This is a metaphor, as most political cartoons are. Politics about to "shoot down" the president. There have probably been worse cartoons.
To: DoughtyOne
Still, showing a President getting assasinated will get you fired and jailed when the President comes to town.

That's liberal thinking... you can't stop 1st amendment speech because of should of's could of's etc etc. Look are you gonna sit here and tell me kids become criminals because of TV? If so I'm not gonna change your mind. But I'll tell you what.. it's not tv that is changing kids today.. it's a lack of parenting.. PERIOD.

I'd like to see the comic be exposed as a child molestor. There is only one way to rein in the Left- and that is to show them the consequences. They are otherwise like children who push authority to see how far they can get.

Ramirez cartoon from July 17th.

"Well, in Iraq today, it is a guerilla war against us. This is clear. As far as quagmire goes, only time will tell."
I agree. My point in the equation was that the cartoonist might be attempting to compare the two.

Re:
Why would some cartoonist you usually LOL at and whose point-of-view you expect to agree with more often than not suddenly switch? It's not a question of ideology at all. As an american citizen he does not enjoy the right to call for the assasination of the leader of the executive branch.

He is not calling for the assassination of Bush in any way.
You still haven't answered my question of how the cartoon is illegal.

Loan was executing the bad guy. True.
That was the way it was reported to Americans at the time. False.
That is the way it is represented to kids in public education even today. FALSE.
Most folks out there who see the still or the film think "Oh, that poor little boy... that evil nasty man just killed a poor defenseless boy." and that's the end of it.
In that context, the cartoon is clearly sympathetic to Dubya.

Whether anyone (not meaning you) buys into the premise...the sample from this thread alone would dispute it.

The LA Times is so far left they are about to drop off into the Pacific.
Michael Ramiroz is the only thing conservative about the paper. He drives the liberal letter to the editor writers nutso.
His portrayal of "W" in this cartoon is showing how the Libs are trying to destroy "W".
Don't worry, it won't work.
It will all come back to bite them in the gluteusmaximus

For all who are interested..The LA Times is owned by the Tribune Corp...traded on the NYSE under the call letters TRB...The stock has not done anything in three or four years....and, if you own it, I think that it is a sell.

You could probably find comparisons from a Clint Eastwood movie too, but that doesn't mean anyone is suggesting anything but a political metaphor.
To: StupidQuestions
Foolish remark. The threat of assasination to the President is a criminal offense. There is no need for you to hide behind the First Amendment. A portrayal of the President's assasination is of serious concern and the author will likely be given a stern warning.
To: ChadGore
Where is he calling for the president to be killed? Again. He is saying that politicians are trying to damage the president. It is a metaphor. A metaphor already. Just like his cartoon that showed Bush taking down a fierce beast but it wasn't good enough for people. Metaphor. Repeat after me. Metaphor.
Do you believe that Politics is meant to be a good thing, that is doing a good thing by targeting the president? Is that how you read this?
