A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Last week, we brought you "Cooking With FReepers" featuring guest host and Master Chef, Carlo. Throughout that thread, several *fattening* recipes were passed around.
Taking into consideration that the holidays are right around the corner, I felt that it would be prudent to help you shed those unwanted pounds brought on by trying out those delicious recipes and sitting endless hours in front of the PC to FReep. So, being the concerned FReeper FRiend that I am, I present to you:
by dansangel
Admit it - Free Republic is *so* addictive, you just don't get anywhere near the recommended daily amount of exercise. You're in good company, so don't feel ashamed. By following the scientifically developed exercise regimen designed specifically for FReepers and presented below, you will be guaranteed to "shed those unwanted pounds, tone up flab and add *years* to your life, or your money back!"
So, what are you waiting for? Let's get started!
First, it is *imperative* that you have the proper area in which to perform your exercise program. Study the above chart carefully and conform your workspace to the specs given before starting the FReepercise program.
Next, it is always recommended that you start out slowly and work your way up to the more difficult exercises. With this in mind, the above illustrated exercise is perfect to start. Take your hands and s-t-r-e-t-c-h them as far as they will go over the width of the keyboard. Now, relax. S-t-r-e-t-c-h and relax. Repeat for a total of 10 times. Rest for five minutes and go on to the next set.
OK. Next, you will need to find a soft, squishy object that fits in the palm of your hand. A cat or dog toy will do. Looking at the above example, hold the object in your hand in a similar fashion and s-q-u-e-e-z-e. Relax. Now, once again s-q-u-e-e-z-e and relax. Repeat for a total of 10 times. Rest only for four minutes this time and then it's on to the next set.
Now comes the fun. It is scientifically proven that computer games cause your heart rate to elevate along with blood pressure and respiration. Since this is a sign of exertion, it qualifies as FReepercise. Fire up your favorite program and have at it for 30 minutes. When finished, take a five minute breather. Then, it's on to something a bit more rigorous.
Place both of feet firmly on the floor. As illustrated above, lean a-l-l the way over to your right, as far as you can go. Then, lean a-l-l the way over to your left, again as far as you can go. Repeat ten times. Feel the burn! This time, rest ten minutes. You'll need it.
For this one, you'll need to leave the comfort of your work space. Find a couple of two-pound weights and an object that can be used as a step. A couple of wine bottles and the kid's annoying boombox will do. Look at the picture above and do the drill. Think he looks like a dork? Just don't look in the mirror. You'll be fine. Oh, and about fifty of those will suffice.
Tired yet? Good. No pain, no gain. Repeat the above carefully planned regimen for the next 6 weeks and you, too can look like this:
Or this:
*Guaranteed* ~ Or, your money back. [*G*]

1) Click on the graphic to open the Calendar. 2) Once there you can click on any month and even click to the right to go into next year. Once you are in the month that you joined FR you will need to click on the number in the calendar and then an add item screen will come up. 3) In the next box enter your name in the "Calendar Text" field and then click on submit. 4) If any of the screens fail to load simply click on refresh in your browser and that will usually fix it. 5) If all else fails or simply if you want me to do this for you send me a FReepmail and I will gladly do it for you. ~Mixer

God Bless Our Military
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Below are names of some of our FReepers' loved ones who are serving our country. If you have someone you would like to add, please address a post to Billie; Dansangel; Dutchess; Mama_Bear; and we will add their name to this list. As we pray for them, we pray also for all our nations leaders, and military personnel, and their families and friends. May God hold them close to His heart.
~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~
We ask Lord, that You guide the leaders of our great country in their hour of decision. The burden that has been placed on their shoulders is overwhelming. We ask that with Your infinite wisdom You guide them gently to the right decisions.
Please give us the strength, Lord, to get through each difficult and devastating day that faces each of us and our country. Protect and guide our Military that are now being called to duty, strengthen them in their trials and temptations; give them courage to face the perils which beset them; and grant them a sense of your abiding presence wherever they may be; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Well, as usual, by the time I get time to sit down everyone has gone to bed. It seems to me that Finest Freepers are going to bed earlier these days. We used to sit up till all hours of the night.

Next thing you know...we will be hearing about Weinie running as Hillary's VP!Even politicians like me have a line in the sand they will not cross.
One b*tch per ticket is enough.
I predict her running mate will be---
Gertie or Fargo! They have no morals which will be tops on Hillary's list of criteria for a running mate.

Hi WVNan! I'm still here. Printing my new brochures! Big hugs!
Great to hear you visit the Wellness Center. Way back when, before children, I use to be addicted to the gym. I even did Karate! (do you believe, I actual won a gold medal in the NE Region for Karate?)
Oh well, I swapped that body long ago for children. Gotta love them!

I see Gertie as more of a behind the scenes instigator like me.
Now Fargo! Fargo has Al Gore written all over him!
If Fargo doesn't get CA, he will surely run as VP with Hillary!

I think it's time for you to do your job and get Fargo and Gert back in our camp! What do I pay you for?
Have you figured how much we are keeping out of each campaign $? I wonder how much Aeronaut would charge to pull that sign?
Stop shooting ducks and get with the program! Because of you I had to join Ducks Unlimited!

Oh my, now I've been away so long that you are probably gone. Yes, I go three days a week and it has really helped me. I was so out of shape from years of sitting I was having trouble walking up a flight of steps. I'm back to running up the steps now.

Had an early tourism meeting, then went to exercise for a couple of hours. Then spent a lot of time trying to help Roy figure out how to make a Mothman LOL. I also went and bought some material and props to redecorate his front window. Kathey and I will go back down in the morning and finish up some of the cleaning etc. How was your day? You've been on my mind. Walking on the treadmill is prayer time too.

He spent the afternoon running between the kitchen and my sewing room..I'm working on a new block. I draft them out at the kitchen table then take them piece by piece to the sewing room..no room for the ironing board in sewing room.
