Sorry, God does not have a “mother” as in your vernacular.

Mary was the mother of Jesus. Christians believe Jesus is God. Hence, orthodox Christians have always believed Mary is the mother of God. To say otherwise is to say Jesus is not God.

Of course, we do not rest faith upon the tradition of St. Mary’s dormition and assumption into heaven; faith clings to Jesus Christ alone and finds true peace and Sabbath rest forever in Him.

Here is an example of evangelical practice. Having served alongside the author of this piece for several years I can attest to a consistent example of holding firm when necessary, and refraining from the same when not.

On a side note, it is something of a surprise to see this posted here.

The words *mother of Jesus* are a descriptor of MARY, not a statement of who Jesus was.

The phrase *mother of Jesus* was used by the Holy Spirit to distinguish that Mary from some of the other Mary's in the NT.

It never was a statement about the deity of Jesus.

In Luke when Mary is visiting Elizabeth —

Elizabeth filled with the Holy Spirit says, “How is this that the Mother of my Lord should visit me?”

I guess the Catholic god is not eternal since He was bon from Mary.

Apparently, neither is the Protestant god. This article is by a Protestant pastor.

.........................

1:43 By “Lord” Elizabeth meant Jesus, not the entire Godhead. Jesus is God, but not all of God is Jesus. Consequently the Bible never ascribes the title “Mother of God” to Mary. She was the mother of Jesus, who was Elizabeth’s Lord, since He was God.

However, God is and was. .He is present past and future... all in one... he was not born.. Jesus was... the quote was Mother of God... God had no mother as far as we know...

I realize Jesus is God...the Son of God... God sent His only begotten Son.... Jesus was born .. not as we are... for the Holy Spirit was the implanter.

Same topic, same date of observance, same arguments that will ensue over the claim that Mary is the “Mother of God”. Will you welcome the discussions and respect other’s beliefs or castigate and mock those who disagree with it? God says He hates “one who sows discord among brethren” (Prov. 6:19). I guess we will see.

Sure, I already have. This article is by a Protestant pastor.

God says He hates “one who sows discord among brethren”

Then don't sow it.

“The words *mother of Jesus* are a descriptor of MARY, not a statement of who Jesus was.”

Jesus’ very name is statement about who He is. And have you forgotten Luke 1:43:

But why am I so favored, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?

MOTHER OF MY LORD. Is Lord a descriptor of Jesus or Mary? Pretty obviously of Jesus, right?

“I realize Jesus is God”

And Jesus is His mother. Either Mary gave birth to Jesus or she didn’t. Either Jesus is God or He isn’t. Either the Bible is true on these things or it isn’t. Choose. Carefully.

Wow, what an ignorant statement.

Jesus has the power from God.. HE is God’s son.. Jesus came to the earth... God did not come in a person... they are 2 entities... not one... Jesus was born. God was not born. You can say Jesus was the son of Mary.. God was not a son of Mary.
