Ahh.... marry women?
Pope AntiChrist.
Plenty of Muslims need jobs. How about letting Muslims be Catholic priests?
not a problem...they did for centuries...
I think the article is misleading. It has never been permissible for a deacon or priest to get married, ever. What had been allowed in the past was for a married man to be ordained a priest or deacon.
What the article, I think, means to say is...Francis wants the Pan Amazon synod to consider ordaining married men for the priest crisis there. This would allegedly be on an “experimental” basis; i.e., will try it here and ram it down everyone else’s throats later.
In my opinion, that would be an unwise concession to the modern age. Just Francis the Wrecking Ball continuing to plow away.
Gene Robinson, the first openly gay bishop in the US Episcopal Church,
has announced he is divorcing his partner of 25 years.
I think it doesn’t matter at all.
Bergoglio is a constant menace. He is a Communist.
Maybe I’m missing something, but I think the headline is wrong. It’s not that Francis is asking, it’s that someone is asking Francis.
From the article:
A request to lift the ban on marriage was made by Brazilian bishop Cardinal Claudio Hummes, who reportedly asked the Pope to consider viri probati, meaning married of great faith, as priests.
Priests getting married like normal men...
Certainly can’t hurt the body of Christ and the RCC failthful.
Marriage rounds out a man, gives him a deeper understanding of the female sex...among many other things.
And become Episcopalians.
Eastern Rite churches in communion with the Roman Catholic Church already permit married priests.
As a Protestant, I don’t have a dog in this fight, and I have no issue with married clergy. However, this particular pope has a less than stellar record of enforcing Church doctrine as it is.
I suspect this comes more out of his sense of “social justice” rather than a sober judgement of how to attract and retain faithful priests to spread the Gospel. I could respect and disagree with both John Paul II and Benedict XVI. They were both deeply committed to serving our Lord and their church.
Ironically, I can agree more with Francis while respect him much less. I doubt his commitment, which is frankly just sad.
They’ll probably end up marrying each other.
I think its a mistranslation. So far as I know, this would mean ordaining men who were already married (such as catechists, deacons, etc.) in these remote areas, not allowing priests to marry.
However, I think its a mistake in any case. These men will not be educated at all, beyond whatever rudimentary knowledge they have as catechists, they will be able to celebrate mass but not do anything else (confession, for example) and will basically be bringing back a horrible older model, the so-called mass priest who was one of the sources of clerical scandal in the Middle Ages.
I still think we (the Catholic Church) should follow the model of Christ. Was he married? No!
Great news!
Scripture never mentions any requirement to be single.
Of course, there are no popes nor priests as NT church offices... so there’s that too.
Finally the traitor in the Vatican has come up with something that I can support. Hopefully, it will shrink the universe of homosexuals and pedophiles in the priesthood.
This might be about the only thing I agree with him about.
Does he need to ask permission from his subordinates? Can't he just issue a papal decree or something?
Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron, forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from foods which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth.
