I just spoke to my very close friend Norm and found him very depressed and dejected.
Norm and I are like brothers and because he now lives 2000 miles away we can only visit on the phone.
Until June 2019 Norm who is 83 and a veteran lives by himself was an active member of his community and sung in his church each Sunday.
Then his health started to go and he is left with bowel problems that keep in a shut in. He is now despondent and angry even at God. I need you praying with me for Norm to help him get his spiritual and physical life back - please remember him in your prayers
Prayers for Norm and you too.
Getting old sucks. So much is adjusting and appreciating what you have. And of course, waiting on God in full faith. Prayers for you both.
Not being negative towards your friend but rather at his church which should be reaching out to him in his time of need......
Prayers up for Norm that he will see God’s grace and also for you to have the right words to help comfort him.
This is awful, I hope Norm gets his peace and happiness back, ageing can really be challenging as our health declines and we find ourselves surrounded by fewer friends.

The Veteran’s Administration has outreach programs that may be able to help. Contact your nearest VA office to describe the situation and to see what’s available.
Please try to contact any local veteran’s organizations in Norm’s area. There are groups that will visit him or make sure he gets visits. The county Veterans Affairs officer is where I would start.
If he belongs to the VFW or American Legion, there are local posts that might help also.
And I will pray that your friend gets the comfort he deserves as he looks towards his reward of everlasting life.

Every day I remind myself of a response Clint Eastwood gave when asked how he still directs movies at 89. “Don’t let the old man in” was his reply. Prayers for your friend. It’s tough getting old!

I’ll pray for Norm. He needs to be grateful for the 83 years he’s had. A whole lot of people never got that old, or had the chance to enjoy the things in life that Norm has. He’s feeling sorry for himself, and I understand that. Getting old sucks, and no one wants to lose their independence, or be a burden on anyone else. I pray he will come out of his slump so he can enjoy what years he has left.
