The Neverending Story
An ongoing debate on Scripture, Tradition, History and Interpretation.

Statesmen may plan and speculate for liberty, but it is religion and morality alone which can establish the principles upon which freedom can securely stand. The only foundation of a free constitution is pure virtue. - John Adams

So how's the weather in Florida? What are yall doing for the holidays?

It was sunny and in the 70's today. A very beautiful day.

We will be celebrating Easter at our home church and then have a ham dinner with my in-laws, who are really a couple of wonderful people.

I pray you have a good Easter. Will the little guys be around?

"Simple mind" Cindy, as you refer to her, was quoting me, not Kevin, though she didn't bother to post the response to me, thus your confusion. (I'm not pinging her since that appears to be her preference.)

My statements were made regarding how we might know other people's salvation.

Since only God knows the heart of each individual, I don't think we can be 100% certain about anyone's salvation but our own. Do you?

Forty-eight years ago?

A google search showed a dual bias -- either he abducted a 16-year-old girl after she had a dispute with her RC parents (on Republican sites) or he rescued a 16-year-old girl after such a dispute (Unionist sites).

If they want to defame you, they'll always find something.

"Yeah I hear you but I also can't see why the God I worship would destine someone to hell at creation. It doesn't fit His pattern."

Nonsense. None of us deserves anything. We all belong in Hell to begin with and it fits in nicely with God's righteousness and holiness.

If you follow your statement to the logical conclusion why would God have a Hell at all?

God is more then a God of love. If you don't think so please explain the plagues and wars He will set loose on the earth at the end times?

God is also a God of Justice.

At the end of it all ... if you still have sins to pay for ... you will pay for them.

I think that Cindy's struggling with the idea of a God Who builds an ark to save some from destruction ... but Who, then, picks and chooses among those who present themselves to be saved, ... allowing some onto the ark, ... and others not.

I think that we all believe that the ark of salvation is available to ... "Whoseoever will ... .

These are those which Calvinists refer to as the 'elect'.

Those that are bound for destruction will not come to God to be saved.
Romans 10:13 For whoseover shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Nah, Cindy just struggling with getting banned or waiting out the storm. Sometimes you just have to do what you have to do and take the consequences don't you? If I go down I won't be going by myself though .
Anyway God tells us why there was a flood. Just because I ignore a post doesn't mean it confused me lol. A better question to ask was why was all of Noahs sons and wives allowed on the boat. If you buy into this theory then why didn't God just pick and choose?

It is interesting that some will value free will on the same level, perhaps even higher, as God's sovereignty or the gift of salvation.

"I don't want salvation if I don't have a say in it!"

They seem to want it all.....

If you "present yourself to be saved" than you are one of the Elect chosen by God before the foundation of the world.

His purpose and grace was established in us before the world began. His Omniscience, Omnipotence, and the act of Creation argue for nothing less.

He tells us that whosoever comes to Him He will "in no wise cast out." I believe that with all my heart. All those who do come are of the Elect and they come because they have been sought out by God and were lovingly drawn by Him (Lk 15:3-6; Jn 6:44). No one who comes to Christ comes by a different way.

Those who do not come to Christ are not of the Elect. They have been left by God to collect the wages they have rightly earned. Don't mistake me, the Elect had also earned the same wages but God in His Grace saved us from what was rightfully our due.

In what way? He once destroyed the world with water, He once destroyed cities with fire. God is justice, and justice demands judgment

In all those examples He supplied a way of salvation for all men (i.e. Leave the city and dont turn back, get into the ark).

I am saying God has shown His Grace by giving us His Son. He has supplied a way of Salvation. God's Grace is not in giving some the eyes to see, but in providing all of us a Way to see if we only call upon His name. In the Gospels you see blind men asking Jesus for healing, for sight. Jesus does not give them sight without these men first crying out to Him.

No I understand you don't tell people your of the tulip, if you did they would run you off their door steps just like they do the jehovah witness.

He also thinks you're being underhanded if you refuse announce yourself first. There's always the danger that you might say something BigMack would otherwise agree with, if he didn't know you were a Calvinist first.
