19:16 And mention, [O Muhammad], in the Book [the story of] Mary, when she withdrew from her family to a place toward the east.
19:17 And she took, in seclusion from them, a screen. Then We sent to her Our Angel, and he represented himself to her as a well-proportioned man.
19:18 She said, "Indeed, I seek refuge in the Most Merciful from you, [so leave me], if you should be fearing of Allah ."
19:19 He said, "I am only the messenger of your Lord to give you [news of] a pure boy."
19:20 She said, "How can I have a boy while no man has touched me and I have not been unchaste?"
19:21 He said, "Thus [it will be]; your Lord says, 'It is easy for Me, and We will make him a sign to the people and a mercy from Us. And it is a matter [already] decreed.' "
19:22 So she conceived him, and she withdrew with him to a remote place.
19:23 And the pains of childbirth drove her to the trunk of a palm tree. She said, "Oh, I wish I had died before this and was in oblivion, forgotten."
19:24 But he called her from below her, "Do not grieve; your Lord has provided beneath you a stream.
19:25 And shake toward you the trunk of the palm tree; it will drop upon you ripe, fresh dates.
19:26 So eat and drink and be contented. And if you see from among humanity anyone, say, 'Indeed, I have vowed to the Most Merciful abstention, so I will not speak today to [any] man.' "
19:27 Then she brought him to her people, carrying him. They said, "O Mary, you have certainly done a thing unprecedented.
19:28 O sister of Aaron, your father was not a man of evil, nor was your mother unchaste."
19:29 So she pointed to him. They said, "How can we speak to one who is in the cradle a child?"
19:30 [Jesus] said, "Indeed, I am the servant of Allah . He has given me the Scripture and made me a prophet.
19:31 And He has made me blessed wherever I am and has enjoined upon me prayer and zakah as long as I remain alive
19:32 And [made me] dutiful to my mother, and He has not made me a wretched tyrant.
19:33 And peace is on me the day I was born and the day I will die and the day I am raised alive."
19:34 That is Jesus, the son of Mary - the word of truth about which they are in dispute.
19:35 It is not [befitting] for Allah to take a son; exalted is He! When He decrees an affair, He only says to it, "Be," and it is.
19:36 [Jesus said], "And indeed, Allah is my Lord and your Lord, so worship Him. That is a straight path."
1. This "Islamic Jesus" speaks words (even as a newborn) - that is not in the Gospels and was not read of anywhere until the 8th century writing of the Quran 2. This tale of Mary going to wilderness looks like the writer barely remembered the account in the book of Revelations and distorted it 3. If anyone reads Q19:19 you see that the passage poses a problem to the doctrine of tawheed (Muslim oneness / unitarianism) and the alleged absolute Oneness of allah. In the verse we read clearly that the spirit of Allah is the one who is speaking and claiming to be the messenger of Allah, yet at the same time promising to give Mary a child. 4. Jesus is labelled spirit of Allah means Allah chosen His spirit for Jesus 5. Then Mary is called "the sister of Aaron" - because the writers of the quran mixed up Mary with Mariam (the sister of Aaron) 6. NOte that the author refers to Jesus as "the son of Mary" - this was a refutation of the theotokos term (Mother of God) term for Mary.
Finally - note that this is a different character from the Jesus of the Gospels or the Pauline/James/Peters letters. Muslims when you speak to them of Jesus, think of this Quranic character and say "hey, but Jesus said he wasn't god - look it's here in the quran"
The Koran doesn’t present anything about Mary as Christians understand her. The Koran tries to say that Mary is considered by Christians to be the third person of the Trinity. This was based on the historical accident that the only Christians with whom Mohammed had contact were Nestorians, who have a defective understanding of Christian theology. But no Christians, not even Nestorians, but all the rest, Orthodox, Protestant or Catholic, have ever considered Mary to be a member of the Trinity. All Christians know that Mary is not God. They give the saints doulia, veneration, the Holy Theotokos (the God Bearer) hyper-doulia, extreme veneration, but to God alone do they render latria, the adoration due to God alone.
This post was to show you what Muslims read in the Quran about a character called "Jesus" or "Isa" -- I call this the Islamic version of Jesus.
It is a completely different character from the real Jesus - as you can read in the text above which is directly from the Quran.
The aim of the post is to show to freepers such as yourself that when a Muslim thinks or argues with us about Jesus, he thinks of this character in the Quran. It's like someone watching the film "Abraham Lincoln the vampire hunter" and thinking this was the real Abe Lincoln.
There is such a thing as “muslim fiction created Jesus” just as you have the fictional Jesus on netflix.
The Islamic version was created in the 8th century and is pure fiction.
This should be known to you and to other Christians to know the enemy (Islam) and how the enemy thinks.
The Muslims are taught (yes, i’ve seen their kids books) that Christians worship a trinity of God, Jesus and Mary. They are taught in the Quran (which they consider the dictated word for word account from Al) that Jesus spoke when he was a new-born and said the words above.
We need to know this when we talk (and we will have a reckoning) with Muslims.
Calm down, man. Jesus went to the cross for Muslims too.
this writing reads like recent Joe Biden wording:
confused,
disjointed,
manipulating/deceiving the reader,
contains buzz words, but not true.
No he didn’t.
No he didn’t.
No. all christians do not venerate saints and worship Mary (your actions are worship no matter how much you play word games with hyper doulia). That is a Roman catholic thing not a christian thing .
Hagar went into the desert with her son...
The moslems claim that it was that son called Ishmael who was to be sacrificed on Mt Moriah by his father Abraham ...
JMA — yes, Jesus did die on the cross to grant redemption all men — the choice is ours to accept this grace or not.
Some Muslims DO - and they leave Islam.
Think in their shoes - they THINK they know about Jesus - but they know the Quranic version of Jesus. So they don’t understand when we talk about Jesus to them - they know a different person called “Jesus”.
Correct. What is hilarious is that for 2000 years no one said it was Ishmael.
And if I am not mistaken, Jesus went to the Cross for ALL humans.
The real Jesus is so incredibly compelling (as we know) that when people of other faiths encounter Him (even in writing), they are shocked by His personality, his demeanor...just by who He is.
It's a wonderful things to hear of how folks of other faiths react when they encounter the Lord.
Well, it is apparent from the writing, this person is not Jesus of the Old and New Testaments.
ramblings of a mad man... If Satan wanted to counter Christianity - he would have someone make up a murderous cult following of perverts... and that’s exactly what occurred with Islam!
Notice that there is no Let it be done to me according to Your will allowed to Mary; the Virgin Birth was already decreed.
Thank you.
