Orrin Hatch addresses immigrants(Illegal aliens)
Salt Lake Tribune ^ | 9/52003 | Christopher Smith

WASHINGTON--Speaking at a rally of young undocumented immigrants who are urging Congress to allow them to attend public colleges at in-state tuition prices, Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, said the country will "benefit enormously" by opening college classes to the children of people who entered the U.S. illegaly.

"We can choose either to keep these talented young people underground or we can choose to give them a chance to contribute to the United States," Hatch said at a Capitol Hill news conference Thursday to urge support of his "DREAM Act," the Development, Relief, and Education For Alien Minors Act.

The Bill sponsored by the Utah Republican and Sen. Dick Durban, D-Ill., would repeal a section of federal law preventing states from granting in-state tuition rates to non-U.S citizens who do not have proof they entered the country legally.

It also would grant pemanent U.S. residency status to immigrants who came to the United States prior to the age 16, have lived in the country at least five years, are "of good moral character" and earn a college degree, complete at least two years of college, serve in the U.S. miltary or perform community service.

"SNIP"

One of Congress' most outspoken critics of granting benefits of U.S. citizenship to undocumented immigrants, Rep. Tom Tancredo, R-Col., told a political magazine recently that both parties in Congress have been co-opted by a "cult of multiculturalism."

"There is no greater gap betWeen what the people of this country want and what the Congress is going to give them than there is on the issue of immigration...."

Agree, we are being attacked from within. When liberals and Dims pull this stuff, it's expected. But, what happened to Republican Senators/Congressmen representing the American citizens. Next week, I'm at meeting with people from RNC...boy are they so not going to want me there!

Say what you will about Michael Savage, but on this issue he is spot on

I agree with you there. He is one of the few left that addresses this craziness.

I was really gung-ho when Bush got elected, but not anymore. Where is he? Our 10 commandments hidden away like porn, no comment. Illegal immigrants and borders, no comment. I am sick of them all.

I don't know why they are trying to destroy our country. I do know shame on me for looking to any of them for any kind of leadership for our country.

Republicans, what a joke.

Just more proof that Orrin (Boobie) Hatch is an erratic lunatic!

He occasionally gets it right, but he is a nut-job far too often.

We need to ensure that this is his last term in office, and that this "bill" never gets out of committee.

Separate and aside from Sen Hatch's arrogance and stupidity, which is well known, one of the greatest obstacles to educational achievement is so-called in-state tuition.

Jacking the price up for out-of-state students is no more than a populist, soak-the-rich ploy intended to give a state's taxpayers misplaced confidence that the higher ed system they are forced to support serves the interests of "the common folk." After all, only the rich can send their kids off to a distant college like the University of Utah.

Reality is that foreign and non-resident students don't cover the costs at state colleges and universities; the taxpayers do.

Socialist enterprises always want the public to think they're indispensable, vital to the public good, a benefit to everyone.

Who really benefits? Certainly not the taxpayers, nor the hopeful students and academics left out in the cold. This country's socialist colleges practice discrimination of the very worst sort, denying entrance on account of race or nationality, denying tenure to professors on account of their political leanings.

It's way past time that the Congress examine the federal government's role in higher education.

There's little chance this bill of Hatch's and Durban's will bring that about, though.

Classes and parking lots were stretched to the limits 30 years ago at public colleges. Many students ended up going for 5 years to get a 4 year degree because they could not get the classes in a timely fashion. Plastering the colleges with illegals will make the problem worse. The K-12 schools have already be inundated and the quality destroyed by the alien invasion.

I have one son attending a public college in San Diego. My oldest son is attending Idaho State University in Pocatello. ISU is costing me about $2500 per semester. The son in San Diego is attending a junior college at around $500 per semester. That campus has been owned and operated by MeCHA for the last 30 years.

I am not suprised. Orrin Hatch already wants to send the kids of taxpaying citizens to prison, on terrorist charges, for life for file trading.

So now the Hatch wants illegal children to go to taxpayer paid school and legal taxpayers' children to rot in prison for life.

Am I the only one here who feels the sudden need to vomit because of the actions of this traitor.

One of the reasons college cost so much is that they are on building sprees...so they have new bldgs for the millions of legal and ILLEGALS who flock to the US for an education. All these new colleg bldgs are NOT for a State's local kids, but for out of staters, illegals and legals. With us the TaxSERFS picking up the tab.

"Republicans, what a joke."
Unfortunately, Bush can afford to completely ignore conservatives (and any one else who loves this country) because the Dems have candidates like Howard Dean who would not only let in all illegals, but I'm sure he would make us citizens carry their bags for them. Bush can afford to be lazy because he has no competition, and everyone is afraid of backing a third party candidate after Ross Perot succeeded in getting Bill Clinton elected. Only thing I can think of is that when the illegals take over California, we can shut off their water supply and make California a desert again.

