Fresno, California's Annual Tailgate Picnic 9/13/03

Today was Fresno, California's annual FReeper Tailgate Picnic and we had a wonderful time! I am not sure how many attended today's picnic but would estimate that there were about thirty-five to forty of us who attended.

We caught up with FReepers we hadn't seen in ages, discussed the upcoming recall election, ate fantastic food (including JKPhoto's famous tri-tip), listened to music, watched a tape recording of last night's news where they discussed whether or not FRee Republic was a hate group, and just all around had a fabulous time.

I am going to post just a few pictures that I took today and hope that all who were there will post their pictures if they have any and tell their thoughts about the picnic.

Were there any protesters about? There were earlier threads indicating that an organized plan to disrupt the picnic was being planned.

No, we didn't see any peaceniks or members from actual hate groups around today. ;-)

A police officer came by to see if we were having any problems with disrupters, but happily, we didn't! Guess they did their dirty work last night with the "hate rally, and Hate picnic" press release!

The food was great, thanks JK for the fabulous Tri-Tip! We also had some awesome cookies which I ate too many of made by Diamondhead. YUM!

JustAmy and Mama_Bear did such a good job playing hostesses. They must be so tired. Thanks so much for working so hard to make sure we were all fed and welcomed!

We had a good time, and ended the evening listening to some fabulous music by Tame. He is very talented, who knew? :-) We can all say we knew him when!

LIR, what a great recap of our wonderful afternoon! Thank you for all the sweet things you said, and thank you, mtngrl, for posting this thread.

It was a memorable afternoon spent with some of the nicest people I have ever met.

Thank you to all who drove such a great distance to be with us today (you know who you are, LOL), and thank you to everyone who brought the great salads, drinks, chips, dips and rolls, and to those who brought their wives, husbands, kids and grandkids. It was a nice family day.

A special 'thank you' to Tame for the music CD. I love knowing talented people! :-)

Well, actually, the local FOX channel was there in the beginning, and we were making a lot of joking comments! Not sure if they will air them or not, but we had a little fun with it!
