‘Shy’ Trump voters will power his win, says pollster who called 2016 race
Yahoo News ^ | October 23, 2020 | David Knowles

Thanks to the hidden support from voters who are embarrassed to admit they will vote for Donald Trump, the president will be narrowly reelected on Nov. 3, says one of the few pollsters who correctly predicted his 2016 victory.

Pollster Robert Cahaly, the head of the Georgia-based Trafalgar Group, saw interest in his company skyrocket in 2016 after he bucked the consensus of other pollsters and forecast that Trump would beat Democrat Hillary Clinton in Michigan and Pennsylvania, two states that were crucial to his victory. He credits a proprietary model of calculating a polling sample that takes into account the social pressure that leads many people to hide their support of a controversial, polarizing candidate like Trump, even from anonymous pollsters.

“Embarrassed”?

“Fearful” is more like it. Fear of violent reprisals for supporting Trump.

My dad told me yesterday he voted for Trump. He was so proud. And this is a man who’s been a lifelong Democrat, whose father always told him “a working man never votes Republican.” (Both union their whole lives.)

I was completely shocked, and I hope it’s a good sign for Trump. He said the debate Thursday night convinced him, so he went out first thing Friday morning and voted for him.

Shy? Really? Voting is a private matter, if someone displays their preference then that is their choice. Other choose not to publicly display their choice which is their choice. To categorize them as ‘shy’ is an error and insulting. This mindset also explains one reason the polls are so inaccurate. After the 2020 elections I think there maybe a reset of polling companies. They need to stop being cheerleaders for one side and do a better job in accurate polling.

Calling these voters shy is misleading.

Many if not most of this polling is on line or the results are managed on line; thus when a voter tells a poster where they are in terms of this election, and the issue is presented in many ways to measure the depth of any commitment or direction, that information becomes a part of a permanent record about the responder on Goggle, Twitter, and variety of other web information accumulation sites.

That is information that no one should want the managers to have--it may be prejudicial to the interest of the responder in the future.

Nothing shy about any of this--it just isn't smart and may well be against the interest of the responder to tell.

It may be that responses that are outright reversals of actual positions may be in the interest of the responder--future solicitations will give the responder information about actual current conditions that are not generally available. Of course there may also be actual exposure in those answers also.

I’m not afraid. I’m just too busy to want to shoot people stealing signs from my lawn or keying my car. Too much paperwork.

Thanks for the link. We’re in VA, so if it’s tied at this point — and folks like my dad are voting for Trump — there’s a chance here!

My brother in law is voting for the first time and he’s 58 yrs old. He used to poo poo politics but is now chomping at the bit to vote for President Trump. He’s an avid gun enthusiast. Oddly his son has been voting conservative since age 18.

Here is the proof:

Furious liberals demand CNN fire Obama adviser Van Jones for saying Trump ‘doesn't get credit’ for the ‘good things’ he has done for the black community

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8874461/Van-Jones-says-Trump-doesnt-credit-good-things-African-Americans.html

If the mob is calling for a hard core leftist like Van Jones to be dismissed for merely saying Trump has done a lot of good things for blacks, it's no surprise a lot of Trump supporters find it prudent to keep quiet about their support for Trump, even in phone polls from people they don't know.

This living in ‘fear’ mode cannot continue forever either.

Eventually it’s going to burst into violence from both sides.

Trump did himself a lot of favors with his performance in the debate. The firebrand works for me but for the voters we need right now calm Trump needs to be the order of the day for the next week. Its ok Mr. President. Do what you must to guarantee 4 more years!

It ain’t about shy.

The secret ballot (or Australian ballot) was first adopted in South Australia in 1856.

It was adopted in Great Britain in 1872 and in America after the election of 1884.

Secret voting dramatically reduces the possibility of undue influence on the voter. It helps eliminate coercion, bribery, and other external influences.

I think Reagan’s “Silent Majority” is a much better way to describe how many Trump voters value their privacy.

Which have all been done by BLM/ANTIFA terrorists to Trump Trump supporters over the past 6 months. Repeatedly.