(COPY AND DISTRIBUTE WIDELY. Revise and extend as you see fit, start a movement, print a petition, start a political party, confront your legislators, write letters, post posters, drop leaflets, demand, demand, demand…)

18 POINT ACTION PLAN: Border Violators

1) Close all US borders to illegal entry forthwith by any and all means possible, including military presence.

2) Maintain legitimate immigration levels at modest annual level with requirements that immigrants be employable or sufficiently wealthy for self-support if they do not intend to work, proficient in basic English and willing to be assimilated into American culture and language. All applicants shall provide prints, photos and DNA samples.

3) Legal immigration shall be awarded to individuals on a lottery basis, wherein all countries are given equal status in the immigration lottery, without regards to color or economic plight of originating nation.

4) Individuals of Islamic faith (muslims) from any country shall be denied immigration privileges or entry into the US. Christians and Jews from muslim countries fleeing religious persecution shall receive preferential and accelerated immigration privileges.

5) Detain all border violators, taking photos, prints and DNA samples of said violator while at the same time, checking for out standing warrants. If no warrants are outstanding, return border violators to home country within 20 days via commercial airline and submit cost of such action, including processing and housing costs for said violator, to country of origin. If costs are not paid within 30 days, reduce any and all aid to said country by a like amount.

6) Should any country from which a border violator originates not currently receive any aid from the US, the Justice Department shall be authorized to seize or secure liens on assets owned, managed or registered to that country to the full extent of the obligation.

Work permitted of such applicants shall be limited to one of several categories, including childcare, lawn/gardening, restaurant staff, cleaning, and the like. Families of GWV workers are not permitted to enter US, nor will the birth of a child to one of GWV status confer citizenship to either parent or child.

8) Any violation of civil or criminal laws shall result in the forfeiture of the GWV and immediate return to originating country.

9) GWV holders shall be prohibited from claiming unemployment benefits, welfare support or free medical service.

10) The originating country of all GWV holders shall be responsible for any uninsured loss caused by the GWV, including emergency medical claims and/or claims resulting from illegal actions committed while in the US.

11) Companies who hire GWV holders shall submit to the Immigration Dept the name and GWV number of that individual, along with a description of employment tasks. Companies shall be subject to fines and penalty that fail to report employment of GWV workers, or hire border violators. GWV workers shall be paid with check, having income tax withheld. GWV workers shall not be subject to unemployment tax because they are not eligible to receive unemployment compensation.

12) Border violators, or any non-citizen not possessing a valid visa, detained by local police for any reason shall be turned over to border control officials for immediate deportation action, except if they face criminal charges in other jurisdictions.

13) Border violators and GWV workers shall be prohibited from voting in local, state and federal elections.

14) Border Violators shall NOT be afforded the rights enjoyed by American citizens, as guaranteed under the constitution.

15) Public education (at institutions supported by taxpayer dollars) at any level (pre-school, kindergarten through the university level,) shall NOT be available to Border Violators (or children of Border Violators) and schools that enroll such individuals shall be subject to penalties.

16) Foreign Students (F/S) (individuals admitted to the U.S. for the purpose of attending any educational facility,) private institution or public (i.e. supported by taxpayer dollars,) must have valid student visas, such visas being in force only if the F/S attends school full-time. The originating country shall pay for any and all loss caused by students while on U.S. soil.

17) Border Violators seeking emergency medical treatment shall provide pictures, fingerprints and DNA samples along with country of origin, and shall be treated then incarcerated until information provided can be verified. It looks to me like Hatch is becoming unglued. His remark about blowing up the computers of downloaders was bad enough, but he's getting worse. It's a perfect example of why a six year term for senators is too long, they need to be elected every two like congressmen so it's easier to remove those who are unfit.

Borders? What borders. Hatch is helping to finance an invasion of this nation.

Both parties are. Did you see any mention at all in articles about the debate that at least one candidate...Kucinich...would as his first action sign the US out of NAFTA and WTO? Maybe we of the masses don't get to read about that because everyone from above has decided that a global view is what we get.

Here's the only hope I see. GWB gets defeated. We get, surprise, some other globalist. But, then the HOR could actually start representing the population. It seems that's where we are seeing the most openness to the will of the people. Under that scenerio, Representative Tancredo and his growing list of supporters could possibly initiate some real change, maybe even taking over party leadership.

The other possibility is that the Dems figure out who isn't just another candidate from the Uniparty and nominate that person. And, I don't mean Howard Dean!

When is Hatch going to address the American taxpayers and explain why he is going to gouge them for more money for the colleges since they now have to provide an education for everyone from Mexico and Central America who prefers to study here?

And please no "wetback" stuff on these threads.

From what people have told me --- "wetback" was someone who came here to work --- usually for the day or week --- work on a temporary basis and they'd go back to Mexico. That's why I think it's inappropriate to call most of the illegals "wetback" --- they aren't here to temporarily work, most are bringing in families for taxpayers to support and they plan never to return to Mexico but to mooch off US taxpayers for their entire lives. There is something more noble about the traditional wetback --- he never asked for handouts, he didn't expect free anything. I wouldn't insult them by using that term on the leeches.
