The Neverending Story
An ongoing debate on Scripture, Tradition, History and Interpretation.

Statesmen may plan and speculate for liberty, but it is religion and morality alone which can establish the principles upon which freedom can securely stand. The only foundation of a free constitution is pure virtue. - John Adams

If God wants someone, what could possibly be strong enough to keep that person from God's grasp?

If only God had wanted Israel...

Christ's death was enough to pay for everyone's sin, but it is only effective for those who believe.

Do you think 99% of Arminians would argue with this? I would say no.

It was offered in good faith, Mack. I read your posts.

Have a wonderful Easter.

How frustrated God must be. He wants everyone saved, but some still slip through His fingers.

And how powerful man must be to thwart the Creator of heaven and earth.

"Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth." - Romans 9:18.

I guess maybe He does gets His way sometimes, eh?

"What then? Israel hath not obtained that which he seeketh for; but the election hath obtained it, and the rest were blinded." -- Romans 11:7

Israel, like the rest of us, accomplishes exactly what God sets out for us.

But there's hope for the Jew as well as the Gentile.

"Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever." -- 1 Peter 1:23

Wow! So 99% of Arminians believe in Limited Atonement?

One down, Kevin, four to go.

I'm sorry. I have less and less patience with posts that make God into a Hallmark greeting card.

Have a good Easter.

A little marital advise: The tree should come down only when your wife says it is time for it to come down:')

Now you see... That makes it sound like she's got all this Christmas spirit and I'm the one trying to take it all away.

In reality, she's got this "can't start a new year with an old tree" rule and I'd like to have it around until mid-late January - or say Epiphany. (I joke about it staying up till Easter, so your situation seemed like it might help).

Now shall we move on to the Real vs. Fake deabte? :)

Judas chose evil.

Everything about Jesus' sacrifice went according to God's plan.

Jesus was delivered up by the determinate counsel of God, and yet Peter still says His accusers are responsible for their actions, including Judas.

Quite a few believe in Eternal Security as well so I think it's two down and three to go. 40% is better than 0%. ;^)

You believe in the rapture?

Yes.....Pre-Trib even. ;^)

You believe it's near?

I believe it is imminent, in that it could happen at anytime, but I'm not sure how close it is.

I'm sorry. I have less and less patience with posts that make God into a Hallmark greeting card.

In that case, I'd avoid the Bible, if I were you.
Luke 4:18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.

Matthew 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
A few further questions for you ... some things for you to ponder, perhaps ...
How is it that man is made in the image of God ?

Was Jesus the incarnate image of God, ... come to reveal God to us, ... and to deliver God's truth to us ?

If so, ... what did Jesus reveal to us of God ... and what truths did He deliver to us ?
Happy Resurrection Remembrance to you, as well.

I don't. The only person I've hit abuse on was myself for double-posting and for posting something I was sorry about later.

Judas chose evil.

Everything about Jesus' sacrifice went according to God's plan.
Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain: - Acts 2:23
Jesus was delivered up by the determinate counsel of God, and yet Peter still says His accusers are responsible for their actions, including Judas.

I'd say that everything that made Judas Judas (up to that point in his life) ... mandated that he make the choice that he did.

Such a choice would have intrinsic to his nature.

If he had made any other choice, ... why then, ... he wouldn't have been Judas.

A related question ...

What, in your opinion, was the reason for God's fatherly dialogue with Cain while he was angry that God accepted his brother's sacrifice and not his ?
Genesis 4:2b And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.

3 And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD.

4 And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering:

5 But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.

6 And the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen?

7 If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted ? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.
