[history]
The prosecutor in the Kobe Bryant rape case says he has slam-dunk evidence to prove the NBA superstar's guilt, it was revealed on the eve of the hoopster's first court appearance today. Eagle County District Attorney Mark Hurlbert made that strong claim in court papers arguing against making public the police affidavit written to justify Bryant's arrest early last month.

I like what he did for the Dallas Mavericks. They were a 2nd-tier team all those years (and lower) and he has made them true contenders. He also lowered the price of tickets, I hear. I wish they would do that here in Phoenix! It is a major expense to see a game with a decent seat, & not worth it the way the teams are playing now! The last time we went we spent over $300 for the evening, just the 2 of us. Ridiculous!!

Let's put it this way -- the judge made Kobe appear in Court today in front of a media circus when attorneys not connected to the case said it was unusual and there was no need for him to attend!
That speaks volumes!

I like Brit too. I love the end when he does that humorous bit and smirks. He reminds me of Johnny Carson.

Court is court and you dress appropriately. You USED to dress "appropriately." I served on a civil jury last year, and none of the men (me included) wore a tie, for five days. The defendant did, but he was clearly uncomfortable in it.
I'll bet KB wears a tie to the next hearing, and the trial.
It appears you've already made up your mind here, so KB not wearing a tie ought to make you happy, as it might reflect negatively on him in the minds of a potential jury pool.
Or, most likely, not.

I was impressed by him when he decided that the chairs on the sidelines were not meant for tall NBA players and replaced them with more comfortable chairs. Then he decided that the team meals that were usually cold sandwiches were being replaced with real meals.
He is a player's owner and I like that. Those players love playing for this owner.

Brit is one of the best interviewers. He gets real answers from people and challenges their positions, but always shows respect. That isn't easy to do!

The DA and the defense attorneys both agreed that he didn't have to come.
The judge demanded he be there.

I think Mara is looking ENTIRELY too casual in her dress today. That open throat blouse is MUCH too casual for her position on a national news panel. And she doesn't even have the good grace to wear pearls!

Absolutely- I enjoy the panel too. I am sure Brit has no desire to cover the Kobe story. He is really interested in politics-and is always fair in my opinion.

Isn't it amazing the people on here that have made up their mind without seeing the evidence in court and hearing the witnessed UNDER oath -- not just granting TV interviews as sources?
So much for "innocent until proven guilty" since he is being tried and convicted in the media and on here!
He may be guilty or something else might have happened -- me I will wait until the trial and the evidence. I don't trust the media to tell me the sky is blue so why would I trust them to tell me someone is guilty!

Mara has very pretty hair. What is she like on the radio? Does she still work for NPR? I always get the impression that she & Alan Colmes are much more moderate in their views on Fox than they are elsewhere!

A judge shouldn't concern himself with the media. This is a small town, not LA, so what Napolitano says probably doesn't mean much. Small towns frown on crime a lot more than LA does.
That speaks volumes!
Yes it does. It means that this court will do it's job whether the media likes it or not. Napolitano and the media isn't running this trial, this court is, and they're going to do it way they would do it for a local it appears so far.

The DA and the defense attorneys said that he didn't have to be there and the Judge said he did. If wanted to just hear the case, then he would have closed the courtroom to TV cameras instead of allowing them in to keep the camera on him!
Your comments are unbelieveable to anyone that knows anything about courtrooms! Close the Courtroom if you are not interested in face time!

You USED to dress "appropriately." No, I am in court all the time, and I always dress appropriately.
I haven't said if I have made up my mind or not. I was just reporting what the experts on Court TV were saying and that I agree wholeheartedly. I was just surprised that it was brought up, but obviously it was important enough for all the attorneys to mention it.

That tells me the Judge wants to be the next Judge Ito!How do you know that? Do you know if this judge regularly requires the accused to show up for these hearings in these serious cases? If he does, then what he did was in keeping with the way he runs his court.
