Re:
"Is that their site?" The LA times logo is from their site, but the croped section of the liberal, murderous, blood bathed, hate delusion is my doing.

The Bush-haters chortling over the image.

Forgive the huge size, but I think it needs said. Dear Secret Service:
I GUESS YOU CAN BACK OFF NOW.
Sincerely, Derrald

None of us grew up in the Jefferson era, but he had it right about the press.

Actually, I think the trigger was pulled a split second BEFORE this picture was snapped. That's how I remember it anyway. The bullet is already in the poor guys head. That's why he's making that odd face.

Ramirez is saying that the politics of the situation is killing Bush, not the reality. I think he intended this reaction. If you all have seen his anti-bubba and Hillary cartoons, you would know that his politics are not what many here think they are.
The street execution was complicated. So are the politics in Iraq. The cartoon can be interpreted in multiple ways. I don't know exactly what the cartoonists attention exactly was, but it works. It makes me think about the politics of image, media over the reality on the ground.
I do know that in no way is he suggesting that the president be assasinated. He is making an argument about the media, politics, and the situation on the ground in Vietnam, being a morass, and that Iraq could be turning that way.
I am a bit dissapointed in some people here. This is a thought provoking cartoon. We are used to having everything handed to us in a spoon fed, third grade level manner, and this cartoon is provocative, and should be analyzed instead of the immediate calls for shutting down the L.A. Times, whose editorial board this guy tends to disagree with in the first place.

...when the writer get's them to THINK afterward, and talk about it, they've really done their jobs. That would be the LEFT nut - no?

>>Again, how old are you? (Please be specific...) <<
I was in college during the Carter administration. But you should have been able to tell that from my previous response.
How about you? Also, your sex, height, weight, hair color, Social Security Number and mothers maiden name.
After all, this is just between friends -- it is not like this is an open forum or something...

Yo idiot, get a grip and step away from the keyboard. The merits(if any) of your points are actually diminished when you post in mega-caps.
What next, gonna call him a witch and see if he floats?

Man, I have no clue if this post makes sense or not but I'm not about to sit here and try to think if it did.......... LOL! I know exactly how you feel!

"People react viscerally, as it's so much easier than thinking."
That may well explain the numerous attempts to institute socialism in recent generations.
The U.S. is not immune to this disorder, unfortunately.

You want to shut down a newspaper? The Los Angeles Times is many things*, but a newspaper it is not.

The reference to the 35 year-old LIFE Magazine cover is going to be too obscure for most Americans. Frankly, I can't believe that the Secret Service is concerned about this.
To: BCrago66
It's not just the gun to the President's head that is offensive; the cartoonist also cannot caricature President Bush. The jug-ears are OK, but the other facial features are just not recognizable.Except for the ears, it looks like a recycled Nixon caricature. Go figure. The Left has never forgiven Tricky Dick for screwing the Reds out of world domination.

But, depicting the death of a President is just not right.True. I don't think the incitement of violence is protected by the first amendment. The secret service wants to know the intent of this cartoon and they are right to make inquiries in times like these. Many people are not old enough to know what this cartoon suggests.
