MCKINNEY, TX, May 13, 2008 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Texas residents are alarmed that Bishop Kevin Farrell has appointed Fr. Arthur Mallinson, a priest associated with a prominent website for actively homosexual priests and religious, pastor of the newly renovated St. Michael's parish in McKinney, Texas.
Fr. Arthur Mallinson's picture has appeared on the St. Sebastian's Angels (SSA) website, a now defunct online network for actively homosexual priests and religious that featured pornographic images, sexually explicit comments, and derogatory remarks about Vatican churchmen, particularly against then-Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger.
In 1999, the reform organization Roman Catholic Faithful (RCF) exposed SSA and the fifty-three priests involved in the site. South American Bishop Reginald Cawcutt resigned after his activity on the site was revealed.
Barbara Kralis, concerned ex-parishioner of St. Michael, encouraged readers to take action in a Sunday column for CatholicCitizens.org.
"He is a priest who put his photo on a gay priest's website so that he could make contact with other like-minded priests," Kralis wrote of Fr. Mallinson.
"If anyone on this email list has family who are in this diocese of Dallas, who are worried about them being exposed to the machinations of such a perverted priest, please consider writing a letter Dallas Bishop Kevin Farrell and express your concern regarding this priest"
When she spoke with LifeSiteNews.com, Kralis had a series of questions.
"Why would our bishop promote a priest like this, what good is this going to do the people? Why wouldn't he [Bishop Farrell] read all of the priests' files very carefully? Why would he [Fr. Mallinson] be moved to a big, glorious parish?"
A spokeswoman for Bishop Farrell told LifeSiteNews.com that Fr. Mallinson is not supportive of any of the crude images or words found on the SSA site.
She noted that the SSA site was initially "not a site meant to provide an arena to find sexual partners." Instead, it was meant to give participants "prayer and spiritual support to maintain and live a celibate lifestyle."
According to the Bishop's spokeswoman, Fr. Mallinson ceased activity with SSA in 2001 when it became involved in immoral activity.
"When it strayed from its original mission, he no longer wanted to be involved. He did not agree or condone comments about the Pope on the website. He ceased participation when pornography went on the website"
Stephen Brady, founder of RCF, told LifeSiteNews.com that his group first exposed SSA's lewd activities in September 1999, more than a year before Fr. Mallinson's departure from the group.
"We never caught him sending pornography," Brady said of Fr. Mallinson. Nonetheless, Brady expressed concern that a priest would seek help to live celibacy from a pornographic site recounting male homosexual exploits.
"If he has to run to a website-that speaks volumes for flaws in his diocese."
To politely express concerns:
Bishop Kevin Farrell Bishop of Diocese of Dallas PO Box 190507 Dallas, TX 75219 214-528-2240
I can't imagine how this will end well.
If it were my parish, I’d want to know first if their defense is true.
Fr. Arthur Mallinson announced his resignation as pastor of St. Michael the Archangel parish in McKinney Texas Tuesday evening.
While we should all be grateful that this kind of priest was not forced on an innocent parish as their pastor, we must also pray for Fr. Mallinson as well as for his bishop.

Now, that’s “ass” backwards...
“Fr. Arthur Mallinson announced his resignation”
That was fast.
Good.
FWIW -
“He told the diocese he had contributed to the site which included his photo when its purpose was to support gay priests in a celibate lifestyle but stopped in 2001 after others began posting pornographic material, Ms. Taylor said”
Thank God RCF is tracking these guys who would not have been ordained in the first place if the American bishops had listened to the Church instead of American psychiatrists who told them these guys could control themselves.
gee, I wonder.
Same reason we can't ferret out all the pedophile priests in the first place. The pedophiles have reached higher ranks in the RCC. Unless the church.... nevermind. I'm not even an active Catholic anymore. I'm a Christian looking for a home where I don't have to hold hands, sing all the time and find that my donations go to a anti-American charity once it goes overseas.
That rules out Methodists.
If true, they should both be defrocked. (And why wasn't Mallinson defrocked already?)
Don’t ya hate it when they try to muddle the headlines by using the Protestant moniker ‘Pastor’ in stead of Catholic ‘priest’...
Pastor is the title for the priest who is appointed head of a parish. The piskies call it rector, as do the Catholics, I think, in England.
If you are close to Fort Worth, you might give some of Bishop Ilker's congregations a try. They are in the process of leaving the Episcopal church. Christ Church Anglican in Plano, if you live in that area. Park Cities Presbyterian in Dallas. Other parts of the state, freepmail me, and I'll see what I can dig up for you.
Protestant Denominations
I didn't really "run" away. I just drifted off. One of my aunts was a novitiate in Central America and was begging for money to eat and to help the "poor", while I saw the Catholic Church as having money to spend on expensive housing for some priests but not others. She also gave aid and told us about supporting the guerillas in El Salvador and Guatemala .... the same guerillas that my father was helping to kill as I was also.
saw some Catholics like the Kennedy's given "annulments" but my sister who's husband beat her and cheated on her not allowed to be annulled.... then after making a "donation" all of a sudden 'allowed" to have an annulment.....
So I became cynical and jaded and lost for 30 years or so. Till a friend took me to a Promise Keepers rally in Tampa Florida that changed my life and by the way he conducted himself after his son was badly injured showed me how Christ's love for us can be the only way that I have any possibility of redemption.
I am completely and utterly a failure at living the life of a Christian and in spite of my very lame and feeble efforts know that without God's unbound ability to forgive a sinner I am lost.
So I am not throwing stones at the Church in an effort to "put it down" but more out of frustration that the church seems to be worried more about "earthly" things than those of the spirit and that the anti-American bias, the infiltration by the Communists and gays, the proclamations on alien life and the environment take away from the only true message that the Church should be spreading.... all else is a distraction and doesn't bring ME closer to the path... if it is working for you, I'm very happy for you (not sarcastic or condescendingly) it just doesn't help me and speak to me. I get more out of reading CS Lewis and the Bible with an occasional visit to a local church than active participation in the Church.
I'm also not saying that the Methodist, Lutherans, Presbyterians or any other church is better or worse. The last church I went to in Florida, had a great minister but was let go. So far I'm drifting and just muddling through.
I think a lot of us are.
