There are terrorists among us.
Not terrorists like those who attacked us on Sept. 11, but ones just as dangerous.
Terrorists who destroy lives, skirt the law and prey on the innocent. These terrorists arent just among us here in America either. They are a multi-national force that has been around for thousands of years.
These terrorists are the Catholic Church and they need to be stopped.
Were all familiar with the scandal; so much so, in fact, that all one has to do is mention Catholic priest, and people instantly know to what scandal you refer.

I don't post on here very often at all anymore, but I admit that once I stopped grinding my teeth my first thought was that this is a situation in which I could use a good FReep.
So, FReepers, your assistance would be most welcome. Do you find this article irritating? Ill-informed? (The letter referenced a few paragraphs into the article was written by Cardinal Castrillon Hoyos, not then-Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger.) An example of ludicrous journalistic (if this article can be dignified as such) bias? Even, perhaps, bigoted? Let your opinions be heard!
Chuck Fain (Author of the article, Opinion Editor of The Rambler): cmfain@txwes.edu
Dr. Harold Jeffcoat, President, Texas Wesleyan University: hjeffcoat@txwes.edu
Dr. Steven Daniells, Dean of the School of Arts and Letters: sdaniells@txwes.edu
Dr. Kay Colley, Student Media Director (Dr. Colley interviews and hires the student editors): kcolley@txwes.edu
Kelli Lamers, Faculty Advisor to The Rambler: klamers@txwes.edu
Prefer to let your disgust be "heard" via pen? 1201 Wesleyan Street, Fort Worth, TX 76105
Perhaps you communicate best via telephone? In that case, dial 817-531-4444 and ask to speak to whichever administrator you'd prefer. The Rambler's number--answered Monday and Wednesday 10-5 and Friday 10-3--is 817-531-7552.
Your assistance is most gratefully received. Should anything occur publicly about this (a statement in The Rambler, perhaps?) I will, of course, put up a link to it here on an update post.
Thank you all for your assistance.
b-chan: you don’t know me, as I post very rarely here—I lurk far more than I post—but BlackElk suggested that I ping you when he and I spoke earlier today about this column in The Rambler. I hope you don’t mind.
Is there a reason they’re called “A skull full of mush”
I’m going to sit back and watch on this one, but I’ve pinged some people who will find this very interesting.
When an article includes statements such as “These terrorists are the Catholic Church and they need to be stopped” there is no point in continuing reading.
This is merely long-winded Catholic-bashing, as opposed to the briefer Catholic-bashing that is the usual sport of those who do not know her.
I invite Salvation to add some substance to my statements.
I emailed a couple of them...this...
Was this written for a University newspaper? Really? It is so full of garbage. You are aware that EDUCATORS molest/abuse children at a MUCH greater rate than priests, are you not? It’s not an excuse. It’s a fact that needs to be made clear. A little research would be useful. Don’t they teach research any longer at University? You owe the Catholic Church an apology. And, no, I am not even a Catholic.
It was suicide to get on her bad side.
We couldn`t stop her nohow. Watch out!
If you bombed in class, your knuckles were soon red.
As a Conservative Protestant, Christmas and Easter Presbyterian, former TV network newsie, I find this article vile and disgusting.
Apparently, there are a multitude of dumbarse people who either have no clue what “terror” is or habitually misinterpret and then utilize the word “terror” when some other word would have sufficed. No wonder people are confused and misguided when it comes to “terror” and “terrorism”.....=.=
Wow!
I don’t suppose there’s any chance of resurrecting Sister Mary Patrick and sending her over the the editorial and administrative offices? That I would pay to see. :D
That would be “over TO the editorial and administrative offices”...egads, they’re finally rubbing off on me.
I certainly stopped reading precisely at that point.
Let them spew their posionous words. What this Opinion Editor does not realize is:
The more the Catholic Church is persecuted, the more it will attract members.
The Catholic Church is the ONE and ONLY church that has stood solidly against abortion, contraception, stem-cell research, euthanasia, homosexuality, etc. etc.
And for the celibacy and holiness of priests.
The general public on the left cannot handle this — hence the venom.
‘The head of the viper is crushed with my heel.” (paraphrasing)
Sister Katherine Marie was no sweetheart either. Built like a linebacker, spit when she yelled at you one inch from your face - and you dared not wipe it off while she was standing there - and was convinced you would understand the math problem better when your face was crammed into the blackboard with her hand at the back of your neck.
Not too many great memories of Catholic school. I don’t however think comparing the Church to terrorists and saying they must be “stopped” is a sensible or fair way to discuss a problem some may have with them. That’s just sensationalism and trying a bit too hard to get in the news, in my opinion.
I am not Catholic but dim-wit bigots rile me, so you can count on my support.
This ignorant little caveman was probably thinking “Terrorists: bad, so I can just call anyone I don’t like a terrorist and I am a journalistic genius.”
He needs to have his ears pinned back. I will be writing to the paper. I know President Jeffcoat personally and I will mention it to him as well.
lol
THANK YOU! :)
I don’t know why you bothered to post this. If you lurk, as you say, you surely must realize that there are plenty of FReepers who agree with the content of this article.
My suggestion to you: if you aren’t comfortable with that general attitude, find a different school.
