I want to kick off a grass-roots movement to educate and inform discerning Democrats about the real nature of their party and am soliciting suggestions from Freepers. The reasons I am doing this are several, as listed below:
* I have several conservative Democrat friends who have always voted D, but who disagree with the stance of their party on issues like AA, tax-cuts, and regulations.
* These people do not understand that regardless of the "moderate" local Dem candidate they vote for, the party agenda is driven in Congress by an extremely liberal faction of the party.
* Case in point #1: I alerted one friend to Rep. Rangel's remarks about the death of Hussein's sons yesterday (Rangel said it was "illegal" for the US to kill them). The friend said he disagreed with Rangel, and the majority of the Dems would similarly disagree with the Congressman. I asked this friend if he knew who Rangel was. He had never heard of him. I informed him coolly that if the Dem regain the House, Rangel would become the Chairman of the powerful Ways and Means Cte., where all spending bills originate, and that he is one of the most influential members of his party in the House. The friend was shocked.
* Case in point #2: I asked another Dem friend what he thought of Kerry. He gave me a canned response about his Vietnam service, etc. I then asked him if he knew about his anti-Vietnam war stance. He said he did not, but that his parents (lifelong Dem voters like himself) hated Jane Fonda and everything she stood for. I then forwarded him the NewsMax expose of Kerr's Vietnam stance, his anti-war book, his rallies with Fonda and Ramsey Clark, and his statement to the US Senate in 1971. After reading all that, he said he was disgusted, and would forward it to his mother. He conceded that if Kerry were to be the nominee, he would vote for Bush.
* The problem is that these Dem voters are blissfully unaware of the voting records of their candidates and representatives. All they go by are finely crafted campaign statements issued during the last few weeks before the election where they pay homage to FDR, Truman and JFK. As a result, these dopey Dem voters (like my friends and their parents) continue voting for these candidates thinking they are voting for FDR/JFK-like candidates.
We need to educate these people and keep them as well informed as we Freepers are about the real day to day legislative agenda of the Rat Party. We need to highlight how they continue to vote against the best interest of these conservative, patriotic Democrats (like my friends) and how they continue to display hypocrisy by constantly changing their stance on major issues.
How do we do this?
I like Joe. He doesn't make me ashamed at all
He's a blunt American, who calls it like he sees it. That way, if he ever violates the posting guidelines, he can't pretend that anyone else but him was doing it.
Right or wrong, Joe Hadenuf is an honest guy. I like that.
I'm an American veteran, no need to use a boat to find freedom, I fought for American freedom, like many other American's who did the same.
I suggest the millions of others that want freedom to do the same, instead of fleeing tyranny and jumping on a boat, or waiting for American's to spill their blood to make your country right. Stand and fight, and make your own countries right.
I know it's not the easy way out, but it's the right thing to do.
No, that's not a fair characterization.
Prescription drugs **will** cost us more money, at least in the short term (we should also see some benefits, as right now Medicare recipients are encouraged to wait until surgery is required, because surgery is covered by the old Meidcare, rather than take anything proactively such as medicine, becuase medicine wasn't covered).
That's your initial $450 Billion or whatever figure someone in Washington A.C./D.C. has swagged.
The Medicare privatization option, however, doesn't kick in for ten years. But getting the federal government in competition with private industry to manage Medicare is HUGE! That's how you get cuts in that massive bureaucracy (not an easy feet with a divided nation and Congress, either). In the mean time, Medicare is going to cost us some bucks. Nonetheless, its administration is going to be privatized, something that the Left is currently bashing Ted Kennedy for over on DU.
Bush gets my vote by default, but I really will have a hard time justifying sending the GOP another dime of my hard earned money.
Do Not Be Discouraged in doing good... The presidency is a bully pulpit. It is not a monarchy or a tyranny where a benevolent leader can enact sweeping legislations or defy the machinations of the opposition party. We have to remember that Saddam Hussein was originally a 'benevolent despot'.
Any presidential administration in a first term can only hope to hold the line on at most Three Issues. Especially given the withering opposition from the Democrats, VictiCrats, WhacoCrats, CommieCrats and other assorted emerging leftist cacaphonics.
1) National Security is an issue that the Bush administration refuses to compromise upon. And has done a fairly good job with when you account for the treason of the democrats on this matter.
2) The Bush administration did the best they could on Tax Cuts. Two major middle class tax reductions in three years is nothing to shake a stick at.
3) The bush administration managed to catch the falling economy left by the democrats and the clintonistas and at least kept it from becoming a disaster. Thats three things that the Bush Administration has stood ground upon. I believe these priorities are well placed and should accomplish incremental changes. Incremental solutions are the only remedy to problems that were arrived at incrementally.
Some of these folks make me feel like I am standing in the lobby of the U.N. selling hunting rifles.
Strange days indeed......
I got criticized for bringing a "blue helmet" out to a local shooting range for some target practice the other day.
I asked them what's wrong with it, and one old timer replied "It ain't got no holes in it yet, son!"
Oh no, I refuse to go several hundred years down memory lane. Lets deal with here now!
Ask the American Indians if they regret not having adequate border patrol. I am confident of the response you'll get.
I really don't think you'll find at FR too many of the people who "will sit out the process." A lot of the people who express the most dissatisfaction with current trends want more than anything else to be heard and to know that others do hear and do understand their concerns.
In the end, though, they will make the predictable choices like all of us. We'll quit hearing from them at all before most of them really start sitting things out.
Thanks for the ping, Luis.
On that subject, I consider Freepers who deliberately violate Free Republic's posting guidelines by registering and posting under multiple screen names to be quite gutless, but maybe that's just me.
Don't play games - Don't represent yourself as another person, create or use another screen name to avoid a revocation of posting privileges, misrepresent the site or your role in it, and don't misattribute a contribution you've made. (Parody exceptions would apply to the latter, of course, but it should be clear what you are doing.)

Exacty. How many millions do they suggest we take in? 20 million more? 50 million more? 150 million more? Should we be building 200-story, pink apartment buildings on the plains of Texas to accomadate them?
Our schools and social services are being choked off, jails are full of foreigners, both legal and illegal, our highways are packed, land fills full, limited resources, taxes too high, parking lots full, and hospitals are take a number while the entire ER is packed with non english speakers, millions are out of work, and press number #1 for English......LOL!
Enough of this bull sh*t. What the hell is wrong with people? Can they not see the government is the cause of all of this chaos, while Americans have been screaming for relief for years. What's up with this?
And some ding dong comes along and asks, "Well Joe Hadenuf, where did your ancestors come from". LOL! Who gives a baboons butt about that? Sheesh.......
