[history]
Actor Arnold Schwarzenegger voted for a 1994 ballot measure to deny social services to illegal immigrants, his campaign said Sunday -- offering the first glimpse of the actor's stand on a major policy issue.
The Republican has promoted himself as the candidate in California's gubernatorial recall who can best appeal to the state's politically and ethnically diverse electorate.

Yes, this is very useful information. I still think other candidates have less baggage, better skills, morals & experience for the task.
I say we shall all be Californians when the bill comes due-it is very large & includes much more than mere money. This man has clearly stated he has 'conflicts' culturally. I think he demonstrates by other comments he has moral problems. Ethics. Standards. We cannot allow folks who have none to be in control of major govenrmental entities.
To: xm177e2
Read your tag line. He holds no standards for moral behavior. How can he be expected to adhere to standards in other matters??
Ever heard the question about a guy, "If he has done such&such to his wife, what would he do to us?" If the man admits he doen't care about sexual morality, disavows portions of the Constitution, admits to cultural conflicts ( it is after all a very complex place he seeks to govern ), & well, there are folks with NONE of these problems. His very words are conflicted, clumsy & convey no clear intent. Why did he not present intelligent PLANS??
The Man aint got no PLAN. Brother Dyson has the story-his post #65 on
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/961407/posts?page=65#65: Here's the real choice: a candidate who agrees with us on many issues, but has a liberal streak -- or a democrat who agrees with us on nothing and will work against us on national campaigns. You pick.
WHAT "MANY POINTS"!? The man doesn't even have a platform!
All we're getting is the idealized Schwarzenegger. The man himself has put forth no plan or platform; only platitudes and soundbites.
Sorry, but that crap just doesn't cut it in the realy world.

If you people didn't exist, the Democrats would have to invent you to mislead and sucker well meaning GOP voters.
Given any election, you are willing to sell out the economy, the military and governmental efficiency and competence in favor of an impossible and radically idealist notion on gun control, abortion, as well some vague expression that historical white European cultural values should predominate. In the end, you wind up helping to place Democrat politicians in office who are your polar opposites on abortion, gun control and your social values, all while standing there slack jawed and glassy eyed, while drooling how perfectly principled you are.

Yes, this is very useful information. I still think other candidates have less baggage, better skills, morals & experience for the task. Almost all of his baggage is 20 years old, we need to cut some slack. The 70s and early 80s were a completely different universe as to how people behaved (we have a drunk driving, drug using President, yet, I think he is a very different and an extermly moral person now).
He is surrounded by Repubs and is already seeking their advice and council. His business and personal background shows courage and determination (his business accumen is unbelievable). His rags to riches story needs to replicated on a grander scale for California.
Now, if we could mold his social agenda and temper his liberal tendencies everyone would be happy.

How very nice to learn that morality, the Constitution & all that rot are extremist. I MUST be a 'wing-nut'-I was called a 'Fundie' by some Homos about a month ago-Fundementalist, to me, for having any standards! Wow! I like the insult!
Careful there-you are getting a little testy about delicate matters:"white European cultural values should predominate".
You know the guy is quoted as saying he has 'conflicts' from his very white, Austrian childhood & his adulthood spent in Kalifornia. Maybe he is too white for the state? I say he is really too light up-stairs in the Gray Matter. His mouth requires a zipper, controlled by some political operative. He could also use a PLAN.
If you have 'issues' about folks with ethics & morals, then you could move to any of many communities around the nation-folks who want an any-thing-goes life-style are pretty concentrated. That would allow you to avoid folks like me entirely-if you choose. You might want to consider why you say such rude things as:
"while drooling how perfectly principled you are"
Do you drool? My dog does, but I actually wipe her great big muzzle when she uploads water. She has standards too, by the way. Beign a big English Mastiff, she stands back when our other dogs behave just like silly dogs-she actually studies the event before partaking. Imagine-even some dogs may have standards! I wonder what that means?
Seriously now, this nation was founded & purchased with the blood of folks who had
"impossible and radically idealist notions".
They called them Principles. Morals. They did not compromise & neither should we.
Nor should we insult one another when attempting to select folks JUST LIKE THE FOUNDERS-male & female. Forgive my curiousity-Would Condi be too, just way tooo much of a 'Fundie' for you?

