A Few Of FR's Finest....Every Day....07-09-03...."Things I've Learned In Life"

A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

~ Billie, dansangel, dutchess, Mama_Bear, Aquamarine

*Note* ~ The text for today's thread was submitted to me by nicmarlo several weeks ago. Since then, she has virtually disappeared from FR. I still wanted to present this lighthearted, personal view of life and I hope to hear from dear nicmarlo once again really soon.

Thanks "nicmarshmallow" - I miss you. Hurry back! ~dansdevil~

For the convenience of all skiers on the ski lift, when you get to the top, you're supposed to ski off the lift (rather than have the operator stop the lift, remove your skis, and catch you in their arms).

1) Click on the graphic to open the Calendar.
2) Once there you can click on any month and even click to the right to go into next year. Once you are in the month that you joined FR you will need to click on the number in the calendar and then an add item screen will come up.
3) In the next box enter your name in the "Calendar Text" field and then click on submit.
4) If any of the screens fail to load simply click on refresh in your browser and that will usually fix it.
5) If all else fails or simply if you want me to do this for you send me a FReepmail and I will gladly do it for you. ~Mixer

Below are names of some of our FReepers' loved ones who are serving our country. If you have someone you would like to add, please address a post to Billie; Dansangel; Dutchess; Mama_Bear; and we will add their name to this list. As we pray for them, we pray also for all our nation’s leaders, and military personnel, and their families and friends. May God hold them close to His heart.
~~~~~~~~~~   ~~~~~~~~~~
We ask Lord, that You guide the leaders of our great country in their hour of decision. The burden that has been placed on their shoulders is overwhelming. We ask that with Your infinite wisdom You guide them gently to the right decisions.
Please give us the strength, Lord, to get through each difficult and devastating day that faces each of us and our country. Protect and guide our Military that are now being called to duty, strengthen them in their trials and temptations; give them courage to face the perils which beset them; and grant them a sense of your abiding presence wherever they may be; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Hi Billie. That was VERY embarrassing! "ANOTHER" Kodak moment!
I got most of the small back yard picked up (took a few hours off today as they predicted more rain which it DOESN'T look like we're going to get). Mr. D. just got home and we're going to work on the bigger stuff!
I didn't get John's essay today so tomorrow will be a total surprise! Looking forward to it!
Thanks for the update, Maggie - glad you have your car back so soon, and that it didn't cost an arm and a leg to fix it. :)
Since the thread was posted late, I didn't have time to give it my usual 'fine tooth comb' examination. So, no I didn't find it. :-(
So what you're saying is...be sure to find ANY excuse to post late so I wan't have to put up with your "fine tooth examination"!
:o)
Just kidding Billie!
The only thing that bothers me is nicmarlo not being here. :-(
I know - I really do hope she knows how much she's being missed.
of course, doing something wrong in front of one's brother is an almost inevitable life experience. sigh!
I didn't have a brother, but I have an older sister who would take delight in scrutinizing *everything* that I did, hoping she could find something to use against me! LOL!!
It was the alternator, as everyone thought. I had suspected that, too, having no brothers and my Dad an engineer, much of my childhood spent playing with car engines and generators.
See? All those childhood hours spent under the hoods of family cars and heavy equipment with my Dad paid off!
Glad the tally was reasonable and the service was so great. Now, as to your *next* trip to Augusta.....starting the prayer petitions up early! LOL!
Now you need to share some of those "bloopers" you mentioned, as well! :-)
This thread is precious. What a great idea. LOL I've enjoyed reading it today. Life is so funny isn't it?
I just thought of another one. It happens to be my parents favorite story about me to share with every single person they ever met in their entire lives...grrrr....
Don’t give teething toddlers pieces of carrot to chew on. They have a tendency to become curious about the two holes in their nose and will stick the left over carrot up there only to be found hours later by a doctor.
Yuk! Why couldn't it have been an ear story?
The lesson learned about not having your check book with you after you did your shopping is a really good lesson. I had to learn that lesson too, but sadly enough, I've been known to fall off the wagon.
To my horror I was dragging a pair of panyhose...almost half a leg being exposed. Never lived that one down!
Oh my! That's worse than dragging a piece of toilet paper around on the bottom of your shoe! :-)
