CANTEEN SPORTS CORNER PRESENTS: GAMES! CALLING ALL GAMERS!! HOSTED BY: Tonkin, Ma, and MoJo2001 |
|
Today we kick off our shoes and ready ourselves for some fun. If you love playing or watching games, then today will be fun. If you don't like playing games, then join us for some silliness. Please share your favorite video, card, board, or computer games on the thread. We'd love to read about it. As always, enjoy yourself. Don't forget to click on the links on the right hand side for our weekly threads and sports links. Also, links will be provided throughout the thread. Thank you!
If you are wondering why we are doing this, please keep in mind the troops around the world that visit us. Sometimes mindless fun for a few minutes can provide that extra release from the often thankless job of defending our freedom. For our troops, their families, and friends; it is important to create a place where they can get a moment of silliness and fun. Well, that's what we are here for. We hope you keep that in mind. Not all games will be to everyone's liking. However, we do feel that we've provided games for everyone to enjoy. |

FANTASY SPORTS GAMES ONLINE
Do you like football? If you are ready for football season, why not try your skill as a Coach or manager of your own team. The following links will allow you to set up your own teams and leagues. So? If you have any friends you know you can beat, definitely invite them to join you! Oh! You can pay for some leagues, but we are just interested in the FREE games. Don't forget to read the rules. You will also need to register in order to begin playing. If you don't want email to your account, set up a yahoo or hotmail account for free. Using these games for gambling purposes is prohibited. Also, all games we searched for are free. Prizes are given out, but no purchase is necessary to play. (Why pay to play games that are offered for free?)
*Sporting News has two free Fantasy Football Leagues one for the NFL and the other for NCAA football. The basic premise of this game is the player (that's you!) is given 35 million dollars. You then create your ultimate team. Each week, depending upon the players performance from the week before, they will either increase or decrease in value. Don't forget that you start with 35 million dollars and you want to have an increase each week with the players available on your roster. (Don't forget to click on the footballs to transport to their site!)
*ESPN.com offers their free Fantasy Pro and College games. These games are usually very fun. There's not too much stress with these games. You basically just pick the teams each week that you believe is going to win. One of the college games deals with the point spread. Will the team win by the spread or lose by it. It's not very complicated. (Don't forget to click on the footballs to transport!)
*Yahoo's Fantasy Football League is for all of those fans that love to participate in a Live NFL Draft. You first begin by ranking the players that you really like. After you've set up or joined a league, an actual Draft date will be set. After the Draft has taken place, you can begin looking at your team. You will be able to do trades and act like a general manager and coach. What a wonderful way to play the game without the drama or egos. Enjoy this game. Sign Ups are still available now. (Don't forget to click on the football to transport!)
These are just a few of the Free Fantasy Football games. We are sure there are others out there, but they are hard to come by these days. When Fantasy Football games first began online, they were virtually all free. However, the popularity of these games has created a need (in the opinions of the website gurus) for more interactive and paid services. Which is fine, but we remain cheapskates and free is good for us.

It is our friend!! You be safe! Hey! I expect pictures. (Although, when I was 8 months pregnant we drove from Houston to El Paso. It was the most awful experience of my life. I was asking why Texans didn't want to just give that part of Texas over. There's nothing out there!! LOL! Then we got to Blue Junction or Junction Blue, Texas and I realized I forgot my wallet in Houston. Hehehe!)

Actually, I'm looking at the computer screen. My window shows no let up of rain. The hubby's computer has vacation plans for Tahiti on it. (For someone else. Hello? The Sailor is slacking! He should never volunteer to help my brother while he's visiting one of my favorite places! UGH!) My tv is jamming with Toon Disney. My stereo is jamming with the next song in cue!! You'll probably laugh at the selection, but you know my musical tastes. So? It shouldn't surprise you!! LOL!

LEAVE IT
(Click on the hyperlink)
Yes
I can feel no sense of measure
No illusions as we take
Refuge in young man's pleasure
Breaking down the dreams we make real
One down one to go
Another town and one more show
Downtown they're giving away
But she never came back
No phone can take your place
Do you know what I mean
We have the same intrigue
As a court of kings
Ah leave it, ah leave it
Dit, dit, dit, dit, dit, dit, dit
Doot, doot, doot, doot, doot, doot, doot
(You can absolutely annoy everyone in the car by doing this for 5 straight hours!
I know because I did it when I was 10 on our way to Florida!)
Two down there you go
McArthur Park in the driving snow
Uptown they're digging it out
Better lay your claim
Get home you're not alone
You just broke out of the danger zone
Be there to show your face
On another dreamy day
Ah leave it, ah leave it
Dit, dit, dit, dit, dit, dit, dit
Doot, doot, doot, doot, doot, doot, doot
Goodbye, goodbye, goodbye bad
Leave it
Hello, hello, heaven
(repeat)
I can feel no sense of measure
No illusions as we take
Refuge in young man's pleasure
Breaking down the dreams we make real
Ah leave it, ah leave it
Goodbye, goodbye, goodbye bad
Leave it
Hello, hello, heaven
(repeat)

8 Months? What were you thinking?
Oh right, I know exactly what you were thinking...we did the same thing from Phoenix to Junction City, Kansas (Ft. Riley).
You know, (and this is for everybody), that's one of the things that sets military families apart from everyone else. We were all youngsters just getting started in life, which means most of us were starting families. And when Uncle Sam says private (or seaman) so-and-so, it's time for you to move to El Paso (or Junction City, or Twenty-Nine Palms, or Virginia Beach, or Bangor)...well, you just do whatever it takes to pack up and go. And if you're 8 months pregnant with 2 kids under the age of 3...so what?
And this is the most amazing part! Even though they gripe about it, our wives are right there with us making it happen. It has been said that being an Military Wife is the toughest job in service...you'll never find me disagreeing with that. And MoJo, people like you and many I've pinged have my utmost respect and admiration for what you do to 'support our troops'. You are on the front lines, and you are awesome, and there just aren't enough words to give you the praise you're due...
Anyway, I'm done.
whew.

LOL! We were driving to Washington state. My doctor didn't think it was a good idea for me to fly. Yet, he thought it was a good idea for me to endure a trip from Quantico, Virginia to Silverdale, Washington in the car? Hello? LOL! Funny thing: We ended up driving back 3 years later from Washington to Virginia. Bobby was 3 years old and was an excellent traveling child. Timmy is a different story. Getting off the street is a miracle with him. LOL! I'm thinking this will get better. (I keep telling myself that!LOL!)
