In a letter dated September 29, 2008, Chad Hardy, producer of the infamous Men on a Mission Calendars and website, received a letter from Brigham Young University informing him that his name had been removed from the August 15, 2008 graduation roll. The letter stated that he would not be awarded his BA degree in Communication Studies because he had been excommunicated from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on July 13, 2008, a month before graduation.
All of his required coursework had already been completed prior to the church discipline. He was not required to abide by the schools strict Honor Code because he finished his coursework online from his home in Las Vegas, NM. The only recourse given to him to get his diploma was to come back to full fellowship with the LDS Church.
Brigham Young University failed to follow their own policies and procedures in disciplining Hardy and revoking his degree. Two weeks later, Hardy was denied and exception from BYU policy and will not be awarded his degree.
This series of videos is the actual recording from the official University Review with BYU Dean of Students, Vernon Heperi.
It pains my spirit for the loss of eternity for some.
Well you can take that view which was not mine view at all when he choose to join another faith I respected that and would not badger him for his choice as some here seem to endlessly want to do the LDS.
I beleive in free will
I know if I had reminded Angel of that knowledge he would have been please and gave him peace of mind, because he did love the Church he told me but to keep peace in family he gave into their pressure especially his sister who was Penticostal.
He did keep the Book of Mormon and the Bible I gave him.
Oh, does that include the 60,000+ missionaries per year plus all the couple missions?
Then WHY are you a MORMON?
The ORGANIZATION® certainly does NOT believe in it!
(Remember what this thread is all about!!)
There is a difference between “not telling all the facts” (Paul) and TELLING CONTRADICTORY FACTS (Joseph Smith).
Smiths versions of the First Vision are contradictory, Paul’s, while told to different audiences, are not.
It is more than having power over another life, it is a staggering misunderstanding and deliberate attempt to justify total lack of understanding of the Glory of God and of Biblical truth and history.
It pains my spirit for the loss of eternity for some.
I agree completely and feel the same. That is EXACTLY what the Mormons do.
I think you are starting to see the light.
That is the answer I would come to expect from a “malcontent”...
LOL...
I can show you ONE contradiction in Brother's first hand accounts, can you find IT?
You see, the authors want you to think that not giving all the facts in all accounts is contradiction, and by their standard, BY THEIR STANDARD, applied to Paul, they are saying that Paul was a false Apostle
reaganaut just take a moment and appreciate the form of the response and how cleanly it cuts around your point whilst returning seamlessly to his own all the while making it look like a direct response and without needing to provide his own supporting information.
To all of those except the ones paying close attention it almost appears perfect.
Art, a thing of beauty to behold, all in a single sentence.
In your days in the LDS I bet he would be considered a “Zen Master’ by some.
While I cannot agree with the faith of the LDS I do admire their ability of sculpting rhetoric on the fly.
It is indeed almost melodic.
Although what you say is true, it sentences some to eternity separated from the Glory of God.
Yes it is, and hear the tune...... Click Here
However in a strange way I think their incessant you of rhetorical tricks and word games has not served them well in the long run. At some point it gets so overused/miss used as to become blatantly obvious.
Indeed that is what caught my attention some months ago during the primary.
That is “use” not “you”
Of course, you would side even with a gay rights activist if he was opposing Mormons. "I have personal experience with the way mormons run things. Frankly, I would side with anyone who stands up to the dictatorial, tyrannical corporation and its minions." 71 posted on Saturday, March 07, 2009 5:09:49 PM by greyfoxx39 (buckle in for 4 more years of detached, grandstanding flourish left untethered by an incurious media)
For example post 68 where delacoert also takes the gay activist version of events Comparing and contrasting the Church lawyers version of events as a tall tale with Hardy's version as "pretty convincing".
>>>"Pretty tall tale. I have heard tell that Smithian's have a fine tradition of tale telling. I notice that Mr. Hardy's lawyers are quite willing and able to construct a time-line, provide background documentation, and explain their client's side of the story in a pretty convincing manner. Maybe your tale will help clarify things. 68 posted on Saturday, March 07, 2009 4:58:21 PM by delacoert
Many of the other posts are not as blatant or more "subtle" in carrying the water for gay activist Chad Hardy here on FR but a basic reading of the posts makes it abundantly clear.
For example, Post 17 correctly points out Hardy's anti-Prop 8 agenda with his own quotes. Post 41 Elsie seeks to downplay and minimize Hardy's involvedment with the gay community. Post 62 greyfoxx shows Hardy's version of events (which is fine in an informational/debate discussion format.) but then goes as in post 71 to advocate for Hardy. The poster ejonsie goes on to try to play defense for Hardy's position as well in post 65,66,67. A basic rreading of the thread shows some posters have crossed the line from open debate on Hardy's case into carrying water for his agenda. Not all are as blatant as post 71 where the poster openly admits they will side with the gay activists but many are doing so on this thread.
And so it goes for 300+ posts. I know you have better things to do than to respond to me. But at some point one has to ask the question why is a gay activists version of events and posters who make arguments for him allowed to stand on FR?
Create a: staggering misunderstanding and deliberate attempt to justify total lack of understanding of the Glory of God and of Biblical truth and history
Is that what you are trying to say?
I'm sure you haven't time to go through 300 posts, but if you do, you will find that:
No. 1 There is no evidence shown that Hardy is gay.
No. 2 The calendar showed men bare to the waist.
No. 3 The facts surrounding the withholding of Hardy's diploma after he was allowed to walk at graduation, and had not been a student at BYU for 6+ years except through online courses smack of retaliation.
The LDS church wasn't satisfied to just excommunicate him, but IMO chose to extract vengeance as a means to deliver a message to others who might be tempted to flout the school, and by extension the LDS church.
Last but not least, most of us have moved on to other matters. There are several other mormon threads ongoing.
That is EXACTLY what the Mormons do.
Create a: staggering misunderstanding and deliberate attempt to justify total lack of understanding of the Glory of God and of Biblical truth and history
Is that what you are trying to say?-
Yes.
Bravo...
Are you referring to lady lawyer when you say "Church lawyers [sic] version"?
Do you really know if lady lawyer is retained as a legal council for LDS and/or BYU in a matter regarding Chad Ryan?
Are you saying that you know that lady lawyer is a member of bar?
Are you saying that lady lawyer has offered legal opinions on this or any other case?
