I’ve been doing battle all day with the apologists. They stooped so low that they actually resorted to attacking my military service.
I was informed that it was not pedophiles that raped children but homosexual priests that had sex with teenagers which makes it not as bad.

You need to get your facts straight, I didn’t attack your military service, I simply asked what you did in the military.

If that hurt feelings...you did the country a good service by getting out because you are too thin skinned.
1) The civil authorities were informed of the matter 1974 and declined to prosecute.
2) Nevertheless, Fr. Murphy was removed from his position and was administratively placed on an official sick leave in 1974, at which time he moved to Wisconsin to live with his mother and from which time he had no official assignment until his death in 1998.
3) A canonical trial was initiated against him in 1996 which was still ongoing at the time of his death.
4) But letter was sent in 1995 to the Secretary of State, who has no jurisdiction in the matter. This is somehow to show that there was an international conspiracy to protect and coverup the crimes of an abusing priest, the allegations of which were already known to the civil authorities.
The coverup is where exactly?
I was just over there and I read it as an insult.
Asking someone what they do in the military would sound something like this: "What do you do in the military?"

Whether the young man wrote to the Vatican is beside the point. The matter SHOULD have been taken care of by the local Bishop. Unfortunately, for the young man, the Bishop was Weakland, who did little in the matter. By the time the Vatican got involved, the abusive priest was dying.
That is the problem, you think.
