Oscars ignore the Passion...

Personally, I think it needs to be looked at the other way around.
Let The Passion of The Christ snub the Oscars.
It will sound a louder message.

Look for a repeat of last night's People's Choice Awards. Mel Gibson has already won his 'reward' for
The Passion of the Christ, and it's not one he'll collect in Hollywood.
Catholic Ping - please freepmail me if you want on/off this list

I completely agree- since when do we judge ourselves by what Hollyweird thinks? Anyway- people only watch award shoes to see who has gotten plastic surgery.

Please. As the "People's Choice Awards" last night confirmed, these are as close to reality as a Kerry win.

It shows the incompetence of the DU. They can stuff the ballot box for the "pipeels" choice award on the Internet, but can't prevent the Passion from winning the Drama award.
I give it a big yawn. I usually don't comment because it is not important to me. The Oscars, the Globes, the Grammy and the Gimmie Awards are just a self congratulation society, the people giving themselves awards with no rhyme or reason except how they are going to manipulate tomorrows pop-culture.
Mel is right, he already has been vindicated at the box office, thats the only "golden" award that matters, and Mr. Gibson will make good use of some of his money to make more great movies. I am sure he won't be using it to forge golden calves.

You're right. How do I change the title of this thread?

It's a glorified award ceremony / trade show. Every trade show I've been to is pretty boring and this is no different.
Don't think I've watched one since "Platoon" won best picture.

Yah. It was a rhetorical statement, though in truth in the 40-plus years since my family first acquired a teeeveee set I have never watched it. Or the Grammies. I think there may be one or two other such, but can't recall what they are. They're just so irrelevant. (There's another remark I'd like to make about doing certain things in public, but it's rude.)

Hey Mel did a great, and guttsy job at accepting the People's Choice award, among all those stars who DID not support him or the film "The Passion of the Christ".
I for one am glad he won, And wish him and his, all the best.
Way to go Mel !!!!!!

To actually protest the Oscars over 'The Passion of The Christ', would be to acknowledge that the 'academy' actually matters.
And they don't, obviously.
Why? Because Hollyweird wouldn't back Gibson, wouldn't distribute his movie...and didn't want it to succeed. It did, without their help. An Oscar nod means nothing from an organisation of hedonists.

Why would a luciferian cult give an award to a christian themed movie, or are you just a glutton for condemnation?
