VATICAN CITY – Michael Sam, the NFL’s first openly gay player, got engaged to boyfriend Vito Cammisano last week while on vacation in Italy.
Popular entertainment and gossip site TMZ mentioned the news on January 8, but Michael Sam kept silent on social media until January 16, when he tweeted out the following photo:
Sam popped the question atop St. Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City.

To bad he didn’t pop the question in Mecca, since he wanted to fight for justice. The Catholic Church will tell him he’s sinning - the Muslims will hang him and his betrothed from cranes in a marketplace. Seems he traded an opportunity to make a real difference in the world for mere snark. What a surprise.
When are they going to get the balls to go after Islam? A religtion that doesn't just tut-tut about their lifestyle, but cut-cuts off their heads.
To each his own: I wish him the very best and find it perfectly appropriate they chose the capital city of the former church for their engaygement.
The reporter, Kevis S Held, must be a queer, because he doesn’t understand the NFL or sports in general. An “NFL Player” is someone who is a member of a team. Someone who tries out for a team, but is cut because of substandard ability, is not considered to be a member of a team.
Someone needs to ask this reporter if he is a queer, or just plane stupid.
Of course they had to sully Vatican City with their antics. It is the same reason they choose Christian bakeries for their cakes.
What will happen to them someday, when they can’t “make news” to try to fill the emptiness with media attention?

If he focused as much on football as he does at being gay, he would have made the pro bowl by now.
