Jehovah’s Witnesses Leader: COVID-19 Signals the “Last Day of the Last Days” rapture
Patheos ^ | 20 march | He meant mehta

Posted on 02/27/2021 1:36:09 PM PST by Cronos

In case you’re wondering how some religions are coping with the outbreak of COVID-19, just look to the Jehovah’s Witnesses to see how absurd reactions can get.

In a recent video featuring Governing Body member Stephen Lett, he absolutely delights in the disease because he sees it as a signal that Armageddon is imminent.

So the events unfolding around us are making clear, [more] than ever, that we’re living in the final part of the Last Days. Undoubtedly, the final part of the final part of the Last Days, shortly before the last day of the Last Days.

Mhg “The spirit of the born again cannot sin “

So you are saying one of two things

1. You aren’t born again because you do sin

OR

2. You are born again and you don’t sin.

Phil, you addressed the question to mhg.

Ravi Z did sin. He was human after all.

But mhg says “The spirit of the born again cannot sin “

So that would mean, according to Mhgs logic

1. Ravi was not born again

Or

2. Ravis, ahem, activities, weren’t sins in mhgintn eyes

I wonder which it is

Mhg “you have been norn again then the Spirit of God abides in your spirit and IT cannot sin because God is there. The flesh? Not so much, it is trained to sin.”

So Ravis body sinned but Ravis spirit didn’t?

So each time a Bjorn again sins, in your opinion, he has the get-out-of-jail-free excuse that “It wasn’t me. It was just my body. My spirit weren’t in it”???!?!?!?

Ignore Ravi.

You say
1. You, personally, are born again.
2. You say born again can’t sin
3. You say if the ba sins it was the bas body not the ba spirit.

So do YOU sin? Or are you sinless? Or aren’t you boris again?

MHGinTN you have been norn again then the Spirit of God abides in your spirit and IT cannot sin because God is there. The flesh? Not so much, it is trained to sin.”

Metmom The born again spirit of a person cannot sin.

The soul can continue to choose sin, however.

So you're saying a person is made up of mind, body, soul and spirit and that

if a person sins then it is either

1. Due to his body - as per MHG

2. Due to his soul - as per metmom

But in either case, the person has the get-out-of-jail clause "It wasn't me"

have called me?

well, it was his body (as per him) or his soul (as per the met) who did it, it wasn't him who called you any of that.

Iscool You haven't figured out that the born again Christian is separated from the corrupt flesh...That is the spiritual circumcision made without hands referenced in the book of Colossians...This is written in contrast to the physical circumcision of the Jews which set them apart unto God...The spiritual circumcision cuts the spirit away from the flesh so the spirit can't be contaminated from what the flesh does...

So a born-again Christian like Ravi Zacharias or yourself doesn't sin - it's just your bodies that sin, that's what you're saying? That the sins you or Ravi commit/committed weren't done by "you" but by "your flesh"?

So are you saying that if we don’t keep his commandments we are doomed? or Just that we should strive to keep them because we love Him and want to please Him?

Ravi’s sin, which now appears after two separate investigations, appears to be true. He basically lived a double life....and He certainly doesn't nor did he get a free pass. The consequences here on earth are currently playing out as his reputation and the span of his once great institutions are fighting not to crumble....but are. There of course is damage.

As for Ravi himself regarding his Salvation. That is secure for any who are in Christ because Jesus will not deny His Spirit within us. But Ravi’s ‘rewards’ no doubt will be affected in Heaven and that's Gods call. Our Judgment in Heaven is one of rewards....not punishment....for what we have done for Christ through his Spirit.

.......”The Christian church is the inheritor of the spiritual privileges and responsibilities that ‘once’ belonged to literal Israel”.....And that is a fact.”.......

That sounds almost like “Replacement Theology” but I’ll assume you’re referring instead to Believing Israel vs Unbelieving Israel.

You're stating “But in either case, the person has the get-out-of-jail clause “It wasn't me”....

That's not what they're saying Cronos.... Rather that when God sees/views/Judges us He sees the Righteousness of His son Jesus who fulfilled God's Law and Righteous requirements 'on our behalf' and it's Jesus's life, death, suffering and Resurrection which fully and completely satisfied all of God's requirements we could not and never can fulfill before our Holy God....both now and forever more.....It is finished.

......”NOBODY is saying Christians can or should live ungodly sinful lives because they are saved by grace and not works”.....

Correct. But there are those who are “afraid” people will just continue life as before once they are saved .....and those types want to determine the path of Christians by their Institutional requirements rather than the leading and work of the Holy Spirit. Thus they incorporate rituals and various other hoops to jump through in order to sustain their Institution and it's practices.....just as they did when they Incorporated Rome's pattern of hierarchy centuries ago. And today there are many 'other' like them.

Caww, what you said is about Christ forgiving us an our sins and that we are forgiven and saved by grace.

On that all of the sides here - whether evangelical or Adventist or Modalist or orthodox - agree on.

What the two were saying was “you have been norn again then the Spirit of God abides in your spirit and IT cannot sin because God is there. The flesh? Not so much, it is trained to sin.” —> i.e. that you don’t sin, your body does

and

“The born again spirit of a person cannot sin. The soul can continue to choose sin, however.”
—> i.e. that you don’t sin, your soul does.

This is passing the buck — as you said correctly, Jesus’ sacrifice forgives our sins — but note “our sins” - we are still sinners.

The idea of saying “hey, I didn’t sin, my body/soul did, not my spirit” is not showing humbleness to the fact that we are saved by grace

Dontcha love how people who blow a gasket at the thought that someone would make a judgment about the state of their soul then goes on and demands that we make that very judgment about a public figure whom we don’t know personally based on some moral failure in their lives?

Works based religionists have always accused those who adhere to the gospel of grace of taking sin too lightly.

What they don’t understand is how the new birth creates in one a spirit that does not want to sin instead of looking for every opportunity to sin since there are no outside constraints imposed on them. They do not understand the internal control that one can exercise because they have never been born of the spirit.

Their carnal mind sees the lack of outside control, the Law, as license to sin because that’s what they would do if they were in our place.

All I can say is my sensitivity to sin was dramatically changed....even hearing the Lords name said in vain was keenly heard and still is. But not without also hearing right away ,in my heart, Jesus's words...”Forgive them for they know not what they do”....

It is all about a sensitivity t His Spirit within us. And not ignoring nor suppressing it...rather if need be asking for conformation...or simply walking on in faith.

Metmom The born again spirit of a person cannot sin. The soul can continue to choose sin, however.

And then someone would make a judgment about the state of their soul

You made a very clear statement that the born again's "spirit" can't sin, only their soul sins.

MHG made a very clear statement that their body sins, but their spirit does not sin.

Ravi Z by all accounts did sin - even if it was not the things he was accused of (I'm not convinced by the stories about him) - but you are saying that his body and his soul sinned but his spirit did not sin - so does that mean Ravi sinned or didn't sin?

Ravi Z by all accounts did sin...

Mary, by bible teaching, did sin as well.

Why Rome keeps insisting she didn't, goes against the very book it says it's members follow.
