If these stories are true this is the biggest outrage I have ever read being done to a person by the medical community. It is beyond scary. I have emailed and called all numbers given. What else can I do? God Save Her.

IF they're true. And frankly, I find it hard to believe that they are. The statements which Ms. Iyer attributes to Michael Schiavo sound highly improbable. Statements like that certainly would have carried a huge risk of being repeated to other parties, leading to Mr. Schiavo losing guardianship, and likely losing access to the money he's supposedly after. So why would he say things like that to some random nurse? And all the nurses/nursing assistants are reporting that, years ago, they witnessed things which were clearly illegal. But they apparently never called the police, nor is there any indication that they ever tried to contact a state medical ethics board. How is it that just now, after all these years, they're deciding to share this information?

I believe they are true. There is another thread going on this subject and we need help.

This article deserved its own thread, thanks.
Lots of people still dont quite "get" all the fuss about Terri Schiavo.

I have no way of ascertaining if they are true or not, but they sure sound fishy. If I was a conniving husband of a brain-damaged husband, eager for her to die so I could get my hands on her medical trust fund, the last thing I'd be doing is gleefully exclaiming "I'm going to be rich" to a nurse who called to report a downturn in my wife's condition. And if they are true, these nurses, and their supervisors, and doctors, who threw out notes from direct caregivers and removed important information from Terri's chart, should all be facing criminal charges. If Michael is a murderous scumbucket, he's sure got a whole lot of company.

I "get" what the fuss is, but am reasonably skeptical of the story we're hearing (on this thread and others) -- the facts just don't add up. Why the sudden rush of reports from nurses who clearly remember witnessing -- but not reporting -- criminal acts some years ago? Have they been undergoing repressed memory therapy?

The suit charges that Terri was denied a guardian ad litem during most of the legal proceedings in which her husband sought to end her life and, the remainder of the time, suffered from "ineffective assistance of counsel, due process violations, and blatant conflict of interest with Terri's guardian, defendant Michael Schiavo," who is responsible for seeing that her legal interests are represented

I've said it before and I'll say it again .. Judge Greer needs to be brought up on ethic charges for denying Terri her constitutional rights

This is an OUTRAGE

Her husband has a long history of trying to get her to die. and these allegations made by Terri's husband would not surpise me at all to be true

Please read up on the case

If even half of what they are reporting is true, it's scary. I do not understand the nurses comments though. As a nurse myself, I would have gathered witnesses and reported this to the state when it was occuring. My DON would have had an incident report under her door every morning and I would have had a copy of my nurses notes and the incident reports to protect myself. It doesn't add up. The CNA reports are strange too. She states she fed her jello without an order? Someone with a high risk for aspiration? Even with an order a speech therapist or nurse would be supervising. I think this lady needs an independant guardian and an investigation but these witness reports trouble me.

Video tape him and his wife. Let the court see how she CAN eat, speak etc. - especially when she says "help me". Definitely video tape her lovely husband when he talks like this:

"Michael would be visibly excited, thrilled even, hoping that she would die," Iyer recalled. "He would blurt out, 'I'm going to be rich,' and would talk about all the things he would buy when Terri died, which included a new car, a new boat and going to Europe, among other things."

Well this hospice care center is like a nursing home and not a hospital and may not follow such guide lines as a hospital would. The one nurse states that she did make notes but that she found them in the trash later.

It's also been reported that the lawyer for Terri's husband use to be on the board for this hospice care center.

Bottom line .. there are many things that don't add up and Judge Greer should have appointed Terri an independant guardian a long time ago .. He didn't .. in fact he ruled against Terri's parents when they tried to have Michael removed as her guardian.

From what I can tell of this case .. the only one that Judge Greer has protected was Michael

I agree,
With all the nursing home lawsuits sweeping through Florida, calling the state in to investigate would seem obvious.

I do agree with your bottom line, however I do work in a nursing home and in Texas hospice is also done there. FEDERAL law requires abuse and neglect to be reported and every nurse regardless of where she works knows this. If true what kind of home is she in that would allow this to continue? Poor lady, she's fighting for a reason.

That's a very good question .. one that I don't have the answers for .. but I do think should be look into.
