Aug. 13 (Bloomberg) --Arnold Schwarzenegger, the actor who is running for governor of California, said billionaire investor Warren Buffett will be the financial and economic adviser to his political campaign, the campaign said in a statement.
Buffett, the world's second-richest man, has built a fortune buy buying companies through his company, Berkshire Hathaway Inc. Debbie Bosanek, Buffett's assistant, didn't immediately return a phone call seeking comment.

Ok, you have me there. Now a question to you.
Who would you rather have as Governor of California, Bustamante or Arnold(the two leading candidates in the Oct. 7th election).
And no fudging, it is straight forward question, that devesres a straight forward answer.

Then again, how important it is for a state governor to have good economic advisors? Can y'all hear yourselves?
To: NativeNewYorker
That's where he has made his biggest investments the past 6 yrs.

This is no problem - as long as Arnuhld doesn't listen to Warren, but my fear is that he will. (And Buffet is not conservative - at least not with Government money and tax policies)

It is probably a very shrewd political move for Arnold, for this particular election. As for real impact on policy, just depends on if Buffett or Kudlow is more representative of his overall economic strategy. My hope is that this is more a marketing ploy, and perhaps an attempt to get a well-rounded cabinet of advisors(sorta the way Powell and Rumsfeld play off each other in Bush's WH). Will play very well to the moderates, independents, non-Kool Aid drinking Dems, Perot types, and the young/politically disinterested.

Wonder how he weathered the Enron debacle.

Bustamante, because after Cruzzie sells Kalifornia to Mexico, the US will be rid of Feinswine and Boxer from the US Senate!

Buffett is a frickin' socialist. How many socialist zillionaires are there anyway?
To: BunnySlippers
Several. Buffett, Bill Gates, Soros...just to name a few.

Why do you think I am defending it? I don't like Warren Buffett, whose department store in Omaha was the place where Hillary registered for "gifts" when she left the White House. He has been vocal about the tax cut, which makes me even more suspicious of him.
I was simply commenting on the effect this would have on the electorate, which is mostly NOT going to view this as anything but a positive move.
That doesn't mean I like Warren Buffett, nor does it mean I agree with Arnold on this.
Apparently you want me to run around yelling "we're doomed" every time anything happens. Sorry to disappoint you.
And let us remember that I cannot vote in this, and neither can you.
To: EternalVigilance
At least its not Jimmy Buffett, although that would be cool, we could all get drunk, listen to music and forget about it.

Buffet is going to help to do something about California's plummeting credit rating. Regardless of where he stands on taxation, his purpose is to help fashion a policy that will draw business BACK to California. That, my friend, doesn't include raising taxes. He's a financial genius and as long as they use his financial genius to help pull California out of the dumps, it's fine with me.
Buffet may not be a fiscal conservative, but Arnie is. You have to take your best shot quickly if you're going to turn Cali around.

Freepers just want to believe and rationalize. Face it: there is every reason to believe that Arnold's first move (as has been the case with many GOP governors) will be to raise taxes. This is something that neither Davis, nor probably Bustamente, could do.
To: NativeNewYorker
Okay. I hereby revoke any positive statement made regarding Ahnold. Warren Buffett is a socialist. WTF is going through that guy's head? Maria must be doing a Lysistrata treatment on him...
To: Dane
If they are the only two choices, Arnold of course, but right now they are not the only two.
McClintock would be my preference if I lived in CA. If it got within two weeks of the election and McClintock hadn't a chance, I would support Arnold vigorously in the final days pre-election.

I seem to remember that Mayor Bloomberg of New York was also called a "financial genius" in his business career.
