I have a strong objection to the Feast of the Divine Mercy's replacement of Low Sunday on the Roman Calendar because it disrupts the paschal season.
The Paschal Season is a season of joy and commemoration of Christ's victory over death. It's not a time for the penitential self-flagellation of the Divine Mercy chaplet.
If it belongs anywhere on the Roman Calendar, its during Lent, not Pascha.
That's not to mention that all of the Popes between Pius XI and Paul VI suppressed the Divine Mercy cult as spurious.
I pray that some future pope will have the foresight to suppress it. I am glad that Byzantine Catholics do not celebrate it publicly.

What is the main theme of this Sunday's readings?
"Receive the Holy Spirit, whose sins you shall forgive they are forgiven them, and whose sins you shall retain are retained."
Don't you see the pattern? It's about the most joyous gift of Christ's death on the Cross -- His gift of forgiveness.
It's a penitential devotion that disrupts the celebration of the Risen Christ, not Christ crucified.
It belongs maybe in Lent or some other Sunday, not during the Paschal season.
You expired, Jesus, but the source of life gushed forth for souls and the ocean of mercy opened up for the whole world. O Fountain of Life, unfathomable Divine Mercy, envelop the whole world and empty Yourself out upon us.
O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fountain of mercy for us, I trust in You.
Jesus, I trust in You.

Divine Mercy Sunday
Jesus to Sr. Faustina
On one occasion, I heard these words: My daughter, tell the whole world about My inconceivable mercy. I desire that the Feast of Mercy be a refuge and shelter for all souls, and especially for poor sinners. On that day the very depths of My tender mercy are open. I pour out a whole ocean of graces upon those souls who approach the fount of My mercy. The soul that will go to Confession and receive Holy Communion shall obtain complete forgiveness of sins and punishment. On that day all the divine floodgates through which grace flow are opened. Let no soul fear to draw near to Me, even though its sins be as scarlet. My mercy is so great that no mind, be it of man or of angel, will be able to fathom it throughout all eternity. Everything that exists has come forth from the very depths of My most tender mercy. Every soul in its relation to Me will contemplate My love and mercy throughout eternity. The Feast of Mercy emerged from My very depths of tenderness. It is My desire that it be solemnly celebrated on the first Sunday after Easter. Mankind will not have peace until it turns to the Fount of My Mercy.
[Let] the greatest sinners place their trust in My mercy. They have the right before others to trust in the abyss of My mercy. My daughter, write about My mercy towards tormented souls. Souls that make an appeal to My mercy delight Me. To such souls I grant even more graces than they ask. Christ's mercy comes after His wounds -- therefore after Easter and the Resurrection.
Aquestion for you --
"When we see Christ in heaven, will He still have His wounds?"
I think so, because even in His changed appearance He showed His wounds to the apostles! Hopefully we will all see them too!
"For the sake of his sorrowful passion, have mercy on us" is hardly fitting for the paschal season.
Compared with the resurrection hymns of the Byzantine rite:
"Christ is risen from the dead, by death trampling death, and to those in the graves granting life."
"By death, by death you conquered death."
We aren't supposed to be commemorating Christ's wounds during Pascha, but rather, his victory over death.
I also have a serious problem with basing a feast of the church, even if it is only a feast of the Latin Church, on a private "revelation."
I personally do not believe Faustina's "revelation" was anything of the kind.
The Feast of Mercy (Divine Mercy Sunday)
Jesus said to St. Faustina:
I desire that there be a Feast of Mercy. I want this image, which you will paint with a brush, to be
solemnly blessed on the first Sunday after Easter; that Sunday is to be the Feast of Mercy. (Diary, 49)
I desire that this image be displayed in public on the first Sunday after Easter. That Sunday is the
Feast of Mercy. Through the Word Incarnate I make known the bottomless depth of My mercy. (Diary, 88)
I desire that the first Sunday after Easter be the Feast of Mercy. (Diary, 299)
And who knows anything about this feast? No one! Even those who should be proclaiming My mercy and
teaching people about it often do not know about it themselves. That is why I want the image to be

Yes, The first Sunday after Easter is the Feast of Mercy, but there must also be acts of mercy, and I demand the worship of My mercy through the solemn celebration of the Feast and through the veneration of the image which is painted. I desire that the first Sunday after Easter be the Feast of Mercy (Diary 299) - the Lord Jesus said to Sr. Faustina. In the following years, Jesus returned to this demand in as many as 14 different apparitions, establishing very clearly the location of this Feast in the Church's liturgical calendar, and defining the reason and objective of its institution, the manner in which preparations for it and the celebration itself were to be conducted.

If you ask me, private revelation is the work of demons or at least the work of Sr. Faustina's imagination. I don't believe it's from Christ. Explain to me why Sr. Faustina's diary was suppressed by every pope prior to JP2.
Her diary even was placed on the Index of Prohibited Books.
All revelation ended with the death of the last apostle.
I stand my ground, the Divine Mercy has no place on the Church calendar during Pascha.
At least it's not Divine Mercy Sunday on the Byzantine Calendar. We at least still celebrate Thomas Sunday.
So can we agree to disagree?
BTW, Christ is celebrating his wounds by showing them to the apostles and a week later to Thomas.
A local devotion under the title of "Divine Mercy" was approved by the Ordinary of Vilnius in 1936 and from there spread rapidly, especially after World War II in the United States. It appears that Sr. Faustina could not write, save a few lines phonetically. Most of her "diary" was concocted by her sisters after her death. Because of the incongruities of the dairy (different handwriting, different use of terms), the devotion was suppressed, and the book of her diary was placed on the Index Librorum Prohibitorum [Index of Forbidden Books]. This decision was upheld by Pope John XXIII in 1958/59. In early 1978, a Polish cardinal petitioned the Vatican to remove the suppression of the devotion, which was being practiced without sanction in his diocese, and the Vatican replied in the negative, confirming the suppression.
So when was it approved?
It was approved by JP2 shortly after he became pope. From what I had read, he had been trying to get his predecessors to approve it for years prior to acceding to the papacy.
Considering that private revelations are non-binding. We can agree to disagree about its authenticity.
Byzantine Christianity is 100 percent opposed to "private revelations" of any kind. Actually, the Roman Church's acceptance of it is an ecumenical obstacle with the Orthodox.
