Here is a forwarded email from a Christian screenwriter in Hollywood. I recommend this strategy regarding the Da Vinci Code. Let's all do this! Of course, I believe we should do BOTH C & D, but I hope you get the point.

The fact that The DaVinci Code is pure fiction should give people a clue.

IT'S FICTION! And of no importance.

GOOD post.
It'll be a smash hit.
I do not go to movies and I'll not order this film when it gets to NetFlix.

Amongst the dumbest books I have ever read.
Just plain silly, anyone who doesn't understand it's bad fiction should go fall off the edge of the ocean........

It's a screwy book inspired by a screwy fictional book and I think ignoring it is the best plan. If people want want to believe tripe like this, that's their problem. I'll only have to put up with them for a relatively few moments compared with eternity.

I have heard the inspiration for the Da Vinci Code is the belief of the gnostics. Not sure what that is suppose to mean but something I heard in passing on Fox News.

A movie based on a book that wears its heresy and blasphemy as a badge of honor. What is the blasphemy or heresy in supposing that Jesus Christ was married? From the logical point of view, a hetero-sexual male in his late 20's and at that point in time was typically married. How does that impact his message to us? Consider this, Christ was a Jew; he was called 'Rabbi' and guess what? Rabbi's were REQUIRED to be married. Now whether he was or not, I do not know. But it isn't heresy to ponder this question.

Look at the Born in '05 Boo-Bird Swarm. It means you're on to something grand.
DVC opening in second? Quelle dommage. The Merovingians will be spinning in their graves!

Why is this important, I'm a born again Christian. This book is fiction, if people want to read a fiction book than let them. I think both sides of this debate are overreacting a little.
The whackos who think it is history and not fiction are off the rocker, and the ones who want to burn it because they are afraid people think it's real are just plain overreacting.
Just my two cents though.

If enough people do it, the powers that be will notice. They won't have a choice. The powers that be took notice and didn't care about the success of the Passion of the Christ. Why would they care now whether people see their movies? As long as they themselves feel good that is all they care about.

I'm going with choice (A).

All the hubbub about the book and now the movie. I couldn't care less. If it effects someone's faith their "faith" wasn't that strong to begin with. People tend to believe what they want to believe, anyway.

It's a movie of a novel. It's entertainment. I don't see why it bothers you and if you try to "deal with it" you only call more attention to it. All I will say about that now is remember "The Life of Brian."

The book has been on the best seller list for years in hardcover.
It is unlikely that whatever impact it has had is likely to be reflected in poor attendance for the upcoming film.
I was given the book as a present something like 3 Christmases ago. I thought it was stupid and likely just a passing phenomenon. Years later I am still astonished at it's popularity.
The movie will do well, and I'll never understand exactly why.