The man has a couple of months. I would take great pleasure in his sudden re-education & reform. I fear the opposite. A guy who was harp enough for the task would have been more cautious in his speech & prepared a PLAN. Too late I fear. His mouth will also be a problem. it is controlled by his brain. He has not really moved, yet, beyond his own personal endevars. This next step is a big one. It will affect us ALL-directly.
I also know he reminds me way too much of The Little General-the hand-grenade with the bad hair-cut.
Those other guys in the race look pretty good to a radical Fundementalist like me.
To: Chancellor Palpatine
""impossible and radically idealist notions" Thanks - I should like your permission to use it as a tag-line-may I? It is so much nicer & more eloquent than Fundie.
To: BushCountry
By the way, Mr. Bush reformed himself ( may we jsut say he grew up-matured with a little help from his significant other ) way, way, way before his public comming out. I cut him no slack-he cut his own. He is a big boy. I think The Arnold very small. COmpare the wives! I'ld put my German-Chezkoslovakian-Texas version up there with The Laura-they have gravitas. What was the name of that nice lady who married The Arnold? Where were Her standards when she married him, back when you think the man created his baggage?
Why does he have the ambition but not have THE PLAN?
Many say I am very harsh-I say life is harsh. So to gravity, physics-entirely unforgiving. It all adds up to a need for very high standards. I say we could demnand that & gain or ignore that & loose.
To: demlosers
But Democrats were quick to jump on the disclosure as a chink in the action hero's armor. Chink? Looks like a plus to me. Only a Democrat could consider an anti-marxist stand a chink.

Read your tag line. He holds no standards for moral behavior. The point of the tagline is simple, it is to question why "peace activists" are always against liberal Western Democracies like America and almost never complain about crimes committed by anti-American communists and fascists. It refers to Stalinists, Maoists, Ba'athists, and Pacifists. I don't see anything in there about liberals, democrats, leftists, libertarians, or most anyone else to the right of Dick Gephardt. It is not an attack on leftism, liberalism, socialism, or permissivity.
As far as I'm concerned, liberal Democrats who didn't oppose the war are probably basically decent people, and I think we can disagree with them respectfully. As long as people can recognize that Saddam Hussein and Joe Stalin and Che Guevara were terrible criminals, and it was good that America stood up to them and their ilk, they pass the test.
Arnold passes the tagline test with flying colors.

The Arnold is a moral idiot-not an insult, a condition. He disavows morals. He belongs among those you tag-perfectly.

Please show me something concerning his lack of morals within the last 10 or 15 years (no, I don't mean political idealogy).

Ah, but political ideology IS a clear statment of one's morals-perhaps the clearest.
For voters seeking to understand how Schwarzenegger would govern California,
political analysts say the best example may be former Gov. Pete Wilson, who is supporting the actor, and even Gov. Gray Davis during his first term, when he tried to skip across the political spectrum and angered many liberal Democrats.
"It's like going through a buffet line where you find all sorts of things, on the left and the right, that you can chose from," said Bill Whalen, a research fellow at the Hoover Institution, who advised Schwarzenegger in 2001 and analyzed his public positions.
THIS sounds so very, very Klintoon. The Arnold, The Klintoon, the sheeple who bleet as the go up the shute for sheering! I am far from being the only one to cry wolf-some pros have already done so with harsh words. Man, the alarm to General Quarters is soo loud! This is no drill!

"But according to some of the more strident mcclintock supporters Arnold's a socialist.
How can this be?"
It is a contradiction to be fiscally conservative and socially liberal: The two are mutually exclusive. If one is fiscally conservative one must necessarily be opposed to spending money on programs that support socialist aims, because such progams are not only overly expensive, but they are usually bankrupting. Arnold is not a conservative on any issue; he is only "moderately" moderate; he is primarily on the left and is, at the end of the day, a socialist.
To: PhiKapMom
I respectfully disagree with you. A Republican who cannot pull the lever for someone who does not support or advance Republican ideals is not a RINO, but the candidate for whom he or she will not vote IS a RINO, because that candidate has shown he or she does not support or advance Republican ideals. Michael Bloomberg, the current mayor of NYC, is a RINO: there is nothing Republican about him, and he only switched parties because he got into a snit with some Dems who refused to support him. Richard Riordan, the former mayor of Los Angeles, and a very close Scharzennegger ally, is a RINO, as well: he is pro-abortion, pro gun-control, pro homosexual "rights," and is overall a social liberal.
