Should Schwarzenegger quit?
The Washington Times ^ | August 28, 2003 | Op-Ed

Not really. Nor do we think Republicans Tom McClintock and Peter Ueberroth should get out of the race. At least not yet.

Well, maybe Mr. Ueberroth should. His blandness and lack of energy will not do.

The Democrats already have their Gray candidate. What's more, Mr. Ueberroth doesn't seem to be much more specific than Arnold Schwarzenegger, the frontrunner among Republicans currently in the race. But, then again, Mr. Ueberroth's nonpartisan pitch overrides his token Republicanism. For example, he's the only Republican in the race to oppose Proposition 187, the 1994 initiative barring state benefits to illegal aliens. Does this country-club Republican think he'll get Latino voters away from Democratic Lt. Gov. Cruz Bustamante? Indeed, in this crazy election, Mr. Ueberroth could end up with more Democrats and independent voters than Republicans.

So? Every vote for Arnold is one less vote Cruz needs to beat Tom. You logic is circular.

Should all the Tom supporter just fall in line with what you believe is best? Maybe we should instate a council for each party and let them decide the winner of that parties votes?

Who needs debate? If Arnold can win, Arnold is the best candidate.

Do you hear yourself?

do you have something intelligent to add

Most of what I write is intelligent. Here's some more intelligence:

1) Ahhnuld is a leftist.

2) By voting for Ahhnuld, you will be voting for a leftist, thus supporting a leftist agenda.

3) you are a RINOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Those are very intelligent and correct observations on my part.

As you pointed out, conservatives did not win the Senate seats or the Governor's race

1) a conservative wasn't running in the Governor's race

2) I pointed out how the liberal nominees lose by a wider margin.

If you're betting on a lineup of horses who all lost their last race, pick the one that only lost by a head.

Yes.

I support Arnold IF Cruz looks to win. I support Tom for now. I am willing to accept Arnold if it is the only way. But we have time.

I DO NOT call Arnold supporters Idiots, like you call Tom supporters.

I DO NOT call Arnold supporters Evil, like you call Tom supporters.

I do not call Fiscal Conservative worse than liberals, like you call Social Conservatives.

What are you talking about? Did you read the post?

It was sarcasm and was a spoof on the words of one side to the other.

Get a grip.

You are ignoring my original question. When is the last time a conservative won the election for Governor or Senator in CA?

I think considering the circumstances, Arnold is the best candidate if you want Davis/Bustamente out. Would Arnold be more or less likely than McClintock to work with the state legislature to get things back on track? It's a tossup IMO. Who has better name recognition and is polling higher right now. Arnold.

In Arnold was not in the race, McClintock could beat Bustamante.

But Arnold is in the race. And he is leading McClintock.

The stories aren't going to hurt Arnold. 95% of the people already suspect it... and don't care.

I'm sure you would like to eliminate form consideration the statewide offices that conservatives have won in recent years, but that's ridiculous and it would be uselless for me to engage in such a debate. Let's have a duel but you leave your weapon at home.

If you think winning the State treasury seat or other 2nd tier offices is as big a deal as winning the governor's seat. It's nott he same thing and you know it.

Let's put it this way. When is the last time a conservative was governor of California?

McClintock is the conservative in the race. Funny, I thought we were all conservatives as well.

I would back McClintock in a primary, or if he were ahead by the same ratio as Schwarzenegger, but neither of those conditions are met and the election is going to Bustamante (or perhaps Davis).
