Cutting and plastering the same assertions is not an argument.
Your posts are propaganda pieces even Obola would blush at.
Please gain some insight from this quote:
“People should know when they are conquered.”-—Quintus
Not this one.
He knows that a CATHOLIC decided to make the bible easier to understand.
But don't worry...
...nothing got changed in the process.
FR Catholics, unable to counter with the FACT about the seven churches in Asia; teaching error from the VERY FIRST; will IGNORE the whole rotten mess and ramble on about some Protestants they have judged.
Surely by now, the albatross of Rome's errors, stinketh.
You may begin, after you disavow Martin Luther and his doctrine of Baalam.
Which once again does not prove your assertion, any more other ones I reproved. A look inside those study guides will not show a collection of doctrinal teachings, with a few Scripture texts referenced, which is hardly a study guide for the Bible, but will contain the 66 books (or more) of the Bible with some commentary on them.
And rather than all Bible study guides attempting to show you what is meant by individual verses in the KJV, I can show you classic Prot. commentaries that differ with the rendering of the KJV in some places, and thus their meaning, and many even leave out parts that are found in the KJV,
The KJV can be overall closer to a RC Bible than some of the newer translations, while the your own RC sanctioned translations are hardly uniform.
You can wail all you want, but the real the mess results in a denial of Petrine authority as established by the early Church Fathers whose theological insights and historical scholarship gave us the books and arranged them in the order they that we call the Bible.
The Bible does not self interpret itself. Since these first theologians, a stellar constellation of successor theologians, many of whom are Catholic saints and doctors of the church, to say nothing of the innumerable Protestant and Evangelical theologians, who after a lifetime of Bible study and teaching, have converted to Catholicism.
The incontestable scriptural proof backed by sacred tradition and ritual over 2000 years is sufficient testament to this abiding truth and the truth in the Holy Eucharist and the celebration of the Mass.
Perhaps this is all beyond the ken and reach of the simplistic minded Joel Osteens, the David Koreshs, and Billy Grahams, and the corner street Foursquare Church self-appointed pastors but it is an abiding truth embraced by saints, martyrs, stigmatists, converts of every religious stripe, agnostic and atheists included.
Why is this not enough for you? Why is “your” interpretation of scripture more believable than what David Koresh, Jimmy Swaggart, Jim Jones, Rev. Moon, the Mormons, and Jehovah’s Witnesses’ and their millions of followers all sincerely believe to be “their” interpretation of the truth?
Where do you get your “authority” to assert that “your” interpretation is definite?
I can’t find anywhere in scripture that the keys to the kingdom of heaven were given to any of the above and the guaranty that any of the “churches” to which the above belong will have Christ as their assurance “until the end of time.”
I await a response with bated breath.
**Church Fathers whose theological insights and historical scholarship gave us the books and arranged them in the order they that we call the Bible.**
Rome didn’t give us those books! They Holy Spirit did!
Why can’t a Catholic ever answer a question without saying *I will if you answer this first* and then hoping that everyone will forget about the question he was asked that obviously he can’t answer.
Deflection 101.
That’s quite a statement. Such would be removing much of Augustine’s writings. Not to mention Paul, Peter and John.
The lengths one will go to defend and rehabilitate Luther amaze me. It reinforces my view that Protestantism/Evangelicalism is founded on Martin Luther.
Wow! The Hoy Spirit just dropped those books from the skies and they arranged themselves in the exact order in which we find them. What I think you are trying to say is that the Holy Spirit guided the early Church fathers and has been with the Church ever since. This of course proves why outside the Catholic Church, all the rest is preachery froth.
If that is the magical way you want to look at it, go right ahead.
But agents of God’s will should not receive a mystical high five for doing what the Holy Spirit guided them to do.
Thus, when you give to the needy, sound no trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may be praised by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you. The Lord's Prayer
And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites. For they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.
If the RCC is taking all that kind of credit for doing God's work, they need to be careful of blowing their trumpet before men.
They have their reward already.
No one owes ANYTHING to the Catholic church for merely being the instruments by which God did something in this world.
They need to remember that God used an ass to talk to Balaam. Being used by God is no measure of spirituality and bragging on it will not end well.
