The Dixie Chicks say they don't want to be a country music band any more.
Violinist Martie Maguire told Spiegel magazine: "We don't feel part of the country scene any longer, it can't be our home any more."
She said she was disappointed other country singers didn't back up the Dixie Chicks in their criticism of George W Bush's politics on Iraq.
"A few weeks ago, Merle Haggard said a couple of nice words about us, but that was it," Maguire complained.
"The support we got came from others, like Bruce Springsteen."
Going home empty-handed from the Country Awards ceremony also made them decide to break with the scene, Maguire said.
"Instead, we won three Grammys against much stronger competition.
"So we now consider ourselves part of the big Rock 'n' Roll family."

Sheesh, another music hero is off my list. He is defending their right to speak out. Why can't these people understand that no one has denied them their right to speak out! Say what ever the heck you want to wherever! But, we have the right to no longer like you afterwards. It is called freedom, the American way.

After Sony signed them and hired stylists, they got the look that took propelled them towards Hollywood. It was just a matter of time.

No surprise! I called this move back when their foot-in-mouth episode occurred in the UK. I looked for the post but couldn't find it. JimRob, there's gotta be a better search engine that could find words in a title as well as a a poster.
The country music demographics are not consistent with their stated political leanings. They will never be more than an also-ran in country music after Natalie screwed the pooch. Their egos are way too big to accept that role.
Good Riddance!

I think Chix Wid Dix sounds good. They'd be a great top act on the rap scene, I would guess.

Homeless people, formally with the group "Dixie Chicks", now destitute, sounds good to me.

Pop music with cowboy hats ain't country music.

Amen.
Although I can relish the comedic possibilities of covers the Dixie Twits could do, such as 'It wasn't God who made honky-tonk airheads', or 'Silver threads and golden needles will not mend this brain of mine'.
Together, these girls don't add up to a 10-watt nite-lite.

A) Never piss in your own bathwater.
B) Dance with who "brung" you.
A lot of little dittys come to mind with this self destructive bunch....
...now if Nashville will get rid of that awful mural on Division street.
...aren't there any Nashvillians with the proper paint gun to speed up that process?

The origial Chicks, before the fat one, preformed all over Dallas back in the early 90's, and were good.
It wasn't until they got the "fat one" did they get stupid.

I love that guy. His Good side and his bad. Johnny Cash called him one of his best friends, thats good enough for me. I met him once, he sat on his tour bus step and signed and took photos until there were no more folks on line. Sing me back home!
