(LifeSiteNews) In a new biography released on May 4, Pope Benedict makes some statements that highlight his own understanding of his resignation from the papacy. He speaks in this book about the spiritual dimension...which is alone still my mandate. He shows an understanding of his resignation from the papacy, according to which he gave up any concrete legal powers and any role of governance, but at the same time maintained a spiritual mandate.
Pope Benedict XVI answered, in the autumn of 2018, several written questions by his biographer Peter Seewald, which then were included in Seewald's more than 1,000-page-long biography titled Benedict XVI: A Life. This book has been released in German today and will be published in English on November 17.

Catholic ping. My list may be out of date. If you want off, or if you want on, let me know, and I apologize in advance. to any offended by inclusion or exclusion.
He is indeed still Pope.
And the new guy isn’t, and never has been.
I wonder if he regrets it. It’s pretty much been a disaster.
The state is even deeper at the Vatican.
Please add me to your ping list. I had my doubts about the whole resignation and election of Bergolio. Time has removed those doubts. I am now positive Bergolio is a fraud, imposter, usurper, and heretic. Benedict XVI is the True Holy Father.
Anne Barnhardt (bless her) was saying this from day one.
Benedict committed ‘serious error’ under Canon Law 188 when he resigned - the serious error being that he thought he could resign and yet retain this ‘spiritual Pope’ business - and therefore his resignation was not licit.
I'm thinking this was a forced "resignation"...
its all moot.....we have an anti-Catholic pope and we just hope we can live to see brighter days....
Pope Benedict is the only one true pope at the present time. Whether he believes it or not
Thank you for the ping. Please keep me on your list. Thanks.
Well said. I agree.
I have faith that Bergoglio will be gone soon.
To answer the original posters message- this creates a huge mess. Basically throws everything into question regardless of what your diocesan bishop might say.
If it was forced, it is possibly invalid. But a resignation of the papacy can be valid.
But the last one, Celestine V, tried to return to the life of a hermit, and did not designate himself as retaining the “spiritual mandate of the papacy.”
The problem is that even with Bergoglio gone, as Ann Barnhardt has pointed out, the way he’s stacked the College of Cardinals his replacement will be 20 years younger and have 20 more IQ points.
And be equally invalid.
His resignation should be annulled, just like the Church annuls tens of thousands of Catholic weddings every year.
He was not in a proper state of mind, nor were the cardinals that accepted it. He thought he was too old and sick and would soon die. They agreed.
But look! He still lives! God’s will.
Every day that they let Jorge seat his fatass in the chair is a day they sin.
I’m Catholic, BTW, but protesting, no less than early Luther did.
Catholic Ping about Pope Benedict XVI.
Interesting aspect, here.
