LDS defend the faith as Christian
The Salt Lake Tribune ^ | 10/07/07 | By Peggy Fletcher Stack

Not only is Mormonism a Christian faith, it is the truest form of Christianity, said speaker after speaker on the first day of the 177th Semiannual LDS General Conference. LDS authorities were responding to the allegation that Mormonism isn't part of Christianity. Made by different mainline Protestant and Catholic churches and repeated constantly during coverage of Mitt Romney's presidential campaign, the claim is based on Mormonism's beliefs about God, its rejection of ancient ideas about the Trinity still widely accepted, and the LDS Church's extra-biblical scriptures. "It is not our purpose to demean any person's belief nor the doctrine of any religion," said Apostle Jeffrey R. Holland in the afternoon session. "But if one says we are not Christians because we do not hold a fourth- or fifth-century view of the Godhead, then what of those first [Christians], many of whom were eye-witnesses of the living Christ, who did not hold such a view either?"

{snip}

The day's sermons included many familiar themes, including the importance of faith, the need for pure thoughts and actions, avoiding pornography reaching out to neighbors and eliminating spiritual procrastination. Hinckley talked about the destructive nature of anger in marriages, on the road, and in life, urging Mormons to "control your tempers, to put a smile upon your faces, which will erase anger; speak with words of love and peace, appreciation and respect."

Well, I think they have every right to call themselves Christian despite their unorthodoxy on the Trinity.

This is America, by Buddhist roommate back in college had the right to call himself a Christian it does not, however, make it true.

No, I lost you when you claim to know so much about the Church and you could not identify who said what. You really don’t know anything about us other than what some anti preacher has filled your head with.

In other words: you failed the basic credibility test for critics of the Church.

Yes, we do all of that but you seem unable to find anything to critique other than something someone else has told you. I teach only sound doctrine.

Don’t know why you pinged me, but according to Mormonism, it was Satan that said he would mingle scripture with the philosophies of men.

It was copied from the Bible. There is no “new restored” information in THAT quote.

OMM, what gives?

Well, since we use the same Bible as you, the only difference must be that little matter of greek philosophy that is NOT in the bible that you call the trinity or triune.

The Scripture teaches that the Father is Eternally Divine and is Eternally Spirit and not a god who was once a man as Mormonism teaches, the Son(Jesus) is Eternally Divine Spirit who took on the additional nature of humanity in the Incarnation and did not become a god as Mormonism falsely teaches, and the Holy Spirit is Divine Spirit, yet the Scripture clearly teaches that there is a subject-object distinction between the Three Persons of the Godhead, each being a distinct persona, yet Co-Equally Divine in all aspects.

Therefore, your charge of the Triunity of the Divine Essence of God is not any greek concept at all.

Other than that non biblical belief of yours, it is the very same Jesus.

Quite the contrary, Mormonism's jesus was a created spirit being who was the spirit brother of Lucifer, who was created by the Mormon false god through having celestial sex with one of his celestial wives. That is NOT the Jesus of the Bible and Christian faith, but is a false jesus who was the fictional creation of the twisted imagination of Joseph Smith and does not exist.

And some of the “Mormon” hating people have said that there other Churches that are wrong.

Ut oh, playing the victim card now are you?

There are no "Mormon haters" here. We challenge the false doctrines of Mormonism, and confront Mormons with the truth verses the false doctrines of your religion, so please refrain from playing the victim card, when those challenges and confrontations are perfectly allowable in a debating forum and in the marketplace of ideas. It really makes Mormons look petty when playing the victim card.

They have also said that I should leave the LDS church.

They are right. You SHOULD leave the false religion of Mormonism, for the false jesus of Mormonism cannot save you. Only the True Christ of the Bible and the historic Christian faith can.

Lots of so-called Christians don’t get who said it. They think it’s something one of them came up with.

LOL

Have a fun evening!

Have you ever wondered how much of Brigham Youngs philosophy or Joe Smith’s got mingled up in scripture? Have you read the Doctrine and Covenants?

The first time I read it as a teenager, I went to my Bishop and said, “It sounds like Joseph Smith was trying to convince a lot of people to do the things he wanted them to do....like practice polygamy, go on a mission, accept polygamy, etc. etc. etc.

It seems your own prophet fits the bill....mingling the truth with his own philosophy. I’m sure you have a different “take” on it.

It is my belief that being a prophet of God is the hardest job any human being can have. I also believe that they are all human beings.

We may feel free to disagree about doctrine, but in the end, I do not believe that the Lord allows a false prophet to lead His Church. I do not believe false doctrine could call so many to serve each other as well as the world in general, as you can see.

One of the things that first attracted me to the Church was the opportunity to be of service. Do you remember the floods in South Georgia in 1994? I do. Albany, Georgia was a real mess.The first Saturday after the floods, there were about 13,000 volunteers down there cleaning up, distributing supplies, etc. Fully 6,000 of them were Mormons. In the Georgia Bible Belt, with baptists thick as fleas, almost half the help came from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. That is not something that can be inspired by Satan.

No, I meant all of the New Testament. I am not trying to shove our sacred standard works down your throat, just asking about your complete acceptance of the Holy Bible. Don’t read in something that isn’t there.

LOL..!!

Well I feel lucky...cause you apparently aren't the norm when it comes to mormon's.

You didn't say the NT..nor did you say the bible. You said, and I quote: "So, when are you going to accept all of the Word?"...

Of course I figured you were a standard mormon steeped, trained, learned, brainwashed in deception..and trickery. Trying to get me to say yea....And then lower the proverbial boom on me...knowing that "The B of M"...is part of the "Word" according to you and yours....

"Sacred Standard Works"...now thats something I'd not swallow voluntarily.

I am not saying you should, necessarily. I am not saying that you will go to Hell (whatever that is) if you don’t follow the complete Gospel as I understand it.

My question is strictly about the Gospel of the N.T., since there seems to be a great many folks out there attacking us that when confronted about some of the Gospel of the New Testament go absolutely bonkers and dodge the question.

Let’s put it this way: When the Lord left us “this new commandment” to “love one another”, do you tend to agree that “love” is used in the scripture as a verb and Jesus did not couch it in terms of a suggestion?

now will you answer the REAL QUESTION, “Will you help us to not join another wrong church?”

That’s what we’ve been doing all along, but you seem to take offense at our help

+++++++++++++++++++++=

For some reason I have not seen any of your replies that are leading toward something. I must be in the slow group, please say it in small words. Which of the religious groups should I go toward?

One or two?
(referring to the picture of the conjoined twins.)

++++++++++++++++++++

Two upper, one lower.

And there is no way then can be in two places at the same time,like the Father And the Son did and can do.
