MINNEAPOLIS, Aug. 5 — The clergyman seeking to become the first openly gay bishop in the Episcopal Church has been cleared of 11th-hour allegations, church sources have confirmed, NBC News’ Jim Avila reported Tuesday afternoon. The vote by bishops to confirm the elevation of the Rev. V. Gene Robinson, which had been postponed Monday for an investigation into the surprise allegations, was rescheduled for Tuesday afternoon.

In the news last night, the ABC affiliate in WNY had a doofus in a dog collar state "homosexuality is a gift from God".

Some gift

Some church

...that could be said of almost any religion; all kind of people show up, for all kinds of reasons. But most, I think are finding a 'way' to practice some spiritual dicipline and trying to find, or sustain some Faith.

More babble from another fence rider.

I know a gay UMC pastor and he was tossed out on his ear.

By whom and for what reason?

What used to be the Episcopal church has become a meeting place for various individuals who want pretend to be religious.

I went to a christening at an Episcopal church several years ago, although you could have fooled me. The service was more like a meeting of the Communist Party USA than any religious ceremony.

How long before the war of words over our culture turns into a second civil war? Not much longer I think.

"More babble from another fence rider."

. . .perhaps you have a differing opinion you would like to share?

Or is that all there is. . .

:This means that Anglicans can convert to Catholic but not lose the liturgy they are familiar with." Interesting accomodation; they were not so accomodating with Catholics who wanted stay with the familiar 'Latin Mass'. . .

But which liturgy? There was quite a big fight in the 60s and 70s over the prayer book and though it was not all about language, the "archaic" language of the 1928 BCP did draw fire and the 1979 pretty much modernized it. (It's been many, many years since I last opened my 1979 BCP, so I don't recall how much, and whether there's difference in language between Rite I and Rite II.)

As an Anglican, accustomed to (and loving) the language of the '28, I'd be very uncomfortable faced with what I perceive as the clunky language of the '79 Rite II. But a younger Episcopalian would probably be even worse off faced with what he would probably see as the stilted language of the '28.

(And back when the '79 was approved, not all bishops were very accomodating to Episcopalians who wanted to remain with the '28.)

What's taking them so long to vote? Could God be messing with their minds?

**Could God be messing with their minds?**

Supposedly they are voting right now. Said it should take one hour.

if this guy had been a straight man accused of groping a lady, we would have had Clarence Thomas II.

We shouldn't have had Clarence Thomas I. At least give them credit for doing the right thing even it is hypocritical.

Can y'all use a couple of retread Episcopalians? :-)

Always. We Catholics may have our troubles, but we're starting to turn the tables on the apostate liberals and have them on the run in many places. Our doors are always open.

"...how DOES one correctly make contact preparatory to a conversion?"

I would check out some of the Catholic parish websites and see what info you can glean. Then I would visit some parishes. When you have found one that you are sure you like I would introduce myself to the priest after Mass or call the rectory.

. . .think is what has saved Catholocism in the long haul. . .always thought the best of 'both worlds' would be to go to the Presbyterian Church for the sermon. . .and the Catholic Church for the Mass. . .

Hey, don't knock Catholic sermons. Some of the younger priests in our diocese are brilliant homilists. As seminary education re-focuses on scholarship, theology, and rhetoric (as opposed to "social justice", psychology, and butt-piracy), they will continue to improve.

Rev. V. Gene Robinson, answer one SIMPLE question;

What is the basis for your assertion that the Bible is WRONG about sodomy and homosexuality ?
