[history]
The prosecutor in the Kobe Bryant rape case says he has slam-dunk evidence to prove the NBA superstar's guilt, it was revealed on the eve of the hoopster's first court appearance today. Eagle County District Attorney Mark Hurlbert made that strong claim in court papers arguing against making public the police affidavit written to justify Bryant's arrest early last month.

Kobe Bryant is no more guilty than ... um, um, um ... Scott PetersonLOL! Or that idiot Democratic congressman whose staffer disappeared and is presumed murdered. I can't even remember the sap's name now (Condit?), but a lot of the same crew hoisting Kobe on their shoulders here were condemning that politico and accusing him of murder the first three minutes after the woman's disappearance was announced.
In the court of public opinion, guilt or innocence doesn't depend on the evidence. It depends on who you like. On a conservative website, a liberal Democrat congressman is doomed from the outset long before evidence is adduced. But a famous and fabulously popular sports star is excused and sainted by the same mob as the most innocent and pure being since Mother Teresa.

And on the flip side, if the judge kept the cameras out, the media would be asking even more questions as to why he made that decision. As you pointed out, with the cameras rolling, there can be no questions as to what happened during the hearing.

I saw some waitress (I think) from a diner there interviewed today. Her take on what she is hearing from the customers is about a 50/50 split of opinion re: the case.
But one thing she did confirm...is EVERYBODY has one....lol.

It's hard to hide in the sunshine.

None of that surprises me at all, including the 50/50 split on opinion. I'm sure that in a 15 minute stroll through that little town you could hear just about any theory you care to name! :)

Torn clothes + torn, and battered flesh + dna evidence, = conviction. Case closed

Should have some interesting stuff on my legal battles sometime this month. Have you been following the former Tacoma police chief murder-suicide in late April? There should be some real explosive stuff coming out on that. I know who the WA SP lead investigator is, and based on my contacts with him, he will do everything he can to whitewash the case. The corruption goes all the way to the top of Washington government and including the state supreme court.

Depends on the venue. I haven't seen an overwhelming declaration of "Sainthood on Sir Kobe".....anymore than I've seen the same attributed to "Saint Alleged Victim" on these threads. The personalities of the posters override their common sense is what I've seen more of.....in abundance.
BTW.....is the use of the word 'mob' indicative of anything in particular?

I would love Rita to be right (purely selfish reasons). I'm tire of seeing women trashed on this forum and others-especially blondes. Hey, I am a blonde! Equal rights for blondes: Dumb blonde joke should be considered a hate crime.

I don't see anything wrong with it exactly. But if my life was on the line, I would wear a suit and tie. I wonder if Kobe realizes how serious this is. I heard someone say Kobe wouldn't think of pleading guilty to a lesser charge because it would be the end of his basketball career. If the evidence goes against him he should think about what prison would be like before he make that decision. Staying out of prison is more important than any job. LOL

Torn clothes + torn, and battered flesh + dna evidence, = conviction. Case closed Ah, classic math but you neglect how corrupt the common man has become. The fans support perps who rape because they score for their team.
Call in the new math
or classic misogyny.
Either way, I think the trial will be the playoffs for some. Kobe Bryant fans will either celebrate his acquittal or emulate his conduct upon his conviction.

http://www.aberdeennews.com/mld/aberdeennews/news/6473310.htm Fight over Kobe Bryant's guilt or innocence led to stabbing
Associated Press
RAPID CITY, S.D. - An argument over whether basketball star Kobe Bryant is guilty or innocent led to a stabbing early Wednesday morning in Rapid City.
It happened at a house on the north side of town, police said.
Lowell Beaudreau was stabbed in the arm and the suspect is a man known only as "Mad Dog," officers said.
Beaudreau was treated at the hospital and released.
Bryant made his first court appearance Wednesday in Colorado on a sexual assault charge.

Justshe, very well put and I think you are right. I see it even in my neighbors. One of my neighbors was quite wealthy-fast cars, boats and lots of pretty toys. They are nice people, and I like them. The husband lost his job and they are struggling to make it-can barely put food on the table. I try to help; I know what it is like-just went back to a lesser paying job after losing my job in December. I Buy stuff at BJ's (big portions at BJs) and beg my neighbor to help me out and take some of this stuff before it spoils....You know; neighbors need to be there for one another. Boy was I shocked to hear some of the nasty, vicious talk going around about this unfortunate couple: mean spirited is an understatement. People are taking delight at their misfortune: can't understand it. Our kids play with each other. Makes me wonder what they say when I'm not around. LOL

There was lots of blood evidence. The defense discredited it by playing the race card and saying the evidence was not properly handled, but there was too much evidence . He did it. The DA totally screwed up the case. You can't blame the jury-really. He planned this killing carefully and may have had an accomplice. I think he is a sociopath-incapable of feeling remorse:much less showing it.

There has been media reports that the defense team is looking for dirt-talking to everybody. Supposedly, the locals are not particularly cooperative.

The Colorado reporter (forget his name) said she never made allegations against other men-this was described as a one of the "myths" in the Kobe Bryant case-for what it's worth.

Your post about the waitress is very interesting but not surprising to me. If I were the defense, I would interview every taxi cab driver, barber/hairdresser, bartender, and server at the local coffee shops/watering holes. These are the people that other people talk to or who overhear people taking about the news of the day.
I said on another thread that I had been giving a lot of thought about the effect of this event on this small town and the problem that the prosecution will have in finding a jury of twelve people who have not formed opinions about the guilt or innocence of the accused.
I said then that I thought that a thing like this would split the community right down the middle, with a sizable portion not knowing or caring who is right but hating what the entire thing has done to their community and their lives and blaming the accuser for the disruption. Not fair, but there it is.
This is why I think that the defense has not sought a change of venue and likely will not. They will never in any other locale get a better built in jury pool who know or know of the accused and don't like/trust/believe her.
Query: what happens if in a high profile crminal case ln a small town if they cannot seat enough jurors to have a trial. It would be a misrtrial, but could it be retried?
To: cyncooper
Your timing is wrong and also the demeanor was not as you describe. You've clearly not read the transcripts; both the timing and demeanor were precisely as I described. The testimony of one other passenger on the plane was part of the record and this was a businessman who had flown with OJ on several prior occasions and who spoke with him on this flight, and he insisted that OJ was telling jokes, totally at ease and happy, and clearly lacking a care in the world. People who flew with OJ on the return trip, after he'd learned of the murdres, described him as shaken.

I had a sadist for a Doctor when I delivered my fourth and last child. He was only to willing to use Pitocin, but didn't believe in epidurals. (never got a break number four took over 12 hours) He believed in natural (except for the pitocin of course-think he had a golf game) childbirth. I did not have an episiotomy and ripped. I think it did take about six stiches to repair the damage. I don't want to be gross, but it was almost in the anal area. Think about how compact that area is-ladies. (men should not read this post!) I had a nine pound baby. Kobe's manhood is not as big as the head of a nine pound baby! I don't think consensual sex could cause that kind of damage, and boy did it hurt. It hurt for months. I don't know who I hated more then: the doctor or my husband who had the nerve to say, "you don't need drugs think of the baby, dear" and (how dare he!) "you are doing great." LOL
