I am hosting a dinner and movie night for my pastor, his wife and other church members. I am turning to Freepers for some good Christian movie recommendations.
The last night like this we enjoyed "War Room". What might be some other uplifting suggestions? Missionary stories, church history r current or whatever.
Thanks to all in advance.
The Robe, Ben Hur, The Passion of the Christ, God’s Not Dead.
Amazing Grace
A Man Called Peter
If you want something older, “Sergeant York” (1941) is good. If you were Catholic, I would say “The Miracle of Our Lady of Fatima” (1952). Two movies which I love.

anybody see God’s Not Dead.
it is recent and was VERY good.
Recent theatrical release “Woodlawn” is available “on-demand” on cable and satellite services and possibly on DVD.
In theaters this weekend, Risen looks very promising.
those are all great and he inn of the six happiness was a story about a missionary in china. Ingrid bergman reportedly became a christian after playing the part and visiting the missionary’s friend after the missionary passed away. Might not be as strong as “Gods not dead” but it is a very nice movie.
It depends. Does your audience like classic films in black and white? If so, then you have a world to choose from. Do they enjoy foreign films with subtitles? Then you have a world to choose from. Do they only like movies made in the last ten years - out of Hollywood - then you are lost, my friend. If the answer to my first two questions is “yes,” I have many suggestions.
Netflix is currently streaming “The Drop Box”.
It is a must-see for any believer!
Focus on the Family’s summary of the film reads...
The inspiring film about Pastor Lee Jong-rak who takes in and raises unwanted babies dropped in a box at his house in South Korea.
Chariots of Fire followed by a discussion of the 4th Commandment
Luther
Lady Jane (brief nudity)
Cromwell
Ditto that.
the inn of the six happiness, it’s called?
Luther (2003)
Chariots of Fire (1980)
The Scarlet and the Black (1983)
Good Soil (2007)
“Do you believe”
For later. Thanks
Thank you all for such wonderful suggestions. Dinner and movie night is set now for the foreseeable future.
