Pastor John Piper warns Trump's 'deadly' behavior will lead to 'destruction' in blistering post

John Piper has issued a blistering condemnation of President Donald Trump, warning Christian voters that the president's “deadly behavior” will lead the U.S. to “destruction of more kinds than we can imagine.”

On Thursday, the influential pastor and writer published what he referred to as a “long-overdue” blog post in which he pondered the implications of the 2020 election.

Piper, who pastored Bethlehem Baptist Church in Minneapolis for almost 33 years, reminded Christians that "it is not a small thing to treat lightly a pattern of public behaviors that lead to death."

He pointed out that all of these sins are mentioned in the Bible and are “deadly” enough to destroy people and entire nations.

“I think it is a drastic mistake to think that the deadly influences of a leader come only through his policies and not also through his person,” he wrote. “This is true not only because flagrant boastfulness, vulgarity, immorality, and factiousness are self-incriminating, but also because they are nation-corrupting. They move out from centers of influence to infect whole cultures.”

“The last five years bear vivid witness to this infection at almost every level of society.”

Piper questioned why some Christians seem to be sure they are “saving human lives and freedoms” by ignoring the destructive effects of a “self-absorbed, self-exalting” leader.

You can support Trump and his Godly agenda, or you can support the party of Satan

Precisely. Ain't no middle ground.

Without mentioning Trump by name, Piper said he is “baffled” over the fact that many Christians consider the sins of unrepentant sexual immorality, boastfulness, vulgarity, factiousness, and the like, to be “only toxic for our nation,” while policies that endorse “baby-killing, sex-switching, freedom-limiting, and socialistic overreach are viewed as deadly.”

Folks,

Read the article, consider the headline which does not match with what is being said.

My take is that he is saying don’t look to Trump as your savior, he has faults.

I m ok with that................................

Yup, I unsubscribed from an email blog of his this morning and I am going to throw out his books which are on my shelves. I’m embarrassed that he fooled me.

Yes. That is it.

I am concerned as to how Piper got this wrong. David seduced Bathsheba, killed her husband, and took Bathsheba as his third, I think, wife. Solomon had a legal relationship with 1000 women. (For those who say concubines are not wives, I answer that no, they are not. But concubines did have some legal rights of their rank.) Those men were no worse, morally, than Trump.

Lately, Trump has been saying and doing the "right" things as far as being a Christian is concerned. Since God did not give me, or John Piper, and "elector detector" I cannot speak to Trump's position before the Lord.

Which brings me down to what does give a person a right position before the Lord. ONLY RECOGNIZING THAT YOU ARE A SINNER AND THEREFORE SEPARATED FROM GOD; REALIZING THAT JESUS IS GOD'S ONLY PROVISION FOR YOUR SIN; AND ACCEPTING THE FORGIVENESS AND RECONCILIATION AVAILABLE IN THE PERSON AND WORK OF JESUS CHRIST.

That's it. That's all. There is no more to it. It's available to me, to you, to John Piper, and to Trump. It's available to ALL.

Under your definition Elijah would be guiltier than the prophets of Baal!

I don't see your point but I love that true historical and glorious story. The Lord—he is God!

Donald Trump, God’s choice for President

Amen, but whoever wins on 3 November will also be God's choice for America's good or ill. We are not entitled to God's blessings and mercy forever in spite of what we do and don't do. Amen?

1 Corinthians 1
27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;
28 And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:
29 That no flesh should glory in his presence.
30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:
31 That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.

Nothing would make be happier that to see President Trump glory in the Lord instead of himself for once!

Of course, but a Biden/Harris win will mean Socialism, death, and the sooner coming of antichrist, rather than America standing strong as the friend of Israel and the protector of our God-given rights to life and to liberty. Piper has written as if the two outcomes are equal. They are not. If PDJT wins it means God is being merciful to us as a nation and granting the unsaved a few more precious months in which to come to Jesus. Because we do not know God's timing, we should be using our votes and our voices as Christians in America for a PDJT outcome.

Oh yes, God judges a proud look on the same level as the murder of babies in the womb. Uhuh.

Both abominations come from the same root, the root of idolatry, the making of oneself into a god that decides what is good and evil:

Genesis 3
Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.

