I haven't listened to Savage since he left
WABC 770 NYC, he has been replaced 7-9 by Mark Levin. Mark can rant right up there with Savage. They webcast so you can check him out if you want.

Shep Smith blaming protesting smokers for the shooting because AP reported a smoking ban rally at City Hall today. That rally is tomorrow. Would you please stick to the facts instead of unfairly smearing Shep? He never 'blamed' anyone, he just stated that he had been given info that the smoking ban rally was scheduled for 1pm at the park across from City Hall. And before he mentioned it, he included a big caveat, stating that he didn't know if there was any relation, that it was just information that he has been given, but for what it's worth, there was a rally scheduled...
Far different from how you are portraying it. Further, did you ever consider that most of the info and updates he reads and gives out are simply written by someone else in the newsroom and either handed to him or spoken by producers into his earpiece?

Realistically, .5% to 1% of the population will want CCWs and yes, I know, that's still a lot.
I say use Randall's island. Written test on self-defense application and the law. Practical shooting test. It might take a year for the initial backlog to clear, but it is much better than having 400,000 defenseless people.

Not a problem for me here in the far Burbs, but there are not a lot of places to practice in a densily populated city of nearly eight million people. Back when I was in high school in NYC, my Catholic high school had a 50-yard rifle range in the basement where we would conduct rifle marksmanship classes, and where the school rifle team would practice. As far as I know, it's still in use. (The school has junior-division ROTC)

Pennsylvania is a "shall issue" state, with several hundred thousand concealed-carry-permit holders. Some large number of CCW-holders work in Philadelphia, and carry there. Downtown Philly, while not as crowded as mid-Manhatten at rush hour, is still a high-density urban area. We have not had any incidents that I know of regarding a CCW holder firing wildly and hitting innocent bystanders. Same deal with Pittsburg. Florida is another state with "shall-issue" CCW, and I've not seen any reports of innocents being shot in downtown Miami, Tampa, Orlando, Ft Lauderdale, or other major areas. Considering how anti-gun the press is, I'm sure I would have heard (over and over) if any such incidents had occurred.Did you know that the population of the City of New York is greater than the combined populations of Philadelphia, Miami, Tampa, Orlando, and Ft. Lauderdale? What works in otherplaces may not be practical in New York City.

A white guy, who is black or hispanic, shot Davis and somebody else, was then shot and killed by Davis, then he was shot and wounded by a plain clothes detective, then he escaped unharmed in the ensuing melee, and Bloomberg is reporting that democracy is dead.
One dark night in the middle of the day
Two dead boys came out to play
Back to back they faced each other
Drew their swords and shot each other
A deaf policeman heard the noise
And came and killed the two dead boys
A paralyzed donkey kicked them over a 12 foot fence
If you don't believe my story
Ask the blind begger who saw it all through a knot hole in a barb wire fence!

Absolutely, which is one of the reasons why NYC has such strict gun control laws I suspect. There are not a lot of places where the average law abiding working class person can go to practice, and the city is too darn busy and disorganized to enforce a certification/recertification program.Actually the Sullivan laws were enacted to help preserve police corruption in NYC and to make certain that no new organized crime gangs could effectively chhallenge the established criminal organizations is was supported by organized fcrime at the time. If guns were legally held in nYC and they obeyed the uS Constitution there would be numerous indoor pistol ranges. which would fill this need.
