because you are not among my sheep. My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand. I and the Father are one.”

Romans 4:16 Therefore, the promise comes by faith, so that it may be by grace and may be guaranteed to all Abraham's offspring-not only to those who are of the law but also to those who have the faith of Abraham. He is the father of us all.

1 Corinthians 1:4-8 I give thanks to my God always for you because of the grace of God that was given you in Christ Jesus, that in every way you were enriched in him in all speech and all knowledge—even as the testimony about Christ was confirmed among you—so that you are not lacking in any gift, as you wait for the revealing of our Lord Jesus Christ, who will sustain you to the end, guiltless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.

2 Corinthians 1:21-22 And it is God who establishes us with you in Christ, and has anointed us, and who has also put his seal on us and given us his Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.

2 Corinthians 5:4-8 For while we are still in this tent, we groan, being burdened—not that we would be unclothed, but that we would be further clothed, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life. He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who has given us the Spirit as a guarantee.

So we are always of good courage. We know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord, for we walk by faith, not by sight. Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord.

Ephesians 1:13-14 In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory.

Ephesians 4:30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.

Philippians 1:6 And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.

Colossians 1:13-14 He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

Colossians 2:13-14 And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross.

Colossians 3:3 For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.

1 Peter 1:3-5 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, who by God's power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

Hebrews 6:17-20 So when God desired to show more convincingly to the heirs of the promise the unchangeable character of his purpose, he guaranteed it with an oath, so that by two unchangeable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled for refuge might have strong encouragement to hold fast to the hope set before us. We have this as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, a hope that enters into the inner place behind the curtain, where Jesus has gone as a forerunner on our behalf, having become a high priest forever after the order of Melchizedek.

Jude v24 "Now unto Him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy"

1 John 5:13 I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God that you may know that you have eternal life.

2 Corinthians 1:21-22 Now he which stablisheth us with you in Christ, and hath anointed us, is God; Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.

For which the Greek, from the Byzantine, is:

2Corinthians 1:21-22 ο δε βεβαιων ημας συν υμιν εις χριστον και χρισας ημας θεος ο και σφραγισαμενος ημας και δους τον αρραβωνα του πνευματος εν ταις καρδιαις ημων

The first word in bold above is “bebaion,” the idea of confirmation, frequently used in commercial settings to confirm a bargain. Which of course makes sense of the remaining terms used here, which are also elements of a secured contract.

The second word in bold above is “sphragisamenos,” being sealed is to be marked by the signature, signet ring, or other unique proof of identity, that we belong to God, and this sealing is done by God, who is the one taking action in this verse. We do not and cannot seal ourselves. We do not, by our own powers, have access to God’s “signet ring.”

The third bolded word above is “arrabona,” and indicates what we might loosely refer to as earnest money, but in Hebrew culture conveys more the idea of a pledge of covenant, a security given as a guarantee that the deal will go through, though we only receive part payment at the beginning. See ערב for the related Hebrew stem indicating “pledge.”

You’re stating “But in either case, the person has the get-out-of-jail clause “It wasn’t me”....
That’s not what they’re saying Cronos.... Rather that when God sees/views/Judges us He sees the Righteousness of His son Jesus who fulfilled God’s Law and Righteous requirements ‘on our behalf’ and it’s Jesus’s life, death, suffering and Resurrection which fully and completely satisfied all of God’s requirements we could not and never can fulfill before our Holy God....both now and forever more.....It is finished.

Caww, that is what they (MGHinTN,Boatbums,Iscool, etc...) are saying. It is clear from their language “that born agains” cannot sin in the Spirit (but maybe in the flesh) but in either case are not responsible and will certainly be in heaven regardless. You said it yourself..

“As for Ravi himself regarding his Salvation. That is secure for any who are in Christ because Jesus will not deny His Spirit within us. But Ravi’s ‘rewards’ no doubt will be affected in Heaven and that’s Gods call. Our Judgment in Heaven is one of rewards....not punishment....for what we have done for Christ through his Spirit.”

The bible does not support that position at all. So, you still get to be in heaven but your rewards will be less??? Fewer jewels in your crown? Mansion further away from the center of the city?

Absolutely not supported in the bible. But this is....

Matthew 7
21Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?’ 23Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you workers of lawlessness!’…

Notice the last word....lawlessness. Means the same as iniquity. Means the same as sin.

1 John 3:9 every one who hath been begotten of God, sin he doth not, because His seed in him doth remain, and he is not able to sin, because of God he hath been begotten. Young’s Literal Translation (YLT)

MHG, let me clarify that for you...

DOTH NOT COMMIT SIN. That is, he does not continue to sin, or he does not habitually
sin (see on v. 6; the form of the Greek verb here is the same as it is there). The apostle
thus characterizes those who have been born of God. They have experienced the new
birth, their natures and changed, and they resemble their heavenly Father (see on John
3:3–5; 1 John 3:1). They hate the sin they used to love, and love the virtue they used to
despise (see on Rom. 6:2, 6; 7:14, 15). Such people do not continue slaves to their old
sins, they do not habitually commit their old mistakes. Divine power has given them the
victory over those weaknesses, and is ready to aid them in overcoming other faults of
which they may not previously have been aware.

CANNOT SIN. Or, “is not able to go on sinning,” or “is not able to go on habitually
sinning.” This does not mean that the Christian is incapable of committing a wrong act. If
he were unable to sin, there would be no virtue in his being without sin, and there would
be no true development of character. John has already implied that he will make
occasional mistakes (see on ch. 2:1). The passage means that, having been born of God,
and having God’s life-giving power dwelling in him, he cannot continue his old pattern
of habitual sin. He now follows the sinless ideals that have been implanted in his soul by
the new birth.

Unless you can respond to ALL of the scriptures posted to you your bible opinions are meaningless...Christianity is a bible religion...

Act 20:27  For I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God.
Act 20:28  Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.

You can not possibly feed the church of God without using ALL the counsel of God...

Something I heard long ago that stuck with me. I didn’t realize how true it was at the time I heard it. It’s proved to be true:

“Anyone trying to put you on a works trip is in a cult.”

The second thing from reading this thread and from years of reading ones just like it:

Deny Israel her rightful place and everything else gets skewed. A person has to mangle every other part of Scripture, too. They take the blessings but never take the curses.
