Lieberman urges Mfume for high court: In make-up speech recommends NAACP boss with no law degree

A few days after being declared "persona non grata" by the NAACP, Democratic presidential candidate Joe Lieberman suggested in a speech to the group that its leader, Kweisi Mfume, would make a good Supreme Court justice, the New Republic reported.

Mfume, however, has never been to law school.

Sen. Joe Lieberman

Lieberman had upset the civil-rights leader by skipping a candidate forum at its national convention Sunday, the magazine reported.

The Connecticut senator called Mfume the next day to apologize and agreed to come to Miami to speak to the convention Wednesday night.

After an apology to the group and a recounting of his civil rights bona fides, Lieberman, the Democrats' vice-presidential candidate in 2000, commended the NAACP for its work during the Florida recount.

"We didn't realize at the time, Al Gore and I, that we not only needed Kweisi Mfume fighting for justice here in Florida counting votes," Lieberman said, according to the New Republic. "We need him on the Supreme Court where the votes really counted. Maybe that'll happen some day."

According to the NAACP website, Mfume has earned a Masters degree in liberal arts, with an emphasis in international studies, from Johns Hopkins University.

Don't bother asking

At Sunday's event, Mfume said the four candidates who didn't show up now have no right to ask for black votes in the 2004 election, USA Today reported.

Four empty chairs were placed up front, representing Lieberman, Rep. Richard Gephardt, D-Mo., Rep. Dennis Kucinich, D-Ohio, and President Bush.

''We are interested in people who are interested in us,'' Mfume said, calling their failure to attend an affront to African-American voters and the 94-year-old National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.

''This organization has dignity,'' he said, according to USA Today. ''We are not going to allow anybody, Democrat or Republican, to take it for granted.''

In a speech, the NAACP leader named each of the no-shows accompanied by a dramatic death-knell chord.

''You have now become persona non grata,'' he said. ''Your political capital is the equivalent of Confederate dollars.''

USA Today noted Bush is the first sitting Republican president to travel to Africa, and the three missing Democrats received 100 percent scores for their voting in the last Congress from the Leadership Conference on Civil Rights.

Guys, what was Kweisi's name before he changed it?

Can't recall it. I just remember he had something like five children with five different women out of wedlock, none lived with him, and I think some or all were on public assistance even when he was member of Congress. In other words, he was a typical Dim.

This destructive statement should always follow Lieberman's name. He should never be on the Judiciary Committee given this declared position as to the SCOTUS being just another worthless hate-speech forum.

Mfume fathered five children out of wedlock between the ages of 16 and 22 while a gang member in Baltimore.

Oh, yeah. Put him on the Supreme Court, Joe.

All said with such a soft, sincere voice, while the glint in the eye says those "suckers."

Now that LIEberman has demonstrated how craven he really is, he will cement the Black vote by choosing Al Sharpton for Secy of State. That'll nail the Black vote for Holy Joe not to mention the agita it'll give the rest of the voters. LOL.

''This organization has dignity,'' he (M'fume) said, according to USA Today.

Yeah, sure, and about as much credibility as a two-dollar prostitute insisting she has never had VD.

And I am truly amazed at the credibility that Frizzell brings to the "organization". Pull this bozo up on search and read about his exploits, if you want "dignity".

Up until this, I always thought that Lieberman had exhibited as much pure dumbness as he possibly could, but now he has exceeded that.

The whiny idiot put himself over the top.

I have tried for the longest to remember the cartoon character this dummy so reminds me of. Was there a "Droopy Dog" character at one time or another?

That nasal whine of his just grates on me to no end and has made it impossible for me to judge the man on his true merits. However, after that stupid remark, I can see he has no merits anyway.

He was a loser with Gore, he's a loser without Gore, he's just a damned loser, period.

Frizzell "Pee Wee" Gray changed his name to Kweisi Mfume. Kweisi and mfume are words from Ghana, in West Africa. Kweisi means conquering. Mfume, son of kings. Ghana is the home of the Ashanti, a war like people who did conquer their neighbors and did have kings. The Ashanti were heavily involved in the slave trade. Ashanti war parties would invade villages in the interior and return captives to the coast for sale in the new world. When the British stoped the slave trade, the Ashanti continued their raids and brought their captives back to the king.

The locals who were losing men to the Ashanti raids complained to the British who sent Lord Robert Baden-Powell to lead a campaign aginst the Ashanti. After a successfull campaign in which the Ashanti capital was captured, a large ceremonial bowl was discovered. Baden-Powell, who after some time in the jungles needed a bath, decided to take one in this large ceremonial bowl, until he was informed of the bowl's purpose. It seems that the Ashanti would fill the bowl up with the blood of their captives and wash the bones of their ancestors (kings only) in this particular bowl. Needless to say, Baden-Powell decided not to bath in the bowl, however, he did bring the bowl back to England where it was on display in 1967, which is when I saw it.

Yes, Kweisi Mfume is the conquering son of kings, the kings of slavery. The kings who sold their fellow Africans to the slave trade. And when they could no longer sell their captives, they killed them and washed the bones of their ancestors in the captives' blood. I think Kweisi Mfume is an appropriate name for the head of the NAACP.

Oh, we are sorry Kwesei Mfume ( pronounce Kwesei Mfume), Bush couldn't make it to your soiree, he was too busy in Africa, liberating a nation of coloured people.

Joey's campaign is in full desperation mode now and it's a joy to behold for those of us who never trusted the sneakey twerp in the first place.

All the clown's campaign needs to complete the picture is a bit of brisk piano accompanying music.

Talk about blatant pandering. I saw a portion of Lieberman's speech on FNC - I almost hurled. Kucinich and Gephart also engaged in their typical suck-up strategery.
Also, note the not-so-subtle reference to Confederate dollars by Kweezee.

There is just constitutionally authorized position that requires some degree of legal expertise. Can anyone name that position?

Is it U.S. Attorney General? Library of Congress Archivist? Senate cafeteria lunch lady?
