...as if we are all a bunch of sexed up pot heads with no morals.

You are correct, of course. Not all Californians are that way...at some level I know there's Jim Robinson, for example...you, me, and many others, and our numbers are growing. BUT...

Back in the 70s, I lived in San Jose...a 4-bedroom tract house...my 2 daughters were born there...the teachers went on strike every year, demanding equal pay with babysitters (who made $1/hr. so teachers should get $1 times 30/hr.)...and I bought a hot tub for the backyard...in the middle of the redwood deck...

Women I barely knew would hop in that fiberglass pool of bubbly hot water...naked...without hesitation.

It was as though there were some sort of force field around the hot tub, where everything was okay...they certainly wouldn't do that in our living room...or guest room...or entry...

Some neighbors would grow marijuana for profit in their garages...using "Gro-Lights"...most would be stolen around harvest time...

They had Bongs displayed on their coffee tables, ready for use at a moment's notice...they seemed intent on showing me how the 'carburetor' worked...

Apartment dwelling friends often had marijuana plants growing openly on their balconies...

The Bee Gees could be heard singing 'Stayin' Alive' from the 100-Watt-per-channel stereo speakers...

The Symbionese Liberation Army marched on...

The SF Police went on strike...even though they were allowed to have hair bulging out from their uniform caps...so they wouldn't appear too "militaristic"...

Police Officer and SF City Supervisor, an associate of Dianne Feinstein, walked into Mayor Moscone's office and shot him dead...then went down the hall to plug Harvey Milk, Supervisor of the Gay District of San Francisco, where the Bath Houses were in full operation each night...men gathering together in pools of that hot, magical bubbly water to engage in "packin' fudge" with multiple partners...

Orgies and wife-swapping were common among the hetero crowd..."Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice"...the movie...remember?

And few were heard to criticize...after all, we had been "LIBERATED" here in the Hotel California!! The Baghwan was just beginning his move into Oregon....

Arnold was relatively articulate in the 70's. Heavier accent but no problems with English. Watch Pumping Iron, which is full of Arnold interviews.

Smoking pot is not hard drug use.

And yes, 1977 was very different. It was almost like it was legal, so open was its use.

1977? He was probably partying with then governor Jerry Brown.

Reminds me of "Spaceman" Bill Lee, the old baseball player, talking about how he smoked weed with GW Bush in the 70s, and he's the best man for office, since Americans are looking for someone to party with.

I made some terrible choices in my youth. I congratulate you if you didn't

Hell I made some too, still makin' them once an a while, not as often.
Making bad choices in one's past is just part of growing up. We are all humans and if my memory serves me right, no one is perfect except maybe GOD or Jesus.

Those hollier than thou posters better have a reality check in their past, before pointing fingers, ...further more whats wrong to be braggadocios about your manhood anyways?

I can claim some pointers myself when I was 25, and I am not ashamed to point it out. That was 21 Years ago!

No, basically your posts are repeatitive. I support your middle ground, and I, too, will support McC if the numbers turn around.

I'm sorry, I am lumpin' those who desire to be called social conservatives into one group. I am guilty. I include you with neither Reagan, nor Bush, nor Bush. The grouping to which I refer displays intolerance and hate. Jesus loved everyone and took even the lowest to his fold, and his faith was always in people, even in those he knew would betray him. He would turn the other cheek, he would suffer the blows in righteousness. Yet the intolerant do not. Woe. The temple must be in the heart first.

I'm sure we occupy the same ground on many issues, but I live here, I follow it, I listen to people. I don't care what happens, they will not turn out in the numbers for McC to win. They are so disgusted with politics, in general, that they really and truly don't care. Although here its not true, they think that registering to vote means the hassle of jury duty. This ain't me we're talking about, its dumbassed kids, in their 20s and 30s. The one kinda negative thing I said about McC was in jest, poor jest, and I repeated what one of these kids said while watching McC on tv, she pointed and laughed and said 'look at that crosseyed dude, owweeee'. I don't know what more to say, unless there is dramatic change McC ain't gotta chance and any division will hurt what we have.

You do realize that the reason Arnold didn't run in the last election is because the Dems and tabloids had a huge dossier on his recent 'character'?

Arnold is a movie Superstar, that dossier would have already come out.
I'll bet this is about all they have.

The only Dem chance is a split within the Conservatives.

You're right. We Republicans vote for nude-posing, orgy-partaking, dope-smoking candidates all the time. It's a non-issue.

Alright, now don't you feel better?

Apartment dwelling friends often had marijuana plants growing openly on their balconies...

Yup. And not just in California.

And please. I am not saying it was right. I am remembering the way it was.

I don't think most people gave two figs if bill clinton smoked pot back in the seventies. What garnered ridicule was his "didn't inhale" line.

Jesus loved everyone and took even the lowest to his fold that would repent keep His commandments.

Jesus does not accept sin - only a repentant sinner. Of course Jesus did not tell us to setup civil laws to jail gays or force Christian living. That would negate the free choice which is central to salvation.

This is the first I have heard of someone claiming to have smoked with GWB.

Let get this straight, what I bragged about 25 years ago when I was doing it is not the same thing that I would discuss with most people nowadays.

Don't be such a tool. The left released this little tidbit of trash to manipulate the moral policemen such as yourself. These are the exact same tactics in which they used against you ideological tools in 2002 to boot Riordan and run Simon. You guys fell for it then and your falling for it now.

I can't help but think that we could be avoiding this whole recall if you guys actually had half a brain to go with your bucket of principals. Because Riordan would be a whole hell of a lot better than either Simon or Davis.

I hope you are right about Lowe becoming a better person. However, he has been a very active liberal. Many liberals have stated they supported war. When I read about Arnold appointing him as an adviser to his campaign, it was Robe Lowe, a Democrat. I am concerned that Arnold is a RINO and republicans are willing to over look this. Like Bloomberg is for NY, as I said in my previous post. I am also concerned it will eventually hurt our party if electing a liberal claiming to be republican because he has a better chance to win.
