It is not our job to prove that what Mr. Robertson said is NOT true.

He is the one making an outrageous and heretofore unreported claim. It is HIS job, and/or the job of those who support him, to prove that his claim IS true.

Maybe so, but can anyone identify what it is about Haiti that keeps it a perpetual mess in almost every sense of the word while the OTHER COUNTRY on the SAME ISLAND (Dominican Republic), while not exactly heaven on earth, is far less of a mess? There’s gotta be SOMETHING. Did DR get all the natural resources? All the smart people? All the GOOD people? Or is it something about the culture?

Actually, I just googled it, and there is a widely circulated story about just such a pact having been made by the slaves who revolted against the French. Apparently, the story circulates inside and outside Haiti.

No info on whether it’s true, or just a folk tale.

In any event, it probably wasn’t smart of Robertson to mention it, even if it is true.

Big Deal. Pat worships the God of the Old Testament. So do many. That is not a defect.

Robertson’s beliefs are probably closer to the beliefs of the voodoo and Africanist/animist religionists in Haiti than his critics will stop to think about. I don’t remember a huge uproar when people in Haiti and elsewhere prayed (and/or cast magic spells) to be spared by a hurricane
