CATECHISM OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH SECOND EDITION
PART ONE THE PROFESSION OF FAITH SECTION TWO THE PROFESSION OF THE CHRISTIAN FAITH
CHAPTER THREE I BELIEVE IN THE HOLY SPIRIT
ARTICLE 9 "I BELIEVE IN THE HOLY CATHOLIC CHURCH"
Paragraph 6. Mary - Mother of Christ, Mother of the Church
963 Since the Virgin Mary's role in the mystery of Christ and the Spirit has been treated, it is fitting now to consider her place in the mystery of the Church. "The Virgin Mary . . . is acknowledged and honored as being truly the Mother of God and of the redeemer. . . . She is 'clearly the mother of the members of Christ' . . . since she has by her charity joined in bringing about the birth of believers in the Church, who are members of its head."502 "Mary, Mother of Christ, Mother of the Church."503
Pearls before swine.
If someone reading this as a lurker is considering entering the Catholic Church, please don’t let what you read here stop you or cause you to feel nervous about that decision.
If you are not already in a RCIA program, all parishes offer this instruction for persons interested in being received into the faith.
If you want more information, presented in a way much better than I can do here and without the distraction of anti Catholics, then go to any good Catholic website and you can find tons of info freely offered!
I am not sure if I am allowed to list them here but they are easily found through googling.
God Bless you in your journey. What you find will be well worth the effort.
“You make the claim to be a ‘catholic’, but not a Roman one.”
I said I am Catholic - which is catholic - but that I am not “Roman Catholic”.
“I merely wondered how this could be.”
Simple.
“You have refused to explain.”
It needs no explaining.
“And I have a ‘problem’?”
You said it.
“Too many apples - not enough oranges.”
We’re only making cider.
“You are linking things that need not be.”
Nope.
“This is true. But the REASONING behind it is NOT mentioned.”
Not mentioned by whom?
“The same GOD said the very rocks would cry out if men did not; so what difference does it make as to what makes me glad?”
The difference is that you said, “and we all all glad that He did.”

...give an answer to everyone who asks...
except swine?
I sure did!
MAybe I wasn't clear enough for some.
Let's try...
and we all ARE glad that He did"
Better?
I could give an answer, even to swine, but the swine would still want muck.
That does not nullify what Scripture plainly says to do.
I wonder if Peter knew at this time that many more things would be coming along that we Christians would be told were 'needed'?
Or--- sort-of like a car rental outfit insisting one need buy insurance for the rental car (for an extra $15-$20 per day) when one's own vehicle insurance (that car in the shop since some other car crashed into it) covers car rentals already -- no extra charge.
bttt
As one who is not new to the RF or this debate, I well understand that many have given more than sufficient answers from Scriptures regarding this topic and a myriad of others. It has not been enough thus far for some here; of whom I am well aware.
Not everyone questions from a sincere desire to know and understand or is disposed to acknowledge the validity of such claims. Even when given Scripture it is dismissed.
Funny, considering the accusation that Catholics do not know and cannot debate from Scripture. It is a lose, lose situation for us and I choose not to play the game with an opponent. I would happily discuss these things with a friend.
I stand ready to give an answer for my beliefs to those who stand ready to listen with an open heart.
As one involved this 'debate', I'd say that THOUSANDS of words quoted from church fathers are quite 'sufficient' for Certain Catholics; but they don't impress a knowledgeable Protestant at all.
And a Lurker?
Who knows what they come away with, by seeing all of the contortions that are tossed about, by those wishing to JUSTIFY a practice that is not found simply in Scripture, but spun from fragments and tidbits of verse and men's opinions.
Dismissed?
I'd say proven inaccurate.
Sincere?
I'm afraid Scripture does NOT allow that luxury of picking your audience.
Oh?
I'm afraid Scripture does NOT allow that luxury of picking your audience.
This thread is meant to cause controversy and hate amongst Christian believers and also an avenue for atheists, Catholic haters and others to mock the beliefs of others. I can only warn others to avoid commentary... you WILL BE MOCKED and your comments deleted if considered inappropriate.

You are not only 797 replies too late; but you failed to follow your own advice.
