I knew you just made it up.

Oh?

Mary is STILL dead and all your prayers to her are wasted time you could be feeding the poor and healing the sick.

Have you NO shame at all?

1 And the third day, there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee: and the mother of Jesus was there.

2 And Jesus also was invited, and his disciples, to the marriage.

4 And Jesus saith to her: Woman, what is that to me and to thee? my hour is not yet come.

Matthew 12:46-50 Douay-Rheims 1899 American Edition (DRA)

46 As he was yet speaking to the multitudes, behold his mother and his brethren stood without, seeking to speak to him.

47 And one said unto him: Behold thy mother and thy brethren stand without, seeking thee.

48 But he answering him that told him, said: Who is my mother, and who are my brethren?

49 And stretching forth his hand towards his disciples, he said: Behold my mother and my brethren.

50 For whosoever shall do the will of my Father, that is in heaven, he is my brother, and sister, and mother.

Luke 2:41-52 Douay-Rheims 1899 American Edition (DRA)

41 And his parents went every year to Jerusalem, at the solemn day of the pasch,

42 And when he was twelve years old, they going up into Jerusalem, according to the custom of the feast,

43 And having fulfilled the days, when they returned, the child Jesus remained in Jerusalem; and his parents knew it not.

44 And thinking that he was in the company, they came a day’s journey, and sought him among their kinsfolks and acquaintance.

45 And not finding him, they returned into Jerusalem, seeking him.

46 And it came to pass, that, after three days, they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, hearing them, and asking them questions.

47 And all that heard him were astonished at his wisdom and his answers.

48 And seeing him, they wondered. And his mother said to him: Son, why hast thou done so to us? behold thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing.

49 And he said to them: How is it that you sought me? did you not know, that I must be about my father’s business?

He then takes out the middle unleavened cake, breaks it in two, and hides away one-half under a pillow or cushion, to be distributed and eaten after supper. If this practice existed in the time of Christ, it is not improbable that it was from this portion, called afikoman, that the Eucharist was instituted. As soon as this portion is laid aside, the other half is replaced, the dish containing the unleavened cakes is uncovered, and all, standing up, take hold of the dish and solemnly lift it up, chanting slowly in Aramaic:
"This is the bread of affliction which our fathers ate in Egypt. This year here, next year in Jerusalem. This year slaves, next year free."

The head of the house then tells how their fathers were idolaters when God chose Abraham, how they were slaves in Egypt, how God delivered them, etc. God is praised and blessed for His wondrous mercies to their nation, and this first part of the ceremony is brought to a close by their breaking forth with the recitation of the first part of the Hallel (Psalms 112 and 114) and drinking the second cup of wine, which is triumphantly held aloft and called the cup of the Haggadah or story of deliverance.

Irrelevant to the discussion. We were discussing theologians departing Rome. Luther et. al. were mentioned.

>>So give me a that story of a well-known Catholic theologian who said the Catholic Church was wrong and protestantism was right. If you can’t don’t bother answering back.<< Dr of theology Martin Luther. 216 posted on Wed Nov 12 2014 18:11:34 GMT+0000 (GMT) by redleghunter (But let your word 'yes be 'yes,' and your 'no be 'no.' It seems to me that is your post introducing Martin Luther into evidence, so to speak. I cannot imagine appealing to a man who plotted the destruction of the Jewish people for religious doctrine, guidance, or example (other than that of Baalam). I find it incongruent with the Scriptures and cognitive dissonance.

Correct I answered his question.

You are introducing new discussion points irrelevant to the line of discussion.

Glad you noticed. Sometimes these kinds of threads devolve into inanity and I’d cease from wasting my time trying to keep up with the rabbit trails. Sometimes, though, the longer someone continues to throw up detours, the more foolishness they expose in their arguments.

It’s a wonder he didn’t lose his head.

Yup; Catholicism is a LOVING denomination alright!

And it wasn't as if they didn't TRY to execute him. Luther had friends and sympathizers who helped protect him against the murderous designs of the Pope. I also think God was on his side, too. ;o)

It was true that you introduced Luther. I objected based on his record of unrepentant vicious hatred for the Jews. You could have introduced Baalam instead. At least we know God really spoke to him.

“Likewise, there is no “Once a Catholic; always a Catholic.”
That’s a Catholic delusion.”

No. If you’re validly baptized a Catholic, then you are a validly baptized Catholic. There’s no way to wash away baptism. If someone is received into the Church after baptism elsewhere, they are still a member of the Church even if they become a lapsed Catholic. It’s just that simple.

There’s no way to wash away baptism.

Yet you say that baptism saves you.

You can't be UNSAVED if a Catholic?

“Yet you say that baptism saves you.”

It’s grace, yes.

“You can’t be UNSAVED if a Catholic?”

Anyone can lose their salvation by refusing God’s grace through their lack of faith and sin. A Catholic cannot wash away his baptism. He can, however, sin and go to hell.

Everyone in Heaven is Catholic (Catholic by God’s grace in some way if not by the grace of Baptism). Not everyone in Hell is Catholic, but plenty of Catholics will be there.

So baptism saves you except when it doesn’t.

Only someone brainwashed could rationalize Catholic thinking like that.

“So baptism saves you except when it doesn’t.”

No, baptism always works because it’s God’s work, but men can refuse what God freely gives them. They have refused many times.

“Only someone brainwashed could rationalize Catholic thinking like that.”

No, we see things clearly. God doesn’t save men against their will. He offers. They either accept or refuse. God never fails. Man does quite often.

Bible Christians are no better than followers of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Mormons, Mennonites. They think the Bible fell from the skies and automatically assembled itself into chapters and verses.

Despite the incontrovertible evidence that the selection of these books was approved by Petrine authority on the work of the early Church Fathers, their validity confirmed by the oral tradition, and their interpretation handed down by contemporaries of the apostles, these folks simply think they can each individually crack open the pages of the Bible and do a David Koresh, Jim Jones, TD Jakes, Al Sharpton, Joel Osteen, and yet they can’t figure out who is right and wrong by reference to authority.

They engage in circular reason by saying, the Bible is their “authority” as if the Bible self-interprets but this leads to individual interpretations that split into thousands of sects, which now includes mainline Lutheran, Presbyterian, and Evangelical Church who now as part of “their” Bible beliefs accept homesexual and lesbian pastors.
