Can you imagine an Apostle Paul who, at the Areopagus in Athens (Acts 17), invites his listeners (followers of various philosophical schools and ancient cults) to unite in prayer, each to his own god/ideal as a sign of fraternity?
Can you imagine an Apostle Peter who, in writing to Christians at the four corners of the Roman Empire (1 Peter 1:1), recommends that they raise petitions together with the faithful of the Eastern, Greek and Roman religions, to invoke the end of a pandemic?
For those who have a basic grasp of the biblical faith, this is pretty absurd. Not for Rome, though. Indeed, the Roman Catholic Church organized a "Day of Prayer and Fasting addressed to believers of all religions" under the auspices of the Higher Committee for Human Fraternity to pray together.
Catholics, Muslims and people of other religions or of no religion were all encouraged to pray to her/his own god or personal ideal for the pandemic to cease.
Before examining the theological problems behind the inter-faith prayer promoted by the Roman Catholic Church, it is important to be aware of the context of this initiative. The aforementioned Higher Committee for Human Fraternity was established in 2019, a few months after the meeting in Abu Dhabi between Pope Francis and Ahmed al-Tayyeb, Grand Imam of al-Azhar, the Muslim University in Cairo (Egypt).

Is it too late for the pope to change his name? Francis should simply become Pope Jeroboam I. And, yes, I know that there were two Jeroboams in the era of the Old Testament. But since this is the era of the New Testament, or to put it in Scriptural terminology, the latter days as opposed to the former days, we should restart the numbering.
Future papal names could be gleaned from the list of Israelite (northern kingdom) kings who succeeded Jeroboam, with Omri, Ahab, and Jehu (this would be for a reformer pope), being reserved for truly special popes. Athaliah, being not of Israel but Judah, could be specially reserved for the first female pope.

It’s like the pope doesn’t think that Christianity has a unique claim. Praying with everybody was not of interest to Peter and Paul because they knew Christ has risen from the dead and saved them. No other religion could say anything like that. Peter and Paul knew what they had. This pope apparently does not. It’s a shame and a scandal. And a heartbreak.
The Bible, the only wholly inspired plenary substantive preserved Written Word of God given to Beloved John, the disciple of Jesus, tells us authoritatively:

They are all partakers of inherently evil deeds together with the other servants of the god of this world.

The Pope apparently conveniently forgets that only the prayers to the One God of the universe will have any real bearing. The others are false gods anyway.
