Cameras roll on final Star Wars
By MICHAEL OWEN-BROWN

THE republic is crumbling, the forces of evil are massing and a legion of science-fiction fans are quivering in anticipation.
The last chapter of Star Wars starts filming today at Sydney's Fox Studios.
Almost 1000 crew will work on the $173 million production, which stars about about 60 Australian actors. Fans can watch parts of the filming on webcam.
The film, due for release in 2005, will focus on young Jedi warrior Anakin Skywalker being seduced by the dark side of the Force on his way to becoming Darth Vader.
Also, Senator Palpatine orders the destruction of the Jedi order on his way to becoming emperor.
Lucas said the film was darker than the others.
"Let's face it, all the bad guys win in the end, all the good guys are dead except for a couple, so it doesn't have a happy ending," he said.
The film stars Ewan McGregor, Natalie Portman and Hayden Christensen. Australians Joel Edgerton, Jay Laga'aia, Genevieve O'Reilly, Bruce Spence, Kristy Wright and Warren Owens also feature.

Oh please, please! let Jar Jar return for this one!
To: yankeedame
Lucas has already trashed the franchise as much as possible with the first two installments of drek. How lower can this film go? Prayers that Jar Jar gets light sabered to death :>

In the beginning (to coin a phrase...), the intent was to make nine movies. Three in the middle, three to be retro and three to follow the time period of the first three. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see a final three be confirmed after Episode III.
Were talking big bucks here, and that's the Force that is always with the studios and producers.

Well, I liked it. Specially the part when Yoda fought Darth Tyranus at the end.

I don't care who wins as long as the movie makes some sense.

That is exactly what the diehard fans liked about the Empire Stikes Back.
If Lucas is smart, he have a scene where Anakin does the 'force choke-hold' on Jar Jar. That will guarantee ticket sells all by itself.

Perchance a mud wrestling match with Amidala and new Senator 'AnNa Korneekowva. =D

There are alot of threads today that could make one begin to see an eerie parallel between the storylines of EP's I&II and the current direction of our government.
And I'm not suggesting Bush is the Emporer. But with all the increases in government control I hope he is not seduced by the dark side. Ep III doesn't sound like it end very nicely. Plus I don't have jedi powers to fight back. Just a 357.

You realize that this will be the greatest episode of them all. Me triumphant, and in control of the galaxy.
Now to end all limits on hunting those furry little muppets on Endor, so that the entire series can end on a high note, instead of being all maudlin. Plus, I have some special Vivid Video style plans and music for the cute little Naboo chick and Princess Leia.....

So you're saying our current government is dull, stagnant, over reliant on CGI and has needlessly inserted a generic love story as the B plot?

LMAO!
To: Chancellor Palpatine
So what are the as-yet unresolved issues, is Palpatine/Emporer actually Anakin's father as was Vader to Luke? How does the Empire go from being good to bad, and the Rebellion go from being bad to good?
Others?
