Some ex-Catholics read my testimony and wrote to me, wanting to be sure that Jesus Christ is my Lord and my Savior. (He is.) An ex-nun befriended me. Two former priests gave me wise counsel. Other ex-Catholic friends have shared their hearts, their wisdom, and valuable information. I am deeply grateful for these people. May the Lord bless them for their kindness.

One Christmas, at Midnight Mass, the priest taught that the Christmas story as presented in the Bible is basically a pious fairy tale to make people feel good, but it has nothing to do with reality.

This garbage is being taught at seminaries (Protestant ones) too. A friend of mine attending talked to me about these professors and how outraged he was at their statements.

In my opinion, people who hold these views are not Christians but secular humanists playing priest/pastor and trying to indoctrinate the faithful against Christianity.

What a great and God-glorifying testimony, Gamecock!

"...made me more and more hungry for Scripture. I got to know people who were enthusiastic about God. I learned that Biblical principles really work, and that they make a significant practical difference in real life situations.

AMEN! As God wills.

As I learned more about the Bible, I began to realize that some Catholic teachings are contrary to Scripture. This was disturbing...

Amen!

Saving faith is demonstrated by loving and obeying God, and by doing good works. These are the results of salvation, not the cause of it.

AMEN!

I have a Biblical world view

By the grace of God alone.

[ex-nun's true story]

Since she never took her temporary let alone final vows she never became a nun so your comment is both wrong and inappropriate. I'll bet that that's a fact that Seinfeld has never covered. Too bad she bailed out so early in the process but the system worked as it is designed to.

However, when she left I wish she would have taken people like Chittister, Prejean, Gebara, Bujak, Dwyer, Kopin, Byrne, Ferder, Johnson, Kane, Coston, Hobday, Mananzan, Velasco, Schäfer, Gramick and a host of others with her.

I wonder which Protestant denomination she ended up in? I’m glad she and her parents didn’t stay in the UMC.

As she stated in this letter, she used the term "nun" in the broad sense of the term.

As far as you wishing she had taken others with her...why should that be her burden or duty?

If these whom you list are so bad, why wish them upon others? Out of bitterness towards her? Is that it?
For all we know, she may wish to avoid them or whatever their ideas are, as much as you seemingly do. If that were the case, then you and she would have things in common, other than joint recognition of the basic tenets of Christianity?

I’ve used that lady’s site for lots of research and, as usual, RCC watchdogs attack here as person instead of discussing the arguments. God is sovereign and chooses whom He will save - no matter what condition they be in. It’s His plan and His provision: let verse 13 resonate in your mind.

John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: 13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

Yeah, I was wondering where she found a "conservative" order in which novices don't take simple vows (though it's unclear that she knows the difference between postulants and novices) . . . oh, well, any stick is good enough . . .

RCC watchdogs attack here as person

That would never, ever happen in reverse, on a thread concerning Scott Hahn or Marcus Grodi.

RCC watchdogs attack here as person instead of discussing the arguments.

Same as it ever was. Not one word about what she's writing; only that she fled the RCC. When threads about Scott Hahn and his ilk are posted, as least the Bible-believers discuss the reasons Hahn is wrong, as illustrated from Scripture.

God is sovereign and chooses whom He will save - no matter what condition they be in. It’s His plan and His provision: let verse 13 resonate in your mind.

Well if it isn't the elusive Mary Ann Collins.

Some people are wondering if Mary Ann Collins as a person, even exists. Will the Real Mary Ann Collins Please Stand Up

Some interesting quotes from the above article;

"What is unusual is that Mary Ann Collins cannot be located other than on her web site. She states on her web site that her father and pastor cautioned her not to give any personal information. Collins obeyed them with such zeal that many Catholics and Protestants alike now question whether she exists at all or is actually a creation devised by a person or people to credibly spread disinformation about the Catholic Church. In this information age it is fascinating to find someone about which there is no concrete information. No one has admitted ever knowing or seeing her. No one knows where she lives or what she does for a living. She has never given an interview, including anything as innocuous as speaking at a local church to promote her discoveries or books".

"Collins' own biography contributes to her elusiveness. For example, since she attended a convent for over two years and was asked to leave, it is reasonable to think that someone could be found who remembers her and could identify its location. However, this has never happened. Perhaps if one could find the mysterious convent, then the question could be answered as to which of Collins’ different versions of her dismissal is accurate."

"The 2001 version says that her mother superior decided she should not take vows. Collins goes on to say that she felt God’s protection led to her leaving the convent as a regular health check up (not provided by the convent) discovered precancerous polyps in her colon. A few years later, a doctor found lumps in her breasts during a routine physical exam. Collins stated, "If I had stayed in the convent, I would have died of colon cancer and breast cancer." Her current biography has been edited to rephrase the reason she left. In this version, the mother superior’s questions about Collins' calling led to the final decision being made by both the mother superior and the convent leadership. Strikingly, the compelling testimony about this being proof of God’s protection has been removed. Additionally, the date at the top of the current version indicates it was written in 2002, when it is a revision of the 2001 version."

"There is nothing to say conclusively that Mary Ann Collins is either a real person or a pseudonym. If she is real, she is highly focused and does not deviate from her mission to distribute her writings on the internet. However, after reviewing the evidence, it seems more than likely that there is a "Mary Ann Collins Mission" with one or more people who write and manage contacts in her name, whether she’s a real person or not."

Now some nuns have unquestionably forsaken Catholicism for Protestantism as have numerous lay people. The internet carries many of their stories. Whether Mary Ann Collins is one of them, however, is still open to question, I believe.

The parenthetical statement in the title is false. This woman was never a nun, which would require final vows.