And when the first Herod slaughtered the male babies in Bethlehem, God did not strike him down instantly:

Matthew 2:16
Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently inquired of the wise men.
17 Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet, saying,
18 In Rama was there a voice heard, lamentation, and weeping, and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children, and would not be comforted, because they are not.

But a later Herod was struck down instantly for not giving the glory to God.

Acts 12
20 And Herod was highly displeased with them of Tyre and Sidon: but they came with one accord to him, and, having made Blastus the king's chamberlain their friend, desired peace; because their country was nourished by the king's country.
21 And upon a set day Herod, arrayed in royal apparel, sat upon his throne, and made an oration unto them.
22 And the people gave a shout, saying, It is the voice of a god, and not of a man.
23 And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost.
24 But the word of God grew and multiplied.

God's Glory is more holy than the even the lives of our precious innocent babies. Amen?

John Piper is a sinner.

Since all men are sinners we should never vote for anyone, I guess. Just surrender the world to non-christians so we can feel “holier than thou.”

I think and hope you are right and will vote for President Trump this time, but if PDJT does not submit to and glorify the living, in the flesh, Almighty King Jesus, he is doomed whether he wins the election or not. The there is precedent for nations paying for the sins of it's leaders. It may be much worse for us because we believe, in these United States, that "Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed"

Make no mistake, winning can be a curse too.

Here's an example, from 2016, of how that could happen in President Trump's second term:

In an interview on 1 May 2016, on CNBC, Donald Trump broke with tired clichés about the evils of federal debt accumulation. “I am the king of debt,” he said. “I love debt. I love playing with it.”
But he replaced fearmongering about debt with an even more alarming notion — a bankruptcy of the United States federal government that would incinerate the world economy.
“I would borrow, knowing that if the economy crashed, you could make a deal,” . “And if the economy was good, it was good. So therefore, you can’t lose.”

No, he is saying turn away from Trump because he is not moral enough to suit John Piper. Where does that put John Piper on the pride scale? Piper is oofering three choices, two of which aid the most eveil man in politics: Don’t vote for Trump, vote for the alternative, support the alternative by not voting for Trump. Piper and Andy Stanley and others aligned with them are working to spread confusion so evil may vault to power. Do you really think not voting for Trump is not supporting the other side, the side whichuses the slaughter of alive humans in the womb as an empowerment scheme? John Piper is a fraud.

I sense that you are working for the same confusion Piper is peddling. The more you post the more obvious you become, trying to get ‘amens’ for your treachery. That is one of Andy Stanley’s tricks.

Nothing would make be happier that to see President Trump glory in the Lord instead of himself for once!

His Proclamation for The Return:

On this inaugural National Day of Prayer and Return, the First Lady and I join millions of Christians here in the United States and around the world in prayer, as we turn our hearts to our Lord and Savior.

Our great Nation was founded by men and women of deep and abiding faith—a faith that has stood the test of time. Four hundred years ago, early American settlers trusted their lives to His providence and braved a voyage to a New World. From the pilgrims who sought His protection aboard the Mayflower to the countless believers who today bow their heads to ask for His guidance during these unprecedented times, our country continues to turn to the Lord. Following in our ancestors’ footsteps we continue the “firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence” that provides us enduring strength and reassurance in our times of need.

The trials and tribulations the American people have faced over the past several months have been great. Yet, as we have seen time and again, the resolve of our citizenry—fortified by our faith in God—has guided us through these hardships and helped to unite us as one Nation under God. As we continue to combat the challenges ahead of us, we must remember the sage words of President George Washington during his first Presidential Address: “propitious smiles of heaven can never be expected on a nation that disregards the eternal rules of order and right, which Heaven itself has ordained.” As a country and a people, let us renew our commitment to these abiding and timeless principles.

Today, I am pleased to join my voice to yours in thanking God for blessing this nation with great power and responsibility. With reverence, humility, and thanksgiving, we beg for His continued guidance and protection.

I'm voting for President Trump but I'm not voting for President Trump to Make America Great Again because God raised us up and can take us down just as well. I don't believe that God is a respecter of nations any more than He is a respecter of persons.

Daniel 2
20 Daniel answered and said, Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever: for wisdom and might are his:
21 And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding
22 He revealeth the deep and secret things: he knoweth what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with him.
