For those in need of special graces, one secure way to obtain them is the Miraculous Medal. As the name implies, devotees experience nothing short of miracles when they have recourse to this great treasure of the Church. The America Needs Fatima campaign has just launched a nationwide drive called Miracles for America to get free Miraculous Medals and novena cards in hands of tens of thousands of Americans. Campaign director Robert E. Ritchie hopes to distribute 200,000 blessed medals soon.
The medal originated in 1830 when Our Lady appeared to Saint Catherine Laboure. This devout religious was entrusted with the mission to coin and spread the Miraculous Medal. Our Lady told her: All those who carry this medal will receive great graces, especially by wearing it on a neck chain. Graces will flow even more abundantly to those who carry it with confidence.
If graces are given to people who wear the medal, even more abundant graces are reserved for those who help spread it! says Mr. Ritchie. That is why Miracles for America is so very urgent and can do so much good to countless souls.
Devotion to the Miraculous Medal takes on greater importance in the struggle to oppose todays shocking moral decadence. During the second apparition to Saint Catherine, Our Blessed Mother explained how pleased she is when people pray to her and how generous she is with them, how she gives special graces to those who ask, and what a great joy she takes in granting them.
Countless conversions and cures have been obtained by using the medal with confidence. Miracles for America hopes to get the medals to families especially families with children and young adults that suffer the brutal attacks and temptations of todays anti-Fatima culture.

St. Catherine Laboure prya for us!
Thanks for posting this. Very interestingly, when I got home from work yesterday, I found in the mail that I had been sent me a Miraculous Medal (unsolicited and unrequested by me). I figured there was a reason why I received it, so I put it on last night and am continuing to wear it.
"I put it on last night and am continuing to wear it."
It shows!
As the Irish used to say:
May your blessings outnumber the shamrocks that grow and may Our Lady be with you wherever you go.
I have one and the members of my family. I will be passing out 15 Blessed Miraculous Medals next week to my 9th grade CCD class and enrolling them.
:) Thanks so much! I'm sure my wonderful Irish dreadnought pastor knows that blessing very well! So...I wish the same blessing back to you, and add one I learned from Jewish friends a long time ago: may you live to 100 and look like 20!
Positive article bump!
As a member of the Militia Immaculata, I am encouraged to give out Miraculous Medals. The MI's founder, St. Maximilian Kolbe, described the Medal as a "spiritual bullet" against the enemies of man's salvation. When I first started doing this, I found it hard to do (I was with an MI group who handed a bunch out at the March for Life, and when I was asked to give one to an Orthodox bishop, I was reluctant to). But it gets easier. When I was in Walsingham, England on the Feast of Our Lady's Nativity, I saw a girl, about 12 or 13, dressed in clothing that exposed her mid-riff. I was saddened to see her dressed that way at a Catholic shrine. I had some Miraculous Medals in my bookbag, so I walked up to her and gave her 5, one for each of her family members and asked her to give the Medals to them.
I had always known about the MM before, but never wore it until this past February. I went to pick up my wife from her retreat, and there was a nun there handing them out. She was so nice and seemed so much to want me to take the medal & wear it that I obliged. It's been on my scapular ever since.
Wow! I was just at that website. I heard about them from another FReeper. They seem like great Medals, and they're 3rd degree relics too!!
I have them for every member of my family (and keep a few on hand for Special giving)
I've worn a brass one with my crucifix for a few years...it takes on a nice patina over time....
My hubby and the kids have silver ones.
They have a nice weight to them and I love that they're 3rd class relics also.
Legion of Mary groups have given out hundreds of Miraculous Medals over the years. We think of them as Mary's Silver Bullet. She paves the way and opens hearts.
I just tried ordering one with a stainless steel chain, but their website seems to be malfunctioning.
Someone gave me an antique silver ring with a Miraculous Medal on it and I've been wearing it for many years. I have truly felt protected and blessed by wearing it. I gave a gold medal to my husband, who has prostate cancer.
FYI, there is a great on-line Rosary shop where you can buy pre-made rosaries, custom desing your own for them to build, or buy kits to make them yourself. It is called The Rosary Shop and the url is: http://www.rosaryshop.com/
I've ordered several from them for myself or as gifts for friends. My experience is that they usually deliver earlier than they say, their work is very high quality, and the materials, whether wood, semi-precious stones (their leopard jaspar is my favorite, it is very nice), precious stones, or whatever, is excellent. There is a huge variety of bead types, centers, crucifixes to choose from. They also have a preview feature to give you an idea of what it will look like before you click to purchase.
Thought I'd pass this on. Please let other Catholic FReepers know about this fine place to buy Rosaries.