Herod in Acts 12:21-23 On an appointed day Herod put on his royal robes, took his seat upon the throne, and delivered an oration to them. And the people were shouting, The voice of a god, and not of a man! Immediately an angel of the Lord struck him down, because he did not give God the glory, and he was eaten by worms and breathed his last.
Its not about blowing trumpets. Its about the one and only Church, Christ Himself founded. All these out of context scriptural quotes are old hat that even eminent Protestant theologians have now discounted and converted to Catholicism. That is the plain fact.
There is a reason I think these Bible Christians see the Bible the simplistic way they do. They haven been “Gruberized” by the local corner street Foursquare Church pastors and the likes of the Schullers, Billy Grahams, and Osteen. TD Jakes, etc whose congregations are mainly middle-aged women who cannot reason beyond the shallow waters of superficial readings of Bible text.
The works of Augustine, Aquinas, Newman, and Benedict are too profound for these congregations. They form part of the same crowd that watch Oprah. So their pastors know these folks are too “stupid” to understand the full breadth of scripture, history, sacred ritual and practice.
They sell them these frothy preachy discourses on the Bible and of good reason. If the congregation becomes educated, they will lost their ministries and with than their profitable source of income. One might ask “Where’s the beef”?
They are accustomed to Christianity Lite. Be treated to a theatrical interoperation of the Bible as “he/she” sees it, surround yourself with lights, band, music, clapping, get some doughnuts and coffee, and then pass the collection basket. No need for the sacraments, the attendance at a solemn Mass, the Eucharist, etc. Just be happy. Ignorance is bliss, empty your purse and go home.
The church HE founded is not the abomination found in Rome. It is made up of all those who look to HIM alone for their Salvation.
You are drawing those conclusions. The issue was Luther a theologian. I answered NKP on the matter.
So yes Luther’s views on Jews was very Roman Catholic as he was educated by RCs.
Luther is not my pope.
Follow Christ Jesus, not man.
I don't believe one can separate Luther into two or three men, Luther the theologian, Luther the enemy of the Jewish people, and Luther the betrayer of the Anabaptists, et al.
Luther rebelled against the Catholic Church and formed his own doctrines; on salvation, the church, and the Jews. The Catholic Church excommunicated Luther. Protestantism owns Luther. AFAIK, only the Independent Fundamental Baptists disavow Luther.
There have always been stories in Protestant circles of Catholics, including clergy, becoming Protestants. However, according to FR Catholics, all such stories are "bigotry" and must be pulled.
Luther ended up doing what many of the popes in history did.
Why does this surprise you?
Who would should we obey? God or man? Two men asked that question in the early church.
Follow Christ not fallen men.
It seems to me that, in order to save Luther, Protestantism would sacrifice all of historical Christianity as equally antiSemitic, making Matthew 25 of none effect. Further, the defense of Luther suggests to me that being born again in the sense of Luther is a farce, as the works do not accompany the faith. Not only was Luther the enemy of the Jewish people, he was the enemy of the Anabaptists, and any other assembly forbidding infant baptism.
Who would should we obey? God or man? Two men asked that question in the early church. Follow Christ not fallen men. Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.
General Principles. The Roman Church does not claim any jurisdiction over persons who have not been baptized; therefore the relations of the popes, as the heads of the Church, to the Jews have been limited to rules regarding the political, commercial, and social conditions under which Jews might reside in Christian states. As sovereigns of the Papal States the popes further had the right to legislate on the status of their Jewish subjects. Finally, voluntary action was occasionally taken by the popes on behalf of the Jews who invoked their aid in times of persecution, seeking their mediation as the highest ecclesiastical authorities. The general principles governing the popes in their treatment of the Jews are practically identical with those laid down in the Justinian Code: (1) to separate them from social intercourse with Christians as far as possible; (2) to prevent them from exercising any authority over Christians, either in a public (as officials) or a private capacity (as masters or employers); (3) to arrange that the exercise of the Jewish religion should not assume the character of a public function. On the other hand, however, the popes have always condemned, theoretically at least, (1) acts of violence against the Jews, and (2) forcible baptism. As concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes: but as touching the election, they are beloved for the fathers' sakes. He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now. He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him. But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes. So the angel that communed with me said unto me, Cry thou, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; I am jealous for Jerusalem and for Zion with a great jealousy. And I am very sore displeased with the heathen that are at ease: for I was but a little displeased, and they helped forward the affliction. For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.
