With remarkable insouciance, NYT writers Jeremy W. Peters and Lizette Alvarez blithely make reference to a Bible verse from Romans that calls for the execution of gays, meaning Saint Pauls letter to the Romans 1:18-32.
As anyone who has ever read the New Testament knows, Saint Paul never permits that Christians should commit any violence whatsoever against homosexuals, but the Times editors apparently thought that fact-checking with the original text was superfluous or that readers were too ignorant to check for themselves.
The Times report, titled After Orlando, a Political Divide on Gay Rights Still Stands, follows on the fatal shooting of 49 people in the Pulse nightclub by a 29-year-old Muslim who had pledged allegiance to the Islamic State. In the wake of the attack, many have tried to compare Christian beliefs regarding the morality of homosexuality with those of Islam, in an apparent attempt to make Christians guilty by association.
The biblical passage in question actually speaks of Gods anger toward sinners who reject God despite the abundance of evidence for his existence in creation. It says that those who failed to honor God became futile in their thinking, and their senseless minds were darkened.
Saint Paul continues: Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the degrading of their bodies among themselves.
For this reason God gave them up to degrading passions. Their women exchanged natural intercourse for unnatural, and in the same way also the men, giving up natural intercourse with women, were consumed with passion for one another. Men committed shameless acts with men and received in their own persons the due penalty for their error, he wrote.

NYT referenced the article at http://www.rollcall.com/news/politics/bible-verse-homosexuals-heard-house-gop-prior-vote which won’t let me C&P but says a GA rep read from the Romans passage and from Rev 22:15-16. The site is “Roll Call” but the article refers to itself as CQ; is this an electronic form of Congressional Quarterly? If so, this is a travesty.
The Revelation passage says that whoever adds to the prophecy will receive the plagues of Revelation and whoever deletes from the prophecy will lose salvation. It seems clear to me that the warning regards whether we are willing to listen to God, or whether we ignore Him and go our own way. The depraved mind that is hostile to God is what is dangerous, and those who accept that mindset of depravity bring God’s judgment on themselves and on their society.
The GA rep did not mention any legislation, but simply gave the warning from Scripture regarding the depravity that comes from naming oneself God.
Greed, gossip, murder... can there be a better description of Washington, DC? This is about a LOT more than just homosexual behavior.
At this point the only thing that can save this nation is divine intervention, and a people that chooses depravity over truth cannot receive that intervention; they will reject it. What we need to be saved from is our own depravity as a society - depravity that keeps people from being able to see the truth right in front of their faces. The Soviets called it “demoralization”. The communist plan for how to destroy this nation, which was read into the Congressional Record way back in the early 60’s IIRC, was to push the things that would demoralize - remove the morality. Abortion, promiscuity, drugs, atheism, homosexuality, divorce... anything that would break individuals and their families was the means for breaking this nation. And it has been very, very effective. When Christians stop being salty and adopt the same depravity as the meat, they stop preserving the meat and it’s just a matter of time before the meat is rotten and putrid. The communists understood that well, and that is why they resolved to first make America a depraved people. After that, we would be easy to destroy.
And the Romans, if they were around to tell us what they learned, would warn us too. It’s the story of every civilization that has fallen. They always fall from their own rottenness.
The abysmal Congressional approval ratings, the landslide elections... those are warnings to Congress but they refuse to listen. They’ve heard God’s Word and in response they have accused God of evil. Unless there is some drastic change, this nation cannot stand. The GA rep is right to be concerned. Neither “CQ” (whatever that means) nor the NYT is capable of being truly concerned for the survival of this nation; they are way beyond that, and they are on track to take the rest of the nation over the cliff with them.
After the muzzie murdered gays in Orlando, the left has been frantically looking for ways to take the blame from muzzies and put it on Christians. They are trying everything they can imagine, taking a shot at everything, hoping something will stick.
This one was a big failure, but it shows how desperate they are to eliminate Christianity and replace it with the middle eastern death cult.
Not the first time I have seen a bible reference to a chastisement arranged by God, taken as though it were something that Christians took upon themselves to do to the malefactors.
Venereal disease and disfigurement would be some obvious consequences in this category.
IOW, disease has ALWAYS been a consequence of homosexual behavior.
We are fast approaching a liberal Kristallnacht against Christians which I think will happen by the end of the decade. God sees and knows and He is looking to see who will stand with Him and not the pop culture.
The NY Slimes makes the same mistake that leftists and liberals make all the time. They are firmly convinced that ALL the People are as stupid as they are.
Liberals will now be repeating it over and over until it becomes “common knowledge” that Paul actually said that somewhere in the New Testament.
Yet, people who are Biblically literate are on the increase again, as the Internet makes the Bible instantly available to anyone who is willing to check!
I’m afraid, though, that this will now join the Liberal Litany of Lies that masquerade as news.
Karma Light?! ROFL!
So, I'm a Lay Karma Light - I've been spelling it wrong all these years!
Just doing the Devil’s work for him.
“Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?”
NYT = tool of Satan
Shameless.
Of course, so is most of mankind.
The hard narrow path is not crowded.
Our job is to show others they need not stay on the expressway to Hell.
Satan’s mission is to make that expressway desirable. He’s good at it too.
Methinks the NYT may be the next newspaper to be banned by Trump....a little off the subject, I know.
The Nazi’s said that Jews did those blood libels and of all kinds of horrible things. Given an evil world, such lies stick.
Rom 1:27
Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received
in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.
NIV
Due Penalty exhibit A:
Omar Mateen:
Insane, Murderous, Homosexual Muslim Pervert.
Excellent observation because it is true.
It can be further summarized in a single word:
Reprobate
Romans 1:28
28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind,
They have rejected grace and chosen instead to embraced the cravings of their sinful nature...
Eph 2:1-3
As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, 2 in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. 3 All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our sinful nature and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature objects of wrath.
NIV
St. Paul lists a lot of other offenses that are all "worthy of death" including being disobedient to parents, but he doesn't summon his readers to carry out the sentence.
